Abstract

This study aims to formulate an integrated model for deep learning and cultural literacy in teaching regional songs at the junior high/senior high school level within the Merdeka Curriculum framework. Amidst the cultural literacy crisis and the dominance of global pop music that threatens the existence of regional songs among teenagers, a more meaningful and inclusive learning approach is needed. Using a qualitative, literature-based design, this study analyzed curriculum documents and literature on deep learning, cultural literacy, and SDG 4.7. The results show that regional songs are highly relevant to the Music Arts Learning Outcomes and the Global Diversity dimension of the Pancasila Student Profile. The developed integration model consists of four continuous stages: Contextual Exploration, Critical Appreciation, Reflection and Connection, and Creative Expression. The inclusive characteristic is the main uniqueness of this model, as the absence of demands for musical technical skills as prerequisites allows all students to actively participate. This model contributes to achieving SDG 4.7 targets by strengthening the appreciation of cultural diversity and strengthening the Global Diversity dimension in the Pancasila Student Profile. This research provides practical implications for teachers and curriculum developers in designing meaningful and inclusive regional song learning

Abstract

The role of traditional dancers as cultural agents significantly contributes to preserving the artistic identity of a region. However, in the face of rapid societal changes, the quality of performance artistry has undergone a significant transformation across generations. This article examines how the values of performance artistry have evolved, the challenges faced in preserving dance techniques and ethos, and the educational and cultural transmission strategies that can strengthen the quality of performance across generations. Using a qualitative approach through literature review and interviews with intergenerational artists, the study reveals that the transformation of performance artistry reflects a paradigm shift from mere technical inheritance to a more contextual actualization of cultural identity

Abstract

This article examines Gamelan Gambang as a medium for the development of community-based arts education, with a particular focus on the preservation of Bali’s local cultural values. Gamelan Gambang is a sacred gamelan ensemble traditionally performed in Balinese religious ceremonies, especially within the context of mortuary rites. Beyond its musical and ritual functions, the ensemble embodies philosophical, spiritual, and social values that are highly relevant for transformation into contextualized arts education practices. Through a community-based arts education approach, Gamelan Gambang may serve not only as an instrument for aesthetic learning but also as a vehicle for strengthening cultural identity and transmitting local wisdom. This article elaborates the theoretical framework of community-based arts education, outlines strategies for implementing tradition-oriented learning, and discusses both the challenges and opportunities involved in revitalizing Gamelan Gambang as an educational medium. The study recommends an integrative collaboration between formal educational institutions and local communities in developing participatory arts learning models that are rooted in local values while remaining adaptive to contemporary social transformations.

Abstract

This study investigates how managerial and institutional factors influence the firm-level speed of capital structure adjustment (SOA). While prior research on dynamic capital structure largely estimates aggregate adjustment speeds, limited attention has been given to granular SOA measured at the firm-year level and its relationship with managerial decision-making and institutional context. Using panel data from 71 non-financial firms included in the Kompas100 Indeks, representing the 100 largest and most liquid companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), over the period 2019-2024, this study examines how CEO education, CEO tenure, and political connections affect firms’ leverage adjustment behavior. The analysis employs panel regression models to estimate firm-level SOA and evaluate the direct and moderating effects of managerial and institutional variables. The results show that CEO education significantly accelerates leverage adjustment, indicating that firms led by more highly educated executives adjust their capital structures toward target levels more quickly. In contrast, CEO tenure does not show a significant effect on SOA. The findings also reveal that political connections slow leverage adjustment but strengthen the positive influence of CEO education on SOA, suggesting that managerial capability becomes more effective when supported by institutional access. These findings highlight that capital structure adjustment is shaped by the interaction between managerial decision-making and institutional networks, rather than by managerial characteristics alone.

Abstract

Abstract

This qualitative descriptive study explores the manifestations of student morality in collaborative project-based learning in dance and vocal arts education at SMA Kristen Anak Panah Nabire, Indonesia. This research aims to investigate how aesthetic experiences and collaborative artistic activities contribute to the internalization and expression of moral values. Data collection was conducted through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis during the "Warisan Budaya Nusantara" (Nusantara Cultural Heritage) collaborative art project, with 64 students and 2 art teachers as participants. Data were collected through classroom observations, reflective journals, and semi-structured interviews with students and teachers. The analysis results show four main manifestations of morality: (1) the growth of personal and collective responsibility in group commitments; (2) the development of empathy and social awareness during the rehearsal process; (3) the strengthening of cooperation and solidarity in resolving conflicts and achieving artistic goals; and (4) the emergence of moral reflection through aesthetic experiences. These findings indicate that moral values are not only transmitted cognitively but are also experienced through social interaction, emotional experiences, and shared reflection within a contextual creative process. The implications highlight that project-based learning in arts education can function as a moral ecology—an environment where artistic collaboration becomes a living process of ethical formation. This study contributes to the theoretical discourse on art and morality, and provides practical recommendations for teachers and curriculum designers to foster character development through arts education.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the implementation of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) with an integration-interconnection approach at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) and its contribution to SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 16 (peace and justice), and SDG 17 (global partnership). Theoretical framework:  The theoretical framework is based on KH Ahmad Dahlan's thoughts on modern Islamic education, the concept of integration-interconnection of knowledge, contextual curriculum theory, the warning of "normal science", and the AIK policy as a compulsory course in PTM. Literature review: AIK is seen as a praxis of educational values that shape Islamic character, although it still faces a dichotomy of science. Integration-interconnection is believed to make AIK more transformative, in accordance with the ideas of Brady and Kuhn. The relevance of AIK is increasingly evident in the context of SDGs 4, 16, and 17. Methods: The research uses a descriptive-qualitative method based on literature studies with primary data (Muhammadiyah policy, AIK curriculum, learning practices) and secondary data (academic literature). The analysis follows the Miles & Huberman model, with validity maintained through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. Results: The results of the study show that the application of AIK based on integration-interconnection in UMS can produce learning that is not only a transfer of knowledge, but also a transfer of values. AIK directs students to a comprehensive understanding that includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This model is relevant to Muhammadiyah's vision of modern Islamic education that progresses and supports the achievement of SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 16 (peace and justice), and SDG 17 (global partnership). Implications: It is necessary to reconstruct the AIK curriculum to be transformative and contextual, to strengthen the identity of PT Muhammadiyah, improve the quality of education, foster student character, and support sustainable development.  Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the association of AIK based on integration-interconnection in UMS with the achievement of the SDGs, so that AIK is positioned not only as a typical Islamic course of Muhammadiyah, but also as a strategic instrument for inclusive and sustainable global education development.
