Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors causing learning difficulties among students in the Pancasila education subject in the third grade of SD Negeri Mannuruki, Makassar. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through direct observation and in-depth interviews with teachers and students. The results of the study show that students' learning difficulties are not singular but rather an accumulation of internal and external factors. Cognitively, students experience difficulties in understanding abstract terms in Pancasila. Meanwhile, behaviorally, there is a tendency for students to evade tasks through 'stubborn' attitudes or lack of focus due to an inability to understand instructions. The dominant internal factors include low concentration, abstract material that is far from the children's reality, and emotional health issues in the form of feelings of inferiority. The external factors are triggered by a lack of learning support at home due to the busyness of parents and the influence of uncontrolled gadget use. The findings of this study indicate a negative correlation between student behavior and academic achievement, where a lack of focus directly hinders optimal material absorption

Abstract

Purpose – Spiritual competence is an important aspect of the teaching and learning process. This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of a spiritual competence instrument for madrasah teachers, including its unidimensionality, local independence, item fit, and reliability. The instrument consists of three dimensions: ulul albab, akhlakul mahmudah, and tasamuh, and was analyzed using the Rasch model. Design/methods/approach - This study employed Gable's affective instrument development approach. The sample comprised 375 madrasah teachers, including 177 male and 198 female teachers. Using a multistage cluster sampling technique, participants were drawn from four major cluster areas in Banten Province: Tangerang Regency, Serang City, Pandeglang Regency, and Cilegon City. Data were analyzed using the Rasch model, including tests of unidimensionality, local independence, item fit, Wright map analysis, reliability testing, and item information function analysis. Findings – Empirical findings based on the Rasch model confirmed that the items measuring the spiritual competence of madrasah teachers were valid and reliable across the three dimensions. The results showed that 20 of the 23 items met the fit criteria (MNSQ: 0.5–1.5; PTMEA: > 0.40). The item reliability was 0.99 (excellent), respondent reliability was 0.76 (moderate), and Cronbach's alpha was 0.77. The Rasch model explained 44.2% of the total raw variance, while the first contrast in the unexplained variance accounted for only 7.1%, which is below the 15% threshold for unidimensionality. Research implications/limitations – Although the instrument demonstrated satisfactory psychometric properties among teachers in Banten Province, cross-validation in other provinces is still needed. Originality/value – The findings provide empirical evidence regarding the reliability of the spiritual competence instrument for madrasah teachers and support its use for both research and assessment purposes.

Abstract

Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial adalah mata pelajaran penting di sekolah dasar yang mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, analisis, empati, dan toleransi. Namun, pencapaiannya sering terkendala oleh kurangnya sumber daya dan minimnya keterlibatan siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengaruh kecerdasan interpersonal dan motivasi berprestasi terhadap hasil belajar Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) siswa sekolah dasar di SD Islam Al Izhar Cendekia Kota Makassar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah ex-post facto dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kausalitas. Data dikumpulkan dari 30 siswa kelas V melalui portofolio, observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor rata-rata hasil belajar IPS siswa adalah 79,60, dengan distribusi kategori hasil belajar mayoritas berada pada kategori tinggi dan sangat tinggi. Kecerdasan interpersonal siswa menunjukkan rata-rata skor 63,83, dengan mayoritas siswa berada dalam kategori sangat tinggi. Motivasi berprestasi siswa memiliki rata-rata skor 66,53, mencerminkan motivasi yang cukup baik. Analisis regresi linear berganda menunjukkan bahwa kecerdasan interpersonal dan motivasi berprestasi memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar IPS siswa, dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,800. Artinya, 80% variasi dalam hasil belajar dapat dijelaskan oleh kedua variabel ini. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kecerdasan interpersonal dan motivasi berprestasi berkontribusi besar terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar IPS siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Mind Mapping learning media on students' memory and conceptual understanding in Civics. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects were 40 eighth-grade students of SMPIT COBIG Islamic School Makassar, divided into an experimental class (Mind Mapping media) and a control class (conventional method). The instruments were a multiple-choice test to measure memory (retention) and an essay to measure conceptual understanding. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the use of Mind Mapping significantly improved memory (mean post-test 86 vs. 74, p = 0.003) and conceptual understanding (72.25 vs. 58.25, p = 0.003) compared to the conventional method. Simultaneously, both variables also showed consistent differences. In conclusion, Mind Mapping is effective and has a significant effect on improving students' memory and conceptual understanding in Civics (PPKn) learning.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education demands that students possess not only technical skills but also comprehensive digital literacy encompassing cognitive, social, and ethical aspects. This study aims to examine the principles of digital literacy development in learning to serve as a guideline for educators in designing effective and relevant instruction. The research method employed is a qualitative approach with a library research design. Data analysis techniques were carried out using content analysis through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The research results formulate five main principles for digital literacy development, namely: (1) relevance to student needs and real-world contexts; (2) integration within the curriculum; (3) sustainability as a lifelong learning process; (4) the cultivation of digital ethics; and (5) student empowerment as active and creative subjects. Research conclusions indicate that the systematic application of these principles can result in more effective and adaptive learning processes, equipping students with 21st-century skills. However, successful implementation still faces challenges regarding educator competence and technological facilities, which need to be addressed through systematic efforts from various stakeholders.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Cultural Literacy Movement at UPT SPF SD Inpres Mariso 1 and to analyze its supporting factors, obstacles, and impacts on students. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with the principal, teachers, and students in grades IV and V as participants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The findings show that the Cultural Literacy Movement is implemented through reading habits using Indonesian folktales, integration of cultural values into learning, and project-based co-curricular activities. These activities improve students’ cultural understanding, social skills, and character development. Therefore, the Cultural Literacy Movement plays an important role in strengthening students’ character and cultural identity in elementary schools.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the 21st century has fundamentally transformed the educational landscape, particularly following the experience of distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, which accelerated the massive adoption of various digital tools and platforms. This paper aims to examine strategies for utilizing digital technology to enhance learning effectiveness. The discussion covers basic concepts, theoretical foundations such as constructivism, connectivism, and the TPACK and SAMR frameworks, types of applicable technologies, integration strategies, implementation barriers, and methods for evaluating effectiveness. This study reveals that the availability of technology alone is insufficient; successful learning outcomes depend heavily on the teacher’s ability to integrate technology with subject matter and appropriate teaching methods. Effective strategies include aligning technology with learning objectives, implementing blended learning models, and utilizing interactive and adaptive features. In Indonesia, key challenges involve infrastructure gaps and disparities in digital competence across regions. This paper concludes that digital technology serves as a powerful supporting tool for creating meaningful, inclusive, and relevant learning, provided it is applied strategically in accordance with sound pedagogical principles.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the field of education, particularly in the learning process in schools. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of digital technology, identify the challenges encountered, and reflect on its impact on students’ social interactions and character development. The method employed in this study is a qualitative approach using a literature review technique of various relevant scientific journals. The results of the study indicate that digital technology is capable of improving the accessibility and effectiveness of learning, especially when supported by teachers’ competencies within the framework of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). However, several challenges remain, including gaps in digital literacy, limited infrastructure, and negative impacts on students’ social interactions. Therefore, a balanced learning strategy that integrates technology with pedagogical values is necessary. This study contributes to the development of digital learning that is more adaptive, effective, and humanistic.

Abstract

Literasi digital merupakan kompetensi mendasar yang perlu ditanamkan sejak pendidikan dasar di tengah derasnya arus transformasi teknologi informasi dan komunikasi. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis urgensi, strategi implementasi, serta tantangan dan solusi kebijakan literasi digital di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kepustakaan (library research), yaitu menelaah dan menganalisis berbagai sumber literatur seperti jurnal ilmiah nasional dan internasional, hasil penelitian terdahulu, serta dokumen kebijakan yang relevan dengan topik literasi digital pada jenjang pendidikan dasar. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa literasi digital berperan sebagai fondasi kognitif dan kritis, akselerator kualitas pembelajaran, pilar pembentukan karakter kewargaan digital, sekaligus penguat literasi membaca dan numerasi. Implementasinya memerlukan strategi holistik yang mencakup integrasi kurikulum, penguatan berpikir kritis dan kewargaan digital, peningkatan kapasitas pendidik, serta kolaborasi multi-pemangku kepentingan antara sekolah, orang tua, dan pemerintah. Adapun tantangan utama meliputi kesenjangan infrastruktur, keterbatasan kompetensi pedagogis guru, risiko etika dan keamanan digital, serta kurikulum yang belum terintegrasi, yang masing-masing memerlukan solusi kebijakan yang bersifat sistemik dan berkelanjutan. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rujukan bagi perumusan kebijakan literasi digital yang lebih adaptif dan berorientasi pada penguatan karakter siswa sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of implementing the PjBL Model on students' independent character in Pancasila Education. The method used was an experiment with a quasi-experimental design. This study employed a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. This study was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Gowa, located on Jl Pendidikan, Kalebajeng, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The sample used in this study was grade XI.11 (25 students) as the experimental group and grade XI. 10 (26 students) as the control group. The data collection technique in this study used a questionnaire as the primary instrument and observation as a supporting instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney U Test. The results showed that the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model significantly impacted students' independent character in Pancasila Education at SMA Negeri 2 Gowa. This was demonstrated by the results of the hypothesis test using the Mann-Whitney U Test, which obtained a significance value of p < 0.001, thus rejecting H₀ and accepting Hₐ.
