Abstract

The Abbasid Dynasty (750–1258 AD) marked the peak of Islamic civilization, characterized by extraordinary progress in science, philosophy, and culture. This study aims to describe the intellectual legacy of Muslim scholars during this golden era and analyze the factors that supported the advancement of knowledge, including political patronage, scientific institutions, and crosscultural collaboration. Using a historical-descriptive approach through literature review, this research explores the role of institutions such as Bayt al-Hikmah (House of Wisdom) as centers for translation, research, and innovation. The study finds that the combination of government support, inclusive social structure, and an open intellectual environment contributed to the flourishing of scientific disciplines such as mathematics, medicine, astronomy, chemistry, and philosophy. Prominent figures like Al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, Jabir ibn Hayyan, and Al-Farabi not only preserved classical knowledge but also developed new ideas that influenced both the Islamic and Western worlds. The Abbasid intellectual heritage became the foundation for the Renaissance and the development of modern science.

Abstract

This study discusses the development of Islam in Southeast Asia, which has undergone significant dynamics since the 13th century through trade routes, proselytizing, and political power. The main issue in this study is how the process of Islamization took place in various regions such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, as well as the factors that influenced the acceptance of Islam amid local cultural diversity. The purpose of this study is to analyze the patterns of dissemination, the roles of scholars and traders, and the socio-political impact of the development of Islam on Southeast Asian societies. The method used is a literature study with a historical-comparative approach, utilizing primary and secondary sources in the form of classical manuscripts, travelogues, and modern academic research. The results of the study show that the development of Islam in this region is not uniform, but is influenced by different local contexts, resulting in a moderate form of Islam that is adaptive to local cultures and plays a major role in the formation of social and political identities in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

Majapahit is a kingdom that once existed and was located in the eastern part of Java, Indonesia which appeared around 1293-1550 AD. Majapahit kingdom has a structured government and bureaucracy based on the concept of cosmological beliefs. The king is equated with the supreme god and the center of devotion. Experienced the peak of glory during the leadership of Sri Rajasanagara or better known as Hayam Wuruk, and its decline due to external and internal problems. The purpose of writing this article aims to find out the government system and history of Majapahit.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengupas strategi dan taktik perang andalan Sultan Muhammad Al-Fatih saat melakukan penaklukan Konstantinopel di tahun 1453. Dengan menggali berbagai sumber sejarah, penelitian ini berusaha merekonstruksi langkah-langkah genius yang diambil sang Sultan. Hasilnya, terungkap bahwa kunci kemenangan terletak pada paduan sempurna antara siasat tempur dan pendekatan non-militer. Dari sisi militer, Al-Fatih membangun Benteng Rumeli Hisar untuk mengunci kota, menghadirkan meriam raksasa penembus tembok, dan memutar otak dengan taktik memindahkan kapal lewat darat. Sementara di balik layar, ia membangkitkan semangat juang pasukan lewat pendekatan spiritual dan permainan psikologi. Gabungan antara visi kepemimpinan, kecerdikan teknologi, dan kekuatan iman inilah yang akhirnya mewujudkan mimpi umat Islam sekaligus mengantarkan Kesultanan Utsmaniyah pada puncak kejayaannya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan dan persamaan sistem pendidikan anak usia dini (PAUD) di Indonesia dan Finlandia berdasarkan aspek kurikulum, kualifikasi guru, dan mutu pembelajaran. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literatur (library research) dan analisis isi (content analysis) dari berbagai jurnal ilmiah, artikel, dan publikasi resmi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum Finlandia fleksibel, adaptif, dan berbasis pengembangan holistik anak dengan integrasi nilai kesetaraan, inklusi, dan karakter, sedangkan kurikulum Indonesia lebih terarah pada pencapaian kompetensi dasar dan integrasi nilai yang belum merata. Kualifikasi guru di Finlandia menekankan pendidikan formal sarjana PAUD, kompetensi pedagogik tinggi, sertifikasi wajib, dan pelatihan berkelanjutan, sedangkan di Indonesia kompetensi guru bervariasi dan pelatihan berkelanjutan terbatas. Mutu pembelajaran Finlandia unggul melalui metode bermain dan eksplorasi, evaluasi formatif, keterlibatan anak aktif, serta sarana-prasarana yang memadai, sementara di Indonesia masih bergantung pada kesiapan guru dan fasilitas. Studi ini menyarankan adaptasi praktik terbaik Finlandia untuk meningkatkan kualitas PAUD di Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze learning approaches, disciplinary culture, and character development strategies in elementary education in Japan and Indonesia through a comprehensive literature review. Using a literature review research design, data were obtained from national and international journals, academic books, educational organization reports, and relevant previous research findings from the past ten years. The findings indicate that Japan has successfully implemented active, collaborative, and contextual learning integrated with school routines, thereby shaping students' character through direct experience. In contrast, Indonesia, which has adopted a competency-based curriculum, still faces challenges such as pedagogical consistency, disparities in teacher quality, and a weak school culture that supports active learning and character education. In terms of discipline, Japan implements an approach based on collective responsibility and self-regulated behavior, while Indonesia is still in the transition process towards positive discipline that focuses on strengthening social-emotional competencies. Gap analysis reveals differences in the integration of learning, character, and school culture that impact the effectiveness of elementary education in both countries. This study presents a novelty in the form of mapping the state of the art that shows the relationship between learning approaches and character development in an international comparative context.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis program ikonografi dari figur-figur fauna dan mitologi yang ditemukan di kompleks percandian Bumi Ayu, Sumatera Selatan. Sebagai satu-satunya situs Hindu-Siwaistik besar dari periode klasik di wilayah tersebut, yang aktif antara abad ke-9 hingga ke-13 Masehi, representasi artistiknya menawarkan perspektif unik mengenai dinamika keagamaan dan budaya dalam lingkup pengaruh Sriwijaya. Melalui metode deskriptif-analitis, artikel ini mengkaji tiga belas elemen ikonografis spesifik, termasuk kepala Kala, Makara, Nandi, Gana, dan berbagai relief fauna. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa figur-figur ini bukan sekadar hiasan, melainkan merupakan sebuah sistem simbolis yang koheren dengan tiga fungsi utama: apotropaik (menjaga ruang suci), teologis (mewakili kehadiran ilahiah Siwa dan para pengiringnya), dan kultural (mengartikulasikan sebuah kanon artistik lokal Sumatera yang khas). Gaya lokal ini, meskipun berdialog dengan tradisi Jawa dan India, menunjukkan inovasi yang signifikan, terutama dalam menggambar kepala Kala dan figur di dalam mulut Makara. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ikonografi hewan dan mitologi Candi Bumi Ayu adalah sebuah teks visual canggih yang mengungkap jalinan kompleks antara kosmologi keagamaan, praktik ritual, dan penegasan identitas daerah yang unik. Abstract

This study examines the historical trajectory of the caliphate period and its role in shaping the Islamic world through leadership, governance, social development, and territorial expansion. Using a qualitative literature-based approach, the research analyzes the era of the Khulafaur Rasyidin as a foundational phase that integrated theological principles with practical state administration. The findings reveal that the caliphate functioned not only as a political institution but also as a moral framework that emphasized justice, accountability, education, and social welfare. Internal conflicts and external challenges during the caliphate period are interpreted as historical realities that contributed to institutional maturity and ethical reflection in Islamic leadership. Territorial expansion facilitated cultural interaction and the dissemination of Islamic values, strengthening the formation of a cosmopolitan Islamic civilization. The study argues that the legacy of the caliphate remains relevant for contemporary Islamic societies, particularly in addressing leadership ethics, social cohesion, and governance challenges. Understanding this historical experience provides critical insights for contextualizing Islamic civilization as a dynamic and adaptive process rather than a static historical ideal.

Abstract

This research explores the political and ideological contestation between the Ottoman and Safavid  empires during the 16th and 17th centuries, a period marked as one of the most influential rivalries in the history of the Islamic world. The study’s significance lies in its ability to reveal how theological distinctions between Sunni and Shia doctrines evolved into a struggle for political legitimacy and geopolitical supremacy across the Middle East. Employing the historical research method combined with a descriptive-analytical approach, this study follows the stages of heuristics, source evaluation,  interpretation, and historiography to reconstruct objectively the political interactions of both powers based on primary historical evidence. The result demonstrate that events from the battle of chaldiran 1514 to the Treaty of Zuhab 1639 not only represented an ideological confrontation but also reflected strategic maneuvers to preserve power equilibrium. Ultimately, the Ottoman-Safavid confrontation delineated a political and religious boundary that continued to shape the region into the modern era, while the post-Zuhab reconciliation exemplified how diplomacy and rational negotiation could ease tensions between rival Islamic states.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the Komering Tribe community in South Sumatra in giving adok or title as a form of Islamic cultural acculturation. The honorary title system known as the adok tradition is attached to a person's social identity based on descent, status, and role in the traditional community. After that, Islamic teachings entered the structure and symbols of this tradition, creating a blend of values ​​between Islamic teachings and local customs. This study uses ethnographic methodology and a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation research in the South OKU area. The results of the study indicate that the acculturation of Islamic culture is seen in the embedding of titles containing Arabic elements, the use of Islamic prayers in customary processes, and changes in values ​​that emphasize morality and honor based on Islamic teachings. The tradition of giving adok is a way to maintain local cultural identity and harmonize customs and religion in the Komering community.
