Abstract

This study aims to systematically review performance measuring factors in MSMEs in the digital era in Indonesia. The research method uses Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the design of the PRISMA framework. The data sources used were obtained from various databases of quality scientific publications including emerald, taylor and francis, springerlink, and sciencedirect, with a time span from January 2020 to June 2025. A total of 24 international scientific articles published in the period were analyzed for further identification on the main trends, main topics, and research directions. The results of the study show that the role of digital transformation has become an important factor in shaping the performance of MSMEs in the modern era. The factors that measure the performance of MSMEs are related to entrepreneurial competence, adaptation to technology, innovation ability, and government support. Some of these supporting factors also support resilience and sustainability for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). However, the success of work achievements for business actors cannot be separated from adequate organizational readiness and resources, as well as good governance. This study contributes academically in the form of a conceptual framework for performance improvement measures for MSMEs, as well as providing recommendations as strategies for micro, small, and medium business actors to increase productivity so that businesses can grow and be sustainable in the digital era.

Abstract

This study employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method following the PRISMA 2020 Statement guidelines to identify the main models and indicators used in measuring the performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The literature selection process includes the stages of identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion, resulting in ten articles from reputable Q1 international journals. The analysis reveals that the most frequently used performance measurement models are integrated performance models such as the Balanced Scorecard, Performance Prism, and models based on resource capability, customer, internal process, and financial perspectives. Commonly used indicators include sales growth, profitability, market share, customer satisfaction, process flexibility, technology adoption, and business sustainability. The study concludes that although financial measures remain dominant, non-financial dimensions—such as digital capability, stakeholder engagement, and internal process effectiveness—are increasingly important for MSMEs operating in the context of global market dynamics and digital transformation. The implications of this study provide theoretical contributions to the development of MSME performance measurement frameworks and offer practical guidance for MSME managers in selecting indicators that align with the characteristics of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Abstract

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the healthcare sector, including independent dental practices, have experienced significant growth following the COVID-19 pandemic due to increased public awareness of disease prevention. However, this sector still faces challenges in complying with legal regulations and adapting to digital innovation to maintain competitiveness. Provisions such as the Medical Practice Law and various regulations from the Minister of Health require compliance with facility standards, medical waste management, and patient protection as requirements for obtaining operational permits. Furthermore, utilising digital technology through online promotions, social media, and electronic communications is a crucial strategy for attracting younger generations and building a professional image. Studies show that this approach can strengthen public engagement and trust in healthcare services. The case of the relocation of a family dental clinic in Malang City illustrates these challenges, particularly in terms of legal compliance and the use of digital media. Through a legal and digitalisation assistance programme, the clinic was supported in preparing legal documents such as hazardous waste agreements, pharmacy partnerships, and standard operating procedures. Furthermore, a digital marketing strategy was designed to strengthen brand identity and increase engagement on social media. As a result, the clinic demonstrated significant progress in legal readiness and improved digital image, although minor improvements are still needed. This programme demonstrates that the synergy between regulatory compliance and digital transformation can be a crucial foundation for the sustainability and competitiveness of healthcare SMEs in the modern era.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role as a driver of the local economy through expanding job opportunities and improving people's living standards. However, operational challenges are still often encountered by MSME actors, especially in product development, marketing strategies, and the implementation of the digital financial system. This study aims to formulate and apply contextual business development strategies for Aisyah Jus MSMEs in Malang Regency. Through a qualitative approach based on case studies, the research team carried out an intensive mentoring program for three months. The intervention is focused on three main domains: (1) product innovation through the development of banner design and brand identity, (2) marketing expansion via integration with the Grabfood platform, and (3) financial modernization with the adoption of the QRIS system. The results of this assistance are expected not only to strengthen the competitiveness of Aisyah Jus MSMEs in the digital ecosystem, but also to be a strategic reference for the development of similar MSMEs in the culinary industry.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of product innovation and customer engagement on repurchase intention of hijab products in TikTok Shop with brand trust as a mediating variable. The research method uses a quantitative approach with causal research design. The research sample consisted of 228 female employees of PT Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia who actively shop at TikTok Shop. Data were collected through a Likert-based questionnaire, then analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that product innovation (β = 0.366; p < 0.001) and customer engagement (β = 0.385; p < 0.001) had a significant positive effect on repurchase intention. Both also had a significant effect on brand trust, which in turn had a strong influence on repurchase intention (β = 0.421; p < 0.001). A mediation test demonstrated that brand trust mediated the relationship between product innovation (β = 0.091; p = 0.013) and customer engagement (β = 0.162; p = 0.007) and repurchase intention. This finding indicates that product innovation and consumer engagement need to be integrated with a brand trust-building strategy to increase loyalty and repurchase intention among hijab consumers on the TikTok Shop platform.

Abstract

Digital transformation has fundamentally altered the consumption behavior of the younger generation, particularly Generation Z, who are digital natives. In the context of the cosmetics industry, this phenomenon is evident among Emina consumers in Malang City, who exhibit high engagement with digital promotions but do not always translate this engagement into actual purchase decisions. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, digital payment adoption, and promotional strategies on consumer purchase decisions, with shopping behavior as a mediating variable, based on the Stimulus–Organism–Response (SOR) model. The research employs a quantitative approach using an explanatory research design. Data were collected through a survey of 385 Generation Z respondents who use Emina products, selected via purposive sampling. Analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine both direct and indirect relationships among the variables. The results indicate that digital payment adoption and promotional strategies have a positive and significant effect on purchase decisions, both directly and through the mediation of shopping behavior. Conversely, financial literacy does not have a significant influence, indicating the dominance of emotional and technological factors over cognitive considerations in Gen Z's consumption behavior. This study extends the SOR model by affirming the role of shopping behavior as a psychological mediator and expands the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) into the realm of digital consumption behavior. Practically, the findings offer guidance for the cosmetics industry and fintech developers in designing more emotionally resonant, interactive, and adaptive promotional strategies and payment systems aligned with the behavior of the younger generation.
