Abstract

The wood carving motifs of Palembang, known as “rek,” have been a traditional craft since the era of Srivijaya and continue to endure to this day. This craftsmanship holds high philosophical values influenced by Hindu-Buddhist and Islamic cultures. Its uniqueness lies in the predominant use of golden yellow color, and its carvings are exceptionally distinctive. The purpose of this writing is to unveil the philosophical meanings embedded in the motifs of Palembang’s wood carvings. The central issue is to explore the philosophical meanings of these motifs in Palembang’s wood carvings. This study employs a historical research method, with heuristic, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography steps. The tradition of wood carving art exhibits distinct characteristics and the uniqueness of various motifs, each carrying different philosophical values. The research findings indicate that the various motifs found in Palembang’s wood carvings hold profound philosophical meanings. For example, the motif of budding bamboo shoots symbolizes that humans should be beneficial to others, and the golden color represents triumph. Therefore, it is crucial to preserve this heritage for the younger generation so that they can develop an appreciation for their local culture, strengthen personal values, and enhance their identity, and self-awareness. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak kegiatan ekstrakurikuler Pramuka yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan projek kepemimpinan terhadap perkembangan kreativitas peserta didik kelas VA di SDN 228 Palembang. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 11 orang peserta didik yang mengikuti kegiatan pramuka di SDN 228 Palembang. Metode penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif desksripstif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi serta studi literatur untuk mengkaji pengembangan kreativitas peserta didik melalaui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka. Penerapan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka dilakukan sebanyak 4 kali pertemuan dengan rangkaian materi yang bermacam-macam seperti pengenalan konsep kepramukaan, tali temali dan semafor serta ditutup oleh pementasan Dance Semafor. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan kegiatan ekstraskurikuler pramuka dapat mengembangkan kreativitas peserta didik seperti 1) Peserta didik dapat memiliki kepercayaan diri dalam mengungkapkan ide-ide/gagasan; 2) Peserta didik Berpikir kreatif dalam menemukan solusi untuk tantangan dan masalah; 3) Peserta didik mampu membuat berbagai bentuk pioneering dan hiasan dengan tali temali; 4) Peserta didik anggota Pramuka mampu menyusun sandi dengan sempurna hingga bisa dimengerti; 5) Dapat menghasilkan ide-ide baru dalam membuat gerakan Dance semafor.

Abstract

Masuknya budaya Arab ke kota Palembang terjadi pada tahun 1659-1708. Palembang kemudian berkembang menjadi salah satu pusat studi Islam dan sastra di Nusantara. Hal itu membuat banyak ulama Palembang yang muncul serta ulama Arab yang menyebarkan agama serta budaya yang terus berlanjut hingga sekarang. Kebudaayan Arab di Palembang hingga kini tetap eksis, ditandai dengan adanya permukiman Arab di Kampung Arab Al-Munawar dan Kampung Arab Assegaf di kota Palembang. Budaya Arab telah mengalami berbagai perubahan dan berinteraksi dengan kebudayaan lain. Artikel ini membahas mengenai interaksi atau keterkaitan antara bangsa Arab dan pribumi di Palembang serta mengkaji bagaimana dua budaya tersebut dapat terjadi akulturasi. Artikel ini juga membahas bagaimana cara masyrakat Arab dapat beradaptasi dengan lingkungan di Palembang. Peneliti menggunakan metode wawancara serta observasi dan kajian pustaka. Kesimpulan dari artikel menunjukkan bahwa budaya Arab telah ada di Palembang dan dibuktikan dengan banyaknya cabang permukiman Arab, diantaranya kampung Al-Munawar dan kampung Assegaf yang cukup terkenal. Pemukiman tersebut menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Arab ikut berbaur serta bersosilasisiai dengan masyrakat lokal, serta menunjukkan budaya yang satu sama lain berakulturasi antara budaya Arab dan budaya Palembang.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how effective the Contextual Learning (CL) strategy used in class 4D is in improving learning outcomes in the Plant Growth course in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) course. A total of 32 students participated in the study conducted at SDN 47 Palembang. The research approach used is called Classroom Action Research (CAR) and is divided into two cycles with stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection in each cycle. The results of the study showed that the use of the CL strategy significantly improved students' learning objectives. Between Cycle I and Cycle II, the average student score increased significantly from 60 in the pre-cycle to 70 and 80 in Cycle II. Thus, it is evident that the Contextual Learning methodology improves students' understanding of plant growth in class 4D. This study recommends contextual learning as a useful strategy to improve training standards, especially in the IPAS subject.

Abstract

Early reading skills are an important foundation for the success of student learning at the next level. However, many elementary school grade I students still have difficulty recognising letters, spelling, and understanding simple words due to monotonous learning dominated by the use of textbooks. This condition shows the need for learning media innovations that are more interactive, interesting, and in accordance with the learning characteristics of early childhood students. This study aims to analyse the need for the development of Canva-based interactive flashcards to optimise early reading learning in grade I elementary school. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with one grade I teacher and closed interviews with 30 grade I students at SDN 4 Ngulak, Sanga Desa District, Musi Banyuasin Regency. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner with the Miles and Huberman model through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study showed that the analysis of students' needs for the development of Canva-based flashcard interactive media was in the very high category, with the acquisition of pedagogical aspects of 98.89%, technical aspects of 94.17%, cognitive aspects of 78.33%, aesthetic aspects of 96.67%, and evaluation aspects of 91.67%. The teacher also emphasised the importance of digital media that is visual, practical, and supports multisensory learning through a combination of text, images, and sound. These findings indicate that the development of Canva-based interactive flashcards has the potential to be a practical learning media innovation to improve the motivation and early reading ability of elementary school students.

Abstract

The Abbasid Dynasty (750–1258 AD) marked the peak of Islamic civilization, characterized by extraordinary progress in science, philosophy, and culture. This study aims to describe the intellectual legacy of Muslim scholars during this golden era and analyze the factors that supported the advancement of knowledge, including political patronage, scientific institutions, and crosscultural collaboration. Using a historical-descriptive approach through literature review, this research explores the role of institutions such as Bayt al-Hikmah (House of Wisdom) as centers for translation, research, and innovation. The study finds that the combination of government support, inclusive social structure, and an open intellectual environment contributed to the flourishing of scientific disciplines such as mathematics, medicine, astronomy, chemistry, and philosophy. Prominent figures like Al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, Jabir ibn Hayyan, and Al-Farabi not only preserved classical knowledge but also developed new ideas that influenced both the Islamic and Western worlds. The Abbasid intellectual heritage became the foundation for the Renaissance and the development of modern science.

Abstract

This study discusses the development of Islam in Southeast Asia, which has undergone significant dynamics since the 13th century through trade routes, proselytizing, and political power. The main issue in this study is how the process of Islamization took place in various regions such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, as well as the factors that influenced the acceptance of Islam amid local cultural diversity. The purpose of this study is to analyze the patterns of dissemination, the roles of scholars and traders, and the socio-political impact of the development of Islam on Southeast Asian societies. The method used is a literature study with a historical-comparative approach, utilizing primary and secondary sources in the form of classical manuscripts, travelogues, and modern academic research. The results of the study show that the development of Islam in this region is not uniform, but is influenced by different local contexts, resulting in a moderate form of Islam that is adaptive to local cultures and plays a major role in the formation of social and political identities in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengupas strategi dan taktik perang andalan Sultan Muhammad Al-Fatih saat melakukan penaklukan Konstantinopel di tahun 1453. Dengan menggali berbagai sumber sejarah, penelitian ini berusaha merekonstruksi langkah-langkah genius yang diambil sang Sultan. Hasilnya, terungkap bahwa kunci kemenangan terletak pada paduan sempurna antara siasat tempur dan pendekatan non-militer. Dari sisi militer, Al-Fatih membangun Benteng Rumeli Hisar untuk mengunci kota, menghadirkan meriam raksasa penembus tembok, dan memutar otak dengan taktik memindahkan kapal lewat darat. Sementara di balik layar, ia membangkitkan semangat juang pasukan lewat pendekatan spiritual dan permainan psikologi. Gabungan antara visi kepemimpinan, kecerdikan teknologi, dan kekuatan iman inilah yang akhirnya mewujudkan mimpi umat Islam sekaligus mengantarkan Kesultanan Utsmaniyah pada puncak kejayaannya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan dan persamaan sistem pendidikan anak usia dini (PAUD) di Indonesia dan Finlandia berdasarkan aspek kurikulum, kualifikasi guru, dan mutu pembelajaran. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literatur (library research) dan analisis isi (content analysis) dari berbagai jurnal ilmiah, artikel, dan publikasi resmi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum Finlandia fleksibel, adaptif, dan berbasis pengembangan holistik anak dengan integrasi nilai kesetaraan, inklusi, dan karakter, sedangkan kurikulum Indonesia lebih terarah pada pencapaian kompetensi dasar dan integrasi nilai yang belum merata. Kualifikasi guru di Finlandia menekankan pendidikan formal sarjana PAUD, kompetensi pedagogik tinggi, sertifikasi wajib, dan pelatihan berkelanjutan, sedangkan di Indonesia kompetensi guru bervariasi dan pelatihan berkelanjutan terbatas. Mutu pembelajaran Finlandia unggul melalui metode bermain dan eksplorasi, evaluasi formatif, keterlibatan anak aktif, serta sarana-prasarana yang memadai, sementara di Indonesia masih bergantung pada kesiapan guru dan fasilitas. Studi ini menyarankan adaptasi praktik terbaik Finlandia untuk meningkatkan kualitas PAUD di Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze learning approaches, disciplinary culture, and character development strategies in elementary education in Japan and Indonesia through a comprehensive literature review. Using a literature review research design, data were obtained from national and international journals, academic books, educational organization reports, and relevant previous research findings from the past ten years. The findings indicate that Japan has successfully implemented active, collaborative, and contextual learning integrated with school routines, thereby shaping students' character through direct experience. In contrast, Indonesia, which has adopted a competency-based curriculum, still faces challenges such as pedagogical consistency, disparities in teacher quality, and a weak school culture that supports active learning and character education. In terms of discipline, Japan implements an approach based on collective responsibility and self-regulated behavior, while Indonesia is still in the transition process towards positive discipline that focuses on strengthening social-emotional competencies. Gap analysis reveals differences in the integration of learning, character, and school culture that impact the effectiveness of elementary education in both countries. This study presents a novelty in the form of mapping the state of the art that shows the relationship between learning approaches and character development in an international comparative context.
