Abstract

Self-efficacy and computational thinking skills are necessary in this technological development age. However, only some studies still discuss the relationship between the two variables. The purpose of this study is to determine the form of relationship between self-efficacy and computational thinking skills of fifth-grade elementary school students. This study applied correlational quantitative research without accompanying the treatment of the subjects. The respondents for this study were 84 fifth-grade students from three public schools in Pekanbaru. Two types of instruments are used in this study, including questionnaires and computational thinking skills tests. The results showed a correlation coefficient of -0.036 with Sig. (2-tailed) 0.747 > 0.05. That is, there is a very low relationship, it has a negative direction, and it is not significant between self-efficacy and computational thinking skills of fifth-grade elementary school students. Self-efficacy contributes to the influence of computational thinking skills by only 0.12%, and other factors influence the remaining 99.88%. This study is expected to provide an overview of self-efficacy and computational thinking skills of fifth-grade students in Pekanbaru and is expected to be an additional reference for further study.

Abstract

The role of the teacher as an educator is very important, teachers are required to be able to use a variety of learning media that are affective and interesting foe students when delivering learning materials. Learning media that can make students active is interactive power point media that has been developed. With the use of interactive power point media, it is hoped that is can focus students’ attention more, so that students are more interested when participating in learning. Interactive power point media can also help students be able to master and optimally use their potential and creativity. It is for this reason that researchers conducted research on Improving Mathematics Learning Outcomes About Addition and Subtraction on Currency by Using Power Point Interactive Media For Grade 2 Students of SD Negeri 14 Sukajadi, Pekanbaru City

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the results of the use of multimedia technology regarding its effect on student learning motivation and teacher professionalism. The research method used in this study is library searching by searching for and collecting various other research sources to be studied in depth. The relationship between technological developments and the professionalism of a teacher provides a framework for understanding how important effective learning is in attracting students' interest in learning and understanding in the classroom. Technological developments in the form of using multimedia as a learning medium for students can be an effort to increase student learning motivation which in fact has a big influence on the professionalism of teaching staff. After using interactive multimedia, students' understanding increases. Students' motivation or enthusiasm for learning also increases so that the concepts of the learning material can be absorbed well.

Abstract

Jigsaw is a multifunctional cooperative learning structure. Jigsaw can be used in a number of ways to achieve a variety of objectives but is primarily used for presentation and acquiring new material, this structure creates interdependence. Jigsaw-type cooperative learning is a learning method based on a form of multifunctional structure of learning groups that can be used on all subjects and all levels to develop each group's expertise and skills that they have learned previously at expert team meetings. In the jigsaw type cooperative learning model, there are groups of origin and expert groups. The home group is the parent group of students with diverse abilities, genders and family backgrounds. Expert group, which is a group of students consisting of members of different origin groups, is assigned to study the topic and then explain it to members of the origin group. The expert group is a combination of several experts from the origin group. The key to the success of jigsaw is interdependence, i.e. each student depends on his/her team members to be able to provide the necessary information in order to perform well during the assessment.

Abstract

Reading is an essential activity of learning. In this study, the researchers investigated the opinions of elementary school teachers, university students majoring in elementary school teacher education, and elementary school students on the mathematics audible book "Asyiknya Bermain Setatak". The researchers distributed questionnaires to collect the data. Data collection was carried out randomly using the random sample method. The respondents comprised 75 people (9 elementary school teachers, 53 university students majoring in elementary school teacher education, and 13 elementary school students) in Pekanbaru, Riau. The data were analyzed using  Rasch Model with item response theory (IRT). Based on the data analysis, all statements are valid and reliable, and it means that the items can be used to judge the design of the audible book "Asyiknya Bermain Setatak".Based on the results of the study, it was found that the audible book math media was in accordance with the learning of elementary school students. The use of math audible book is also easy to do by students, teachers, and prospective teachers. Math audible books also provide positive benefits in learning mathematics. Based on this, it can be concluded that teachers should consider using audible books as a media for mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the feasibility of students' cultural awareness items. The method used in this study is quantitative. A total of 24 items were developed to measure cultural awareness, and the research subjects consisted of 23 students. Data analysis was carried out using the Rasch model. The results showed that of the 24 items developed, 20 items were declared feasible to use, with each person and item reliability showing relatively high values. However, some items still need to be improved to improve their ability to measure more diverse students' cultural awareness.

Abstract

This study aims to describe realistic mathematics education (RME) in helping students' understanding of concepts in statistical material about data collection. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods with a design research approach. The subjects of the study were 29 fifth-grade students of a public school in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. The results of this study show that RME is applied in learning with the following steps, namely first, providing and explaining contextual problems to be solved by students; second, students solve contextual problems for mathematical models in their own way; third, discuss and compare each problem solving given by students; Fourth, students conclude and summarize the learning concept. From these activities, students can develop knowledge and skills in collecting and presenting data.

Abstract

As an international benchmark, the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022 evaluates the educational performance of 15-year-old students across various countries. It has been observed that the average mathematics score globally declined in 2022. Understanding the responses of mathematics teachers, as practitioners, to the PISA 2022 results is crucial for evaluating the reasons behind this decline in mathematics scores. This research aims to explore and understand the perspectives of Indonesian mathematics teachers on the factors contributing to the low PISA 2022 mathematics scores. This study employs a qualitative approach, with participants being randomly selected and includes interviews with 36 mathematics teachers in Indonesia. According to the statements provided by teachers, the decline in mathematics scores in the 2022 PISA, relative to the years 2018 and 2015, can be attributed to six primary factors: pandemic-related issues, curriculum, individual factors, resource limitations, student factors, and parental involvement. Subsequently, mathematics teachers provided several recommendations for the government, schools, and parents that might enhance student mathematics achievement. These recommendations include conducting more training, improving ICT facilities in schools, and strengthening parental knowledge about the importance of parental support. The findings of this study offer various recommendations that could be implemented by the government, schools, and mathematics teachers to improve student mathematical achievement and potentially increase PISA scores in 2025.

Abstract

The critical and creative thinking abilities of students are still low, with the greatest potential for development lying in mathematics education. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing differentiated instruction to enhance students' critical and creative thinking abilities. The study employs a quantitative design with a quasi-experimental two-group model, comprising an experimental group and a control group. The research participants consisted of 21 students in the experimental group and 21 students in the control group. Data collection instruments used were tests of critical and creative thinking. Data analysis techniques involved statistical tests, including tests for normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing on pre-test and post-test results. The outcomes of the N-Gain Score calculations indicate that the average N-Gain Score for critical thinking abilities in the experimental group is 61.1%, which falls into the category of moderately effective. On the other hand, the control group only reaches 29.7%, which falls into the category of ineffective. For creative thinking abilities, the average N-Gain Score in the experimental group is 59.2%, also falling into the moderately effective category, while the control group only achieves 45.3%, falling into the less effective category. Additionally, the results of student grouping based on learning abilities reveal that the post-test scores of critical and creative thinking abilities for students in the upper group are higher compared to students in the middle and lower groups within the experimental group.
