Abstract

This research proposes a Prophetic Learning Model that integrates the religious values of the Qur'an in astrophysics learning to deepen students' scientific understanding and form religious character. The main objective of this research is to develop a model that connects scientific knowledge with spirituality and internalizes religious character values such as faith, piety, patience, gratitude, and cooperation. The method used is a qualitative literature review with an analysis of learning theory, Islamic education concepts, and relevant Qur'anic verses. The results of the study found that the Prophetic Learning Model with stages: Inviting to purify the soul by praying; Reciting verses in the form of kauliah verses with dhikr; Teaching the book in the form of kauniah verses by thinking; Teaching wisdom by thinking and dhikr; and Reflecting on learning by assessing yourself. This model improves students' scientific understanding and strengthens their religious character and social skills. Challenges in its implementation include the difficulty in connecting Qur'anic verses with scientific concepts and the readiness of lecturers and students to adopt this new approach. This model has great potential to develop a more integrative learning experience. This study recommends further trials to evaluate the effectiveness and practicality of the model in the context of higher education, particularly in physics education study programs.

Abstract

This study measured the quality of MT translations of the text of Ar-Rahīq al-Makhtūm, a religiously nuanced historical work with a dense syntactic structure, and compared them with published scholarly translations. The approach used is qualitative, comparative, and descriptive. Data in the form of seven sentences of various fi'liyyah numbers were analyzed using the translation quality evaluation model from Nababan, including aspects of accuracy and acceptance. The assessment was carried out by expert respondents and native Indonesian speakers. The results showed that expert translations were superior in accuracy (score 40-31) and acceptability (40-32). The contribution of this research lies in the approach of naḥwu science in evaluation, which emphasizes the importance of the syntactic dimension in assessing the quality of machine translation of classical Arabic texts.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate: the implementation of the communicative approach in teaching Mahārah al-Kalām at Islamic Senior High Schools (MA) from teachers’ perspectives; the implementation of the communicative approach from students’ perspectives; the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing its application; and the effectiveness of the communicative approach in improving students’ speaking skills (Mahārah al-Kalām) in MA. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach to provide a comprehensive depiction of how the communicative approach is applied in teaching Mahārah al-Kalām at Madrasah Aliyah from the viewpoints of both teachers and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were further supported by relevant literature. The analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation to produce an accurate representation of the effectiveness of the communicative approach in enhancing students’ speaking abilities. The findings reveal that the implementation of the communicative approach in teaching Mahārah al-Kalām at Madrasah Aliyah is moderately effective. Teachers act as facilitators by integrating activities such as ḥiwār (dialogue), role play, and group discussions, while students demonstrate increased confidence and fluency in speaking. Supporting factors include teacher competence, student enthusiasm, and the presence of a bi’ah lughawiyyah (Arabic linguistic environment), whereas inhibiting factors consist of limited vocabulary, shyness, and insufficient supporting facilities.

Abstract

Background: Character education in Islamic schools faces the challenge of integrating universal moral values with spiritual principles derived from Islamic teachings. However, many existing character education models tend to separate Western moral frameworks from Islamic epistemological foundations, particularly the concept of adab as the core of holistic human formation. Purpose: This study aims to develop a conceptual character education model through the integration of Thomas Lickona’s character education framework and Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas’s concept of adab within the context of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in Islamic elementary schools. Method: The research employs a library research approach using thematic analysis and conceptual synthesis of relevant primary and secondary literature. Result: The findings indicate that Lickona’s three dimensions of character education—moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action—can be harmonized with the principles of knowledge (‘ilm), adab, and righteous action (‘amal) in Al-Attas’s thought to construct a comprehensive Islamic character education model. This integration strengthens the spiritual and epistemological foundations of character education while providing a systematic pedagogical structure through PBL, which emphasizes reflective, collaborative, and contextual learning. Implication: This study offers a novel conceptual framework that positions adabas the ontological foundation of character education within project-based pedagogy. The proposed model also provides practical implications for curriculum design and instructional planning in Islamic elementary education.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Prophet Ibrahim’s Prayer–Based Family Camp Program in strengthening the independent character of Muslim families using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model. The study contributes to Islamic family education by offering an evaluative framework for prophetic value–based family programs integrating Qur’anic spirituality and experiential learning. Independent character is defined as the ability of family members to demonstrate initiative, responsibility, worship discipline, and self-leadership within an Islamic moral framework. A qualitative evaluative approach employed participatory observation, in-depth interviews, family reflection sheets, and program documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model aligned with four CIPP components. Findings indicate high relevance to families’ spiritual and relational needs, particularly communication gaps and irregular shared worship. Input evaluation shows prayer-based modules, outdoor experiential design, and facilitator support are adequate, although facilitator standardization and operational procedures require strengthening. Process evaluation reveals that tadabbur alam, prophetic narratives, collaborative tasks, and guided reflection effectively internalize values. Product evaluation demonstrates improved family communication, more consistent joint worship routines, and strengthened children’s independent character. The study underscores structured evaluation and the program’s potential for adaptation to similar educational environments.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct gamification practices, often confined to mere structural aspects (pointsification), toward a deeper ontological understanding of play, while analyzing the convergence of educational philosophy with technological interventions. The scope of the research focuses on the implementation of the Homo Ludens concept within the context of Indonesian language learning spanning from 2020 to 2025. The methodology employed is a Narrative Literature Review (NLR), utilizing Johan Huizinga’s philosophical lens and a thematic analysis based on Roger Caillois’ typology of play. The research data model comprises 21 articles selected from the Crossref database, harvested via Harzing’s Publish or Perish, and screened through a Manual Quality Assessment (MQA) of reputable journals indexed in SINTA and Scopus. The findings reveal a fundamental paradigm shift wherein play has evolved into a core pedagogy, particularly within elementary education. Specifically, the study identifies a dominance of the agôn (competition) category, which enhances cognitive metrics but poses a risk of fostering transactional motivation. Conversely, the mimicry category and the concept of the magic circle prove vital in establishing a safe space for graceful failure, thereby reducing language anxiety. The study concludes that a balanced instructional design between competition and imagination is essential to preserve human agency amidst the rising dominance of Artificial Intelligence.

Abstract

In the face of moral decline and the impact of digital culture, enhancing religious character has emerged as a paramount objective in vocational education. Theoretical techniques in the classroom are frequently ineffective without regular practice. This study seeks to investigate the incorporation of habit-forming techniques to develop students' religious character at SMKN 1 Ciamis, West Java. This research employs a qualitative methodology. Data were gathered through observation, comprehensive interviews with the principal, Islamic Education instructors, and students, and documentation analysis. Data analysis was performed via data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion formulation utilizing source triangulation methods. The findings indicated that the incorporation of habit formation techniques was executed through three categories of habits: (1) spiritual habits, (2) social habits, and (3) environmental and health-related habits. Systematic school rules and oversight facilitated this integration. Habituation techniques have proven effective in transforming religious beliefs from mere cognition into observable behavior. The efficacy of this program is significantly dependent on the uniformity of the school environment and on educators' and students' collaboration in fostering a religious ambiance.
