Abstract

Water quality assessment in the tsunami-affected areas conducted in Meuraxa and Kutaradja sub-districts in the area of Banda Aceh City. Water samples were collected in October 2006 from dug wells of tsunami-affected areas. These were characterized for various physical and chemical parameters. Water quality in the selected areas has shown that the surface water was contaminated due to the tsunami. Total Dissolved Solid, Total Suspended Solid, Acidity, and salinity were high in the affected areas indicating saline water intrusion into surface water tables. Dug wells in the highly affected locations showed higher values of heavy metal ions like Mn, Pb, Cu, Fe, Zn, and Cu compared to the reference points. No ion Hg was found in all samples. Keywords: Banda Aceh, heavy metals, tsunami, water quality

Abstract

Robo advisor is a technology that can assist investors in managing their portfolios. In the context of Islamic finance, transactions and business relationships must ensure compliance with Sharia principles in order to preserve wealth and meet needs. The use of robo advisors in this context has not been extensively researched. This study aims to determine the use of robo advisors in Islamic wealth management. The research method used is literature review with a normative approach and descriptive-analytical analysis. The data used are from literature on the use of robo advisors and Islamic wealth management in Indonesia over the past five years. Based on the workings of robo advisors, various benefits and limitations are found in their use. The conclusion of the analysis of maṣlaḥah (public interest), functionality, and the urgency of using robo advisors shows that their use in Islamic wealth management can be considered permissible as a means for retail investors and beginners to safeguard wealth (ḥifẓ al-mâl) by applying filters for Sharia-compliant investment instruments and adhering to prohibitions on riba (usury), gharar (uncertainty), maysir (gambling), and haram (forbidden). The research recommendation is to conduct further research on the technical aspects and algorithms used by robo advisors in selecting Sharia-compliant investment instruments, and a sound framework of supervision and regulation is needed to ensure the compliance of robo advisors with Sharia principles and the protection of investors' interests.

Abstract

Wetlands, as part of ecological technology commonly applied in wastewater treatment, are an innovative solution in environmental protection and restoration. Floating Treatment Wetland Systems (FTWs) are a new concept in wastewater treatment using macrophytes rooted in aquatic plants modified as floating systems. Use of a local aquatic plant that is often found and thrives as a weed in rice fields throughout Aceh, namely Actinoscirpusgrossus. Variables varied according to plant height, pond I 90cm – 150cm, pond II 50cm – 90cm and pond III control without plants, influent and effluent were analyzed every two weeks for 18 weeks with 9 analytical sampling times. The results of the domestic wastewater experimental parameter test showed that the average degradation efficiency (%DE) was pH 6.92, total suspended solid (TSS): 98.28%, biological oxygen demand (BOD): 97.77% and chemical oxygen demand (COD): 98.30%, very significant results. The management process of regularly cutting plants is an important part for the Actinoscirpusgrossus aquatic plant to achieve optimum results in processing wastewater, namely for 112 days with a maximum plant growth height of 165cm and 173cm for the two variations of the experimental ponds.

Abstract

The validity of the Arab Sayyid (Ba'alawi) lineage has been heavily debated. However, this controversy will not persist if the ulama verifies nassabah (lineage). Regardless of all that, it is certain that the Arab Sayyid community has a long history of lineage preservation. In addition to cultural factors, lineage preservation is a religious teaching with implications for family law, including marriage, guardianship, and inheritance. This article explores the practice of lineage preservation in the Arab Sayyid community in the contemporary era, revealing the normative dimensions of this practice, as expressed in a hadith, that underlie it. This research is a descriptive qualitative field research. Primary data were sourced from the Rabithah Alawiyah Management, elders, lineage observers, and members of Arab Sayyid families in Lampung. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation, and the data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively using the living hadith approach. The research results show that the tradition of maintaining lineage in the Arab Sayyid community in Lampung Province is maintained through introducing lineage to the family, assigning a surname, clarifying doubtful lineages, establishing sekufu' (a type of marriage), and recording lineages. This tradition embodies Sunnah values because it is based on the hadith texts of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), such as the command to recognize family lineages to maintain kinship ties. This tradition represents both a cultural heritage and a living hadith that remains relevant for building the identity of the Arab Sayyid community in the contemporary era. The academic contribution of this study lies in its effort to broaden the discourse on living hadith by connecting it to the context of Islamic family law and the preservation of social identity within the Arab-descendant community. This research provides a new perspective on how hadith texts function not only as normative sources but also as living social practices that shape the legal and cultural structures of society. Moreover, this study enriches the existing literature on the integration of religious tradition and identity construction within contemporary Islamic legal studies.

Abstract

The development of  biodegradable plastics offers a  sustainable alternative to conventional ones, reducing environmental impact. This research is the fabrication and characterization of biodegradable plastic films derived from large-leafed mangrove (Bruguiera gymnorrhiza) starch, chitosan, and clove essential oil (CEO)  as  an  antioxidant  additive.  Glycerol  was  used  as  a plasticizer, while carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and carrageenan were incorporated as thickeners. The effects of glycerol (2.7–9 ml), chitosan (4– 6% m/m), and CEO (0–8% m/m) concentrations on mechanical properties, morphology, and biodegradability were examined. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy confirmed the successful incorporation of chitosan and CEO. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed surface roughness and cavities due to incomplete chitosan dissolution. The optimized formulation (3% starch, 5 ml glycerol, 5% chitosan, and 5% CEO) exhibited superior mechanical properties, with a tensile strength of 710.98 MPa, Young’s modulus of 582.65 MPa, and elongation at break of 121.4%. Soil burial tests demonstrated complete degradation within 14 days. These findings highlight the potential of mangrove starch-based bioplastics for food packaging and eco-friendly applications.

Abstract

Persons with disabilities, including individuals with intellectual disabilities, are among the most vulnerable groups during disasters, particularly earthquakes. This vulnerability is caused by intellectual limitations and barriers in comprehending information, including disaster mitigation messages. One disaster mitigation learning innovation developed at SLBN 1 Kota Padang is earthquake disaster mitigation gymnastics, which is based on songs and movements as an inclusive communication medium for students with intellectual disabilities. This study aims to analyze the role of interpersonal communication and the accuracy of disaster mitigation message delivery methods through earthquake disaster mitigation gymnastics. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach and collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the Multimodal Interaction Analysis (MIA) framework. The findings show that delivering disaster mitigation messages through song- and movement-based mitigation gymnastics can enhance students’ understanding of earthquake safety procedures. Interpersonal communication approaches were applied in creating gymnastics movements that engaged the imaginative capacity of students with intellectual disabilities, as well as in reinforcing movement messages during class sessions. The gymnastics integrates various modes of communication verbal, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic in line with the principles of inclusive communication and the MIA framework. It also aligns with disaster mitigation communication principles, including customer focus, leadership commitment, inclusive policies, situational awareness, and media collaboration. Furthermore, the method is consistent with the frameworks of the Safe Schools/Madrasah from Disasters (SMAB) and Safe Education Units (SPAB), as well as national regulations on disaster education for vulnerable groups. Alignment is also found with the 3B method from ASB, WOHM, and the BNPB Pocket Book, including 3rd Pillar on Communication, Information, and Education (KIE) media. Delivering disaster mitigation messages through disaster mitigation gymnastics can therefore be recommended as an adaptive, enjoyable, and inclusive disaster education method.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Al-Thaba’thabaí 's thoughts on Mut'ah marriage and its relevance to family law in Indonesia. This research is a type of library research by descriptive-analytical approach. The primary data in this study are the Qur'an, Hadith, books by Al-Thaba’thabaí, the 1945 Constitution, Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning National Marriage Law, PP. Number 9 of 1975 as the implementing regulation of Law no. 1974, and INPRES No.1/1991 on the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI). This study uses deductive thinking techniques and the data analysis uses maqashid sharia theory. The results show that Al-Thaba’thabaí 's thoughts on the permissibility of Mut'ah Marriages are not relevant to the purpose of marriage and the purpose of making legislation. As the purpose of making the law is the value of justice, usefulness, and legal certainty, besides the law is also made to create benefit in society. Al-Thaba’thabaí’s thought regarding Mut'ah Marriage must be rejected because it violates the values of the legal objectives, namely justice, benefit, and legal certainty, and also harms the values of benefit. To provide firmness to prohibit the practice of mut'ah marriage in Indonesia, it is necessary to amend Article 2 of Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage to "a legal marriage is carried out following their respective religions and registered following the legislation. invitation".
