Abstract

Abstract

This article discusses commenting on the characteristics of Vietnam and Indonesia art education curricula based on colonial influences, post-socialization economic reforms, and local cultural values. Vietnamese art education was influenced by the French art program, which began in the later decades of the nineteenth century and adopted a fine arts education program. In contrast, the Indonesian art education program started in the early part of the twentieth century and reflects the Dutch style of art education that highly valued applied arts/crafts. This study explores the reciprocal relationship between economic growth and the development of art education in both countries. Through a historical-comparative approach, this study highlights how socio-economic transformations have shaped arts education policies and practices. Moreover, it assesses the contribution of art education in developing the creative economy. It suggests measures for the improvement of art education so that it can promote sustainable cultural and economic development. Based on the results of this study, it is possible to successfully combine such local features as Bale culture with foreign art education curricula to create a solid foundation for financial culture in the region via art education. Abstract

Grammar proficiency continues to be a significant difficulty for students in higher education, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) settings.  This burning issue calls for innovative teaching strategies that actively engage learners in language use. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of problem-based learning (PBL) in grammar instruction and evaluate its effectiveness in improving students' grammatical competency. This research employed a collaborative classroom action research design. It was conducted over two cycles to observe the changes in students' grammar performance through iterative interventions. The participants were 32 second-semester students from the English Department. The instruments used to collect data were observation notes and grammar tests designed to measure changes in students' grammar performance. The data were analyzed by comparing the results from two research cycles, focusing on the average scores and the proportion of students achieving the minimum mastery criteria. The results showed a significant improvement: the average student score increased from 62.5 in the first cycle to 72.4 in the second, and the percentage of students who met the minimal mastery criteria rose from 42.3% to 78%. In conclusion, problem-based learning positively impacted students’ grammar proficiency. The implication of this result suggests that PBL not only enhances students' grammatical competence but also improves their speaking and writing abilities by encouraging active communication, fostering motivation, and engaging them in meaningful problem-solving tasks.

Abstract

Robusta coffee (Coffea canephora) genetic diversity is very important for breeding programmes aimed at increasing yield and adaptability. This diversity can be assessed through various morphological characters, especially leaf phenotype characters, which serve as indicators of genetic variation. This research was conducted from May to August 2024. Data collection was carried out by purposive sampling using the exploration and characterisation method of 30 coffee plants in the Traditional Coffee Plantation area, Bogorejo Village, Gedong Tataan District, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province. Qualitative character data collection was carried out modifying IPGRI descriptors. Based on the data obtained, there were no significant differences in qualitative characteristics and quantitative characteristics of leaves on 30 coffee plants. This indicates a low genetic diversity in the plantation.
