Abstract

This preliminary study aims to analyze junior high school students' analogical reasoning on the material of flat-sided solid shapes as a basis for developing a more effective mathematics learning model. Analogous reasoning has an important role in supporting high-level mathematical thinking and conceptual understanding, but students' abilities in this area are still relatively low. This qualitative descriptive research, involving three ninth-grade students from three junior high schools in Tasikmalaya City. The subjects were selected purposively, namely one student each from 3 schools who had the highest average mathematics score. Data collection was carried out through analogical reasoning tests, semi-structured interviews, and documentation with a focus on the four main components of analogical reasoning, namely encoding, inferring, mapping, and applying. The results show that students' analogical reasoning is generally still relatively low, especially in the inferring, mapping and applying components. This finding indicates that students' difficulties do not only stem from weak conceptual mastery, but also from the lack of explicit and systematic analogy-based learning strategies in the classroom, so that it is necessary to develop effective learning models to develop analogical reasoning.

Abstract

Background: Blumea balsamifera L., locally known as CAPA, has long been used by the people of Aceh for various traditional treatments, particularly wound healing. In South Aceh, the leaves are commonly applied topically by squeezing the juice directly onto injured skin. Previous studies indicate that excessive use of chemical wound medications may cause allergic reactions, dryness, and delayed wound healing. The World Health Organization (WHO) also recommends the utilization of traditional medicines, including herbal remedies, for public health maintenance. Objectives: This study aims to review the potential of Blumea balsamifera L. as a wound healing agent and to assess its feasibility for development into a gel-based topical formulation. Methods: A literature review was conducted by collecting 100 articles related to the medicinal use of Blumea balsamifera L. From these, selected articles specifically discussing its application for wound healing were analyzed. Sources were obtained from indexed international journals and SINTA-accredited national journals, followed by a discussion of a proposed research plan for CAPA leaf extract gel formulation. Results: The reviewed studies indicate that Blumea balsamifera L. possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and shows strong potential to be developed as a wound healing agent in gel form, which supports effective drug delivery and wound moisture balance. Conclusion: Blumea balsamifera L. is a promising natural alternative for wound healing. The development of a gel-based formulation may provide a safe, practical, and effective approach that aligns with modern wound care principles and supports the use of traditional medicinal plants.

Abstract

Pesantren leadership plays a crucial role in the success of Tahfizhul Qur’an education, particularly in shaping students’ motivation to consistently memorize the Qur’an. At the Tahfizhul Qur’an Syuhada Islamic Boarding School, effective leadership practices are considered decisive for the quality and sustainability of the tahfizh program. Although many pesantrens implement leadership grounded in religious values, empirical studies examining how a religious-participatory leadership strategy can enhance students’ motivation in a local context remain limited. This study aims to analyze the pesantren leadership strategies in increasing students’ motivation in the Tahfizhul Qur’an program. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the pesantren leader, tahfizh supervisors, and students, and analyzed using an interactive data analysis model. The findings indicate that the pesantren leader applies a religious-participatory leadership style that emphasizes exemplary conduct, direct involvement in the tahfizh program, and the internalization of spiritual values. Students’ motivation is enhanced through spiritual encouragement, personal guidance, recognition of memorization achievements, and a structured, consistent tahfizh program. The study concludes that effective pesantren leadership significantly determines students’ motivation, discipline, and responsibility in maintaining Qur’anic memorization. These findings provide practical guidance for developing humanistic, religious, and sustainable tahfizh leadership models in other pesantrens.

Abstract

21st-century education requires students to master mathematical problem-solving skills and self-regulated learning (SRL), but these skills remain a challenge for junior high school students in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the impact of implementing a Collaborative Learning Model of the PBL combined with a scientific approach (observing, questioning, reasoning/trying, communicating) on students' mathematical problem-solving skills and SRL. The study used a pre-experimental method with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design on 31 seventh-grade students at a junior high school in Sleman Regency. Data on problem-solving skills were collected through a 5-item essay test with a maximum theoretical score of 50, while SRL was measured using a Likert scale questionnaire. Inferential analysis used the Wilcoxon signed-rank test for problem-solving skills (the assumption of normality was not met) and the paired sample t-test for SRL. The results showed a significant increase in problem-solving skills from 15.32 to 30.92, with posttest achievement equivalent to 61.84% of the theoretical maximum score. SRL also increased significantly from 121.81 to 122.74, although the mean difference was relatively small compared to the scale range. These findings indicate changes in students’ achievement after the intervention; however, the results should be interpreted cautiously due to the short intervention duration and the limitations of the one-group pretest–posttest design without a control group.

Abstract

This study analyzes the enforcement of adultery in the Alas Tribe community in Southeast Aceh Regency, highlighting the dominance of customary law mechanisms over formal law enforcement, as provided in Qanun Aceh Number 6 of 2014 concerning Jinayat Law. Although the qanun normatively regulates criminal sanctions for adultery, its implementation at the local level has not been effective. This study uses a normative-empirical approach, combining analyses of legislation, case studies, and in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, Wilayatul Hisbah officials, and Sharia Court judges. The results show a dualism in the mechanisms for resolving adultery cases, characterized by a strong community preference for customary law. Customary-based resolution is seen as better at maintaining family honor and restoring social harmony, but it also undermines legal certainty and the effectiveness of criminal punishment. This article argues that the dominance of customary mechanisms reflects the failure of normative integration between jinayat law and customary law, resulting in the inability to achieve the objectives of Islamic criminal punishment (maqāṣid al-'uqūbāt), particularly the deterrent effect, justice, and equality before the law. This research contributes to the development of Islamic legal pluralism studies by emphasizing the importance of functional integration between customary law and Islamic criminal law within indigenous Muslim communities.

Abstract

This study discusses the transformation of the role of the Independent Education Accreditation Agency (IEAA/LAMDIK) in ensuring the quality of education study programmes at Islamic Higher Education Institutions (IHEI/PTKI) in the global era. This study stems from the need for reform in the quality of Indonesian higher education amid the challenges of globalisation, digitalisation, and the demands of 21st-century competencies. LAMDIK serves as an independent accreditation agency that plays a strategic role in ensuring external quality, replacing the role of National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (NAA-HE/BAN-PT) for education clusters, with a new paradigm of accreditation based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE). The objectives of this study are to describe the transformation of LAMDIK's role, analyse the implementation of outcome-based accreditation policies, and identify the challenges faced by PTKI in the accreditation process. The method used is a multi-case qualitative approach involving three PTKIs: Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) North Sumatra, and Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Aceh Tamiang. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies, and analysed using the Miles, Huberman & Saldana model. The study results show that LAMDIK has undergone a paradigmatic transformation in policies, instruments, and the accreditation process, from a compliance-based system to a performance- and achievement-based system. LAMDIK acts as a quality regulator, facilitator of a culture of quality, and catalyst for change in academic governance at PTKI. However, challenges remain, such as limited human resources, digital literacy, and the integration of Islamic epistemology into accreditation instruments. In conclusion, LAMDIK has become an agent of transformation in the quality of higher education in PTKI, which assesses administrative compliance and builds a sustainable quality culture oriented towards global competitiveness.

Abstract

Objective – This study aims to examine in depth how teachers’ beliefs influence the conceptualization and practice of ethnomathematics-based assessment in mathematics education.Methodology – This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, involving 10 junior high school mathematics teachers in Deli Serdang. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, and data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.Findings – The results indicate that ethnomathematics-based assessment is understood not merely as a technical innovation in evaluation but as a pedagogical and epistemological process that connects mathematics, culture, and students' learning experiences. Teachers view mathematics as a universal science that can be interpreted within local cultural contexts; consequently, assessments aligned with students' socio-cultural realities are deemed more meaningful. This study also found that ethnomathematics-based assessment is a process of cultural mathematization that involves identifying cultural practices, transforming mathematical concepts, and translating them into contextual assessment activities. Furthermore, teachers' beliefs play a crucial role in the implementation of assessment, although a gap persists between teachers' positive beliefs and classroom assessment practices due to limited systemic support.Contribution – This study elucidates the process of cultural mathematization in assessment design and identifies the gap between beliefs and practices as a basis for developing more contextually relevant training and educational policies
