Abstract

Vocabulary is most important in learning a language, and thus it should be taught before teaching other language skills. Teachers need to plan which words to teach to make students learn vocabulary easier; however, Indonesian high school curriculum does not specify which vocabulary to teach. Therefore, this research was aimed at finding out the list of vocabulary required by the curriculum of junior and senior high schools in Indonesia and whether they have learned those words after graduating high school levels. Vocabulary used in texts in the national examinations is interpreted as the curriculum-expected vocabulary; therefore, the data for curriculum expectation were collected from previous national examinations. The vocabulary was classified based on most-frequently used vocabulary provided by Nation (2006) with 14,000 word-families categorized into 14 levels. Only the first 5 levels (1st - 5th 1,000) were used in this research. Later, 1,775 high school fresh graduates were tested with this vocabulary to predict the percentage of the vocabulary they have learned. The results showed that the expected vocabulary size of junior high school graduates was the 1st 2,000 words and the 1st 3,000 words for senior high school graduates. Compared to the graduate predicted vocabulary size, they only had 72% vocabulary in the 1st 1,000, 54% in the 2nd 1,000, 49% in the 3rd. These results suggest that the graduate vocabulary size has not satisfied the curriculum expectation; therefore, Indonesian high school students should be taught all words in the first 3,000 list to be able to comprehend texts in the national examination.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia needs enough number of funds. Actually, there are two kinds of the fund sources : the domectic funds and foreign funds. In Indonesia the number of of domestic funds is often smaller than that is needed, so forcing to search for alternative fund sources, that is, foreign loan. Foreign loan haves big risk. The inflow of foreign loan will incrase money incirculation, so that it can trigger inflation. On the other hand, it is obligation to pay in installment of the principal loan and its interest. This is a problem, that annually always burdens the Indonesian budget. The economic situation in Indonesia more difficult for the future. Actually from year to year, the fund need in a country is increasingly bigger. From this background, it is interesting to study how causality correlation pattern between foreign loan and budget deficit. The result of this research showed that there are two-way causality correlations with error correction model (ECM), namedly, foreign loan influences budget deficit and budget deficit influences foreign loan. Key words: foreign loan, budget deficit.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Keragaman Habitat, Pertumbuhan, H. asinina, Morfometrik, Struktur PopulasiAbstract: Abalone (Haliotis asinina) is a marine gastropod which has commercial value. Abalone spread in the waters of Soropia, Southeast Sulawesi.  H. asinina likes special habitat types, such as rocky habitats overgrown with algae and seagrass habitats. Bokori and Toronipa represent these two special habitat types which are located in Soropia waters. The study aims to assess the growth of abalone (H. asinina) populations in different habitats through the relationship of morphometric dimensions, condition factors, and composition of size groups.  Growth data were analyzed by non-linear regression equations using data analysis programs in MS. Excel 2010.  The relationship between L with Wt and L with Lc at 2 locations shows a positive and strong relationship (R2 <70%), while the relationship between L and other dimensions such as Bc, Tc, Lc, and Vc shows a weak relationship.  Growth patterns in Bokori consist of isometric and allometric negative growths, while Toronipa, the pattern of negative allometric growth. The average condition factor fluctuates in each month of observation and the highest in Bokori.  Bokori waters are dominated by percentage of juvenile groups of 52.22%  in the size class of 27.4-49.62 mm. Toronipa is dominated by adult or broodstock abalone of 66.67% in the size class of 50.62-84.42 mm.  Toronipa is dominated by the percentage of the adult group at 66.67% in the size class of 50.62-84.42 mm. The diversity of habitat types affects the growth parameters of abalone (H.asinina).  The results of study are expected to be important information for efforts to formulate appropriate abalone resource management. Keywords: Diversity of Habitat, Growth, H. asinina, Morphometric, Population structure
