Abstract

Abstract: Newton’s Law is a part of many topics that need scientific argumentation skills. The purpose of this research is to identify the student’s argumentation quality in Newton’s Law. This study was performed by means a descriptive quantitative design to find the argumentation quality of 105 high school students in Blitar regency. The results of data analysis showed that most dominant quality of argumentation of the students were arguments consisting of claims versus claims or counter claims in level 1. Furthermore, the students sometimes made a claim based on their improper understanding of Newton’s law.Abstrak: Hukum Newton merupakan salah satu bagian dari banyak materi yang membutuhkan kemampuan berargumentasi ilmiah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi kualitas argumentasi siswa pada materi Hukum Newton. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif untuk menemukan kualitas argumentasi dari 105 siswa SMK & MA di Kabupaten Blitar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas argumentasi siswa paling dominan berada pada Level 1 yaitu argumen yang terdiri dari klaim sederhana dan siswa terkadang membuat klaim yang berdasar pada pemahaman yang kurang tepat terhadap Hukum Newton.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore students' critical thinking skills on static fluid in the discussion of pressures through experiential learning strategies. This type of research is mixed method with embedded experimental design. The research subjects consisted of 37 students of class XI MIA 2. The measurement instruments in this study were tests of critical thinking skills which numbered 3 items in the form of essays and interview guides. Data analysis techniques include critical thinking ability analysis techniques that are encoded and n-gain analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that students' critical thinking skills increase after learning using experiential learning strategies. This is indicated by changes in students' thinking for the better. The results of the n-gain analysis are 0.52 which indicates an increase in students' critical thinking skills in the medium category.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi fluida statis subbab tekanan melalui strategi experiential learning. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu mixed method dengan model embedded experimental design. Subjek penelitian yang terdiri dari 37 orang siswa kelas XI MIA 2. Instrumen pengukuran dalam penelitian ini yaitu tes kemampuan berpikir kritis yang berjumlah tiga butir soal dalam bentuk esai dan panduan wawancara. Teknik analisis data, meliputi teknik analisis kemampuan berpikir kritis yang dicoding dan teknik analisis n-gain. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa mengalami peningkatan setelah dilaksanakan pembelajaran menggunakan strategi experiential learning. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan perubahan pemikiran siswa menjadi lebih baik sesuai dengan konsep tekanan hidrostatis, Hukum Pascal dan Hukum Archimedes. Adapun hasil analisis n-gain sebesar 0,52 yang menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa termasuk pada kategori sedang.

Abstract

Abstract: This study purpose to describe students’ conceptual mastery and knowing the students' difficulties understanding on heat and temperature. This survey research was conducted on 11th grade of mathematic and natural science class in senior high school students.  Data was obtained through reasoned multiple choice questions of conceptual mastery. We found that only 54.8% of students had good conceptual mastery. This shows that students' conceptual mastery is low on heat and temperature. In addition, we found three student’s difficulties, namely: (1) cannot distinguish definition of heat and temperature, (2) don’t know factors that can affect temperature changes and phase changes, and (3) unable to solve heat transfer problem. It is expected that future study can improve students' conceptual mastery through application of appropriate learnings.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan profil penguasaan konsep siswa dan mengetahui kesulitan-kesulitan yang dialami oleh siswa pada materi suhu dan kalor. Penelitian survei ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas XI SMA MIPA. Data diperoleh melalui tes penguasaan konsep berupa soal pilihan ganda beralasan. Kami menemukan bahwa hanya 54.8% siswa yang memiliki penguasaan konsep yang baik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penguasaan konsep suhu dan kalor siswa masih rendah. Selain itu, kami menemukan tiga kesulitan siswa, yaitu (1) tidak bisa membedakan definisi suhu dan kalor, (2) tidak mengetahui faktor-faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi perubahan suhu dan perubahan wujud, dan (3) tidak mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan perpindahan kalor. Diharapkan kepada peneliti selanjutnya dapat memperbaiki penguasaan konsep siswa melalui penerapan pembelajaran yang sesuai.

Abstract

Abstract:  The purpose of this study is to analyze students' critical thinking especially on static fluid material through STEM PjBL accompanied by authentic assessment. The research design used mixed methods type embedded experimental design and the sample used in the study amounted to 32 students. Through the results of the analysis note that the learning process used is moderately influential on increasing students' critical thinking skills. In general, students experience an increase in all indicators of critical thinking.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa khususnya dalam materi fluida statis melalui STEM PjBL disertai penilaian otentik. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan ialah mixed methods tipe embedded experimental design dan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian berjumlah 32 siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis diketahui bahwa perlakuan yang diterapkan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Secara umum, siswa mengalami peningkatan pada semua indikator berpikir kritis.

Abstract

Abstract: This study was aimed to know problem solving skill of senior high school students in heat and temperature. The study was used descriptive-quantitative method and the sample of research was twelve grade students. The instruments that already used as a number of question problem solving skill had 0.732 reliability. The result was analyzed by using rubric of problem solving that already developed by Doctor. The result was obtained that problem solving skill was medium category. This category was included useful description and physics approach. On the other hand, mathematical procedure and logical progression were included as low category.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana tingkat kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa SMA pada materi suhu dan kalor. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dalah deskriptif kuantitatif dan siswa kelas XII sebagai sampel dalam penelitian ini. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah dengan reliabilitas 0,732. Data hasil tes dianalisis dengan rubrik kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang dikembangkan oleh Docktor. Hasil peneltian menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa tergolong dalam kriteria sedang. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada kategori useful description, physics approach dan specific application of physics dalam kriteria sedang, sedangkan kategori mathematical procedures dan logical progression termasuk dalam kriteria rendah.

Abstract

Ferrofluids for temperature sensor application become one of the important modern technology applications. Therefore, the development of the beach sand-based ferrofluids for temperature sensor becomes new and essential things for cutting off their production. In this research, the preliminary investigation of the temperature sensor is developed based on the chromium ferrite ferrofluids. The sample in powder and fluid were prepared by coprecipitation-sonochemical technique.   The powder sample which was characterized by XRD has the crystallite size of 10 nm with high purity. The preliminary investigation shows that the chromium ferrite ferrofluid has a good property as a candidate for temperature sensor application showing a good response on the temperature treatmentDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um024v3i12018p001

Abstract

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles have been investigated intensively related to their applications such as in optical band gap energy for semiconductor application. In general, the characterization of band gap energy of the ZnO nanoparticles has been carried out using UV-Vis spectroscopy. In this work, ionization energy-tight binding model was developed to analyze the optical binding energy of the ZnO nanoparticles. The primary technique of the electronic structure calculation was an analytical calculation of overlap integral of 2p orbital from O and 3d orbital from Zn. The result of the calculation presents that the maximum bandgap energy of ZnO particles is about of 4.4 eV. This result is almost similar to band gap energy of the ZnO nanoparticles showing by experimental result. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um024v3i22018p038

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out reduced graphene oxide (RGO) phases by identifying the system, elemental system, and microstructure of corncobs. Characterization was carried out by XRD and SEM-EDX spectroscopy. The temperatures used in this work are 100, 200, and 250 ºC with a holding time of 1 hour. XRD analysis shows that the RGO phase is formed by the structure of the aromatic layer arrangement (graphite 002), and the widening comes from small-dimensional crystallites perpendicular to the aromatic layer (graphite 120). The elements contained in the three samples have a dominant proportion in the elements carbon and oxygen. From the SEM results obtained the morphology of corncobs powder that looks like sheets. The reduced graphene oxide phase is formed from the process of reducing corncobs powder.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um024v5i22020p066

Abstract

TiO2 is a semiconductor material that widely applied in various fields due to its superiority both in terms of physical and chemical properties. In this study, the TiO2 nanoparticles was synthesized using sol-gel method. The synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles was started by reacted TiCl3 with aquades and titrated with ammonium hydroxide and then followed by calcination process at 600 0C for 1.5 hours. The structural characteristics were investigated using XRD. The fungsional groups of the TiO2 nanoparticles were characterized by FTIR. The optical properties of the TiO2 nanoparticles were determined using UV-Vis spectrometer. The morphology of the sample was characterized using SEM. The results show that the TiO2 has structure as anatase phase. The data analysis using the Scherrer’s equation show that the particle crystallite size of is about of 9.77 nm. The energy band gap value of the TiO2 is 3.28 eV. Based on the SEM image, the agglomeration of the sample was formed with the average diameter of particle size of TiO2 is about 92 nm.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um024v3i12018p008

Abstract

Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) merupakan salah satu bagian dari energi terbarukan yang memiliki potensi besar dengan memanfaatkan energi dari sinar matahari menjadi energi listrik dengan bantuan sensitizer sebagai agen penyerap cahaya. Kemampuan konversi DSSC ditunjukkan oleh nilai Jsc (12,70 mA/cm2), Voc (0,585 V), FF (0,476), dan η (3,54%) yang diperoleh dari pengujian solar simulator. Selain parameter tersebut, karakteristik DSSC dapat juga ditunjukkan dari nilai ttr (0,010 s), trec (0,080 s), ηcc (0,874), D (0,192) dan  LD  (0,124 mm) melalui IMPS (Intensity Modulated Photocurrent Spectroscopy) dan IMVS (Intensity Modulated Photovoltage Spectroscopy).
