Abstract

Physics education students' understanding of buoyancy can differ from student to student and is difficult to know accurately. Appropriate instruments are needed to diagnose the conception of physics education students. This research aims to determine how physics education students think about buoyancy by applying a five-tier isomorphic instrument. The respondents of this research were physics education students at Padang State University who had studied Archimedes' principle regarding buoyancy, totaling 135 people. The research results show that physics education students have different average percentages of correct answers regarding the number of tiers. The average percentage of correct answers in the first tier is 13%, while in the combination of tier 1 and tier 3 (two-tier) is 7%. Overall, the average percentage of correct scores based on tiers one to four (four-tier instrument) on the buoyancy concept is 4%. They are, furthermore, based on isomorphic analysis: ISO-1 = 8%, ISO-2 = 1%, and ISO-3 = 8%. These results are then classified as poor conceptual understanding because the percentage of conceptual understanding obtained is below 30%. The source of physics education students' conceptions comes from personal thoughts about 80%, from observations about 15%, and the rest from other sources.

Abstract

Science process skills are skills that students must have in processing the scientific knowledge they have acquired. Both knowledge gained from the environment and digital media with literacy skills. So the ability to argue scientifically is needed to be able to convey information obtained scientifically so that it can solve problems in everyday life. Therefore, this study aims to analyze students' science process skills, argumentation skills, and digital literacy. The method used in this study is the explanatory mix method. The population in this study were students of MAN 5 Batanghari, while the sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling, namely students of class X IPA with a total of 35 students. The data collection instruments in this study were in the form of interview sheets, digital literacy questionnaires, and essay questions. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistical methods. Gender-based SPS for students with dominant results (always good) is female. Then the ability to argue is also more in the female gender. Meanwhile, digital literacy that has the maximum value is male students

Abstract

The character of school students is currently in the declining category. This is due to the lack of emphasis on the time of the learning process and affects the level of success of the functions and objectives of national education. This study aims to determine the characters that are not embedded in the physics learning process for class X material for circular motion. The research method used is a qualitative method with the type of documentation research. The researcher uses a documentation study because the subject used is a 2013 curriculum teacher's book for class X circular motion. After studying the circular motion material, it is known that there are 18 characters that must be instilled during the physics learning process. However, these 18 characters are not fully embedded because there are some characters that are missing and will have a continuous negative impact on students. Due to the imperfection of this research, in the future, in the textbook of physics learning teacher class X on Circular Motion in the 2013 curriculum and its subsequent development, more attention should be paid to the character of students so that all these characters are fulfilled in order to create a good generation

Abstract

These character values are 18 contained in the Thematic Book for Grade III Elementary School Students which can be studied by educators through analysis. This study aims to examine the analysis of material content in the Thematic Book for Grade III Elementary School Students Curriculum 2013 Revised Edition 2018 which contains character values. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of document study. The subject in this study is the researcher himself. The objects used in this study are contained in data and data sources. This research data is in the form of 18 character values in the 2013 Curriculum. The data source is in the form of Thematic Books for Grade III Elementary School Students Curriculum 2013 Revised Edition 2018. The data is analyzed by content analysis method. The content analysis techniques used, namely unitizing sampling, recording, reducing, inferring, and narrating. The results of the analysis of character values studies in the Thematic Book for Grade III Elementary School Students Curriculum 2013 Revised Edition 2018 are religious, honest, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, respect achievements, democratic, curiosity, national spirit, love of the country, friendly/communicative, love peace, love of reading, care for the environment, care for social, and responsible. By reviewing the contents of the Thematic Book for Class III Students Curriculum 2013 Revised Edition 2018, it is hoped that educators can find out the character values contained in the book and be able to help students form student character values in each of their learning activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study aims to identify and analyze the content of character values contained in the 2013 curriculum textbook 2013 revised edition 2017, especially on theme VII sub theme 2 class V elementary school. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method with a type of document study. This research is a content analysis research conducted in six stages, namely unitizing, sampling, recording, reducing, inferring, and narrating. The source of data in this study is the 2013 curriculum textbook revised edition 2017 grade V elementary school. The results in this study show that in the 2013 revised edition of the 2013 curriculum textbook, class V elementary schools, especially in Theme VII sub theme 2 in each learning activity contains a content of character values that must be developed and instilled in students through a series of activities in learning and the content of character values developed in each learning tends to be different but there are still some character value content that must be developed and instilled in students the same between each learning and the development of the learner's character value content refers to eighteen character value charges but there are also some character value charges developed not based on it.

Abstract

Traditional honey gathering is performed by most Malay communities in Jambi Province, Indonesia. The process of honey gathering is not merely taking honey, and other associated products such as wax, but has also developed into an important cultural ritual, and even become a part of the identity of the Jambi Malay community. Traditional honey gathering also involves values ​​and local knowledge that can enrich science teaching and learning. This study aims to reveal the science content of traditional honey gathering in Jambi. Data were collected through participatory observations as well as a literature review. The results show that the traditional honey gathering can be integrated into teaching to create more meaningful science learning, especially in junior high school. The integration can be implemented by employing constructivist based learning models that are adjusted to the students’ conditions and the environment around their schools. Keywords: local knowledge, traditional honey gathering, science learning ABSTRAK Pengambilan madu secara tradisional dilakukan oleh sebagian besar masyarakat melayu di Propinsi Jambi. Prosesi pengambilan madu tidak semata-mata hanya untuk mendapatkan madu atau pun produk lain yang terkait madu seperti malam (lilin), tetapi sudah berkembang menjadi budaya bahkan menjadi identitas masyarakat Melayu Jambi. Pengambilan madu secara tradisional juga mengandung nilai-nilai dan pengetahuan yang dapat diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran sains. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyingkap aspek ethnosains dari tradisi pengambilan madu pada masyarakat Melayu Jambi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam (in-depth interview), serta kajian literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengambilan madu tradisional dapat diintegrasikan untuk menciptakan pembelajaran IPA di SMP yang lebih bermakna. Dalam implementasinya, pembelajaran dapat dilakukan dengan model-model pembelajaran yang berbasis konstruktivisme, sesuai dengan kondisi siswa dan lingkungan di sekitar sekolah. Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to explore the understanding and effectiveness of teachers' responses to the socialisation and training on scientific article writing strategies at Al-Hidayah Foundation. Methodology: The research method used in this study is a quantitative method with a descriptive statistical approach. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and questionnaires distributed to teachers participating in training and socialization. The questionnaire was designed to measure initial understanding, changes in perception, and increased ability to write scientific articles before and after training. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistics assisted by SPSS. Main Findings: This socialisation and training is designed to improve teachers' skills and knowledge in writing publishable scientific articles, motivated by the need to improve the quality of education and learning in schools, teachers are expected not only to act as teachers but also as researchers who actively contribute to the development of science, with the socialisation of this training it was found that some teachers were still confused about how to compile good and correct scientific articles. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research introduces a new training method or strategy, this research includes an evaluation or analysis of the impact of the training. Overall, this research can advance knowledge by providing a new model or approach in scientific writing training for teachers, as well as offering new insights that can be applied in broader educational context.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The aim of this research activity is to find out about the description of the customary syara', syara' based on Kitabullah, find out about the description of skills-based innovation, and find out the results of the value analysis of the customary syara', syara' based on Kitabullah for skills-based innovation at Al-Hidayah Methodology: The type of research used is quantitative research. This study uses data in the form of numbers as a tool to analyze the information to be known. The population used is teachers at the Al-Hidayah Foundation with a sample of 21 teachers. The instruments used are questionnaires and interviews, and the data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical testing. Main Findings: The results of the study obtained in the teacher response questionnaire showed that teachers who chose strongly agree had a percentage of 23.8%, in the agree category 66.6%, in the neutral category 9.5%, and 0% in the disagree and strongly disagree categories. The results of the study in the teacher perception questionnaire showed that the percentage was 14.2% in the strongly agree category, in the agree category 61.9%, then the neutral category 23.8%, then 0% in the disagree and strongly disagree categories. Novelty/Originality of this study: Customary values ​​based on Islamic law and the book of Allah can be applied in learning, such as in the curriculum and non-academic activities, namely cultural extracurricular activities such as dance and tradiitional music. The use of these customary values ​​is not only beneficial for students, but also for schools that implement them because they can advance the school environment.

Abstract

Currently, local wisdom is getting eroded. Local wisdom is a habit of the local community that has noble values so that efforts need to be made to preserve it, such as the local wisdom of the nek pung dance in Jambi province, Indonesia. This paper aimed to analyze the local wisdom of the nek pung dance and the educational curriculum to be linked and integrated into science learning. This study uses a qualitative approach by collecting natural information from several sources, namely traditional leaders, community leaders, education and culture offices, and elementary school teachers. In addition, researchers also analyzed educational curriculum documents, teacher books, and student books. The results analysis showed the that local wisdom of the nek pung dance can be integrated into grade 4 on theme I the beauty of togetherness, sub-theme I cultural diversity of my people, in learning 1 which includes science competency as one of the competencies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of students' digital literacy skills in the learning process. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research, with the aim of knowing how the digital literacy assessment instrument was developed. The population of this study were students at MAN 5 Batangahari, from which the population was sampled using a purposive sampling technique, namely class X students at MAN 5 Batanghari who majored in MIPA, totaling 35. The data collection instrument used was structured interview sheets. for teachers and students. Then data analysis in this study used Miles and Huberman's analysis which consisted of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result of this study is the need to develop a digital literacy assessment instrument that is in accordance with digital literacy indicators and learning objectives because there are not many assessment instruments available to measure digital literacy.
