Abstract

This research examines the migration of the Minangkabau to Tanah Gayo, Aceh. This research aims to describe the history of migration, the factors of migration, and the impact of the migration of the Minangkabau tribe to Tanah Gayo. The method used in this research is an ethnological research method with data sources through literature studies. This study shows that the history of migration of the Minangkabau tribe to Tanah Gayo started in 1915 (during the Dutch colonial period) and continued until post-independence. The Minangkabau tribe came in waves and generally as traders of spices and textiles. The factors that make the Minangkabau migrate to Tanah Gayo are due to economic factors by way of trading, and cultural factors also influence, namely because there is a matrilineal system. In addition, other factors are due to the philosophy of life that recommends migrating, and other factors are due to disputes in the area of origin and the spreading of the Muhammadiyah organization. The impact of the presence of the Minangkabau tribe on the Tanah Gayo community is the condition of Tanah Gayo being multicultural, the recognition of the Muhammadiyah organization, Minang traders who have created a market, and the occurrence of cultural acculturation due to the marriage between the Gayo tribe and the Minangkabau tribe.

Abstract

This study discusses the practice of wearing hijab among students of the Islamic Institute of Al-Aziziyah Bireuen. This research is an empirical legal study that employs an Islamic legal approach, specifically the maṣlaḥah theory and legal politics. Utilized data collection methods include literature reviews, interviews, and observations. The findings of this study indicate that there are divergent opinions among fiqh scholars concerning the issue of niqāb. Guarantees of protection and comfort in interacting with the general public encourage the use of niqāb. The practice of wearing niqāb by Al-Aziziyah students is carried out on an essential awareness and upholds the values of adherence to the recommendations of Shari'a and regulations set by the educational institution where they study. Al-Aziziyah Islamic institute students use the niqāb, without judging it as a compulsion, let alone rebelling against the requirements for wearing the niqāb. They even feel the benefits of using the niqāb as part of the identity of a Muslim woman. This study also concludes that, from a legal standpoint, the Aceh Qanun regarding Muslim attire and tawṣiyah from the Ulama Consultative Council is a government policy intended to protect and advance the community. It is especially to be better and more dignified, as the primary objective of Islamic law is to improve humanity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of narcotics criminal regulations in Indonesia and Malaysia. The main legal issue examined is the difference in legal systems in regulating narcotics crimes, particularly in terms of legal foundations, types of punishment, and approaches to offenders. The research employs a normative legal method with statutory, comparative, and conceptual approaches. The sources of legal materials include primary legal materials such as laws from both countries, secondary legal materials like journals and books, and tertiary legal materials to support the understanding of legal concepts. The results indicate that Indonesia adopts a more flexible approach by providing rehabilitation options for drug users, while Malaysia enforces stricter policies with the application of the reverse burden of proof principle and severe penalties, including the death penalty. Although Malaysia has a more repressive legal system, its effectiveness remains debatable due to the high rate of drug trafficking. Meanwhile, Indonesia faces challenges in implementing rehabilitation policies. This study recommends improving the effectiveness of the legal systems in both countries by optimizing law enforcement and considering a more balanced approach in addressing drug-related crimes.

Abstract

The success of higher education institutions is often measured by their competitiveness and the quality of their graduates in the job market. The concept of competitiveness, particularly in terms of educational relevance, is a fundamental consideration outlined in Law No. 12 related to higher education. One of the mechanisms for assessing this educational relevance involves conducting tracer studies among graduates. The objective of this research is to examine the individual (partial) and combined (simultaneous) effects of Grade Point Average (GPA) and Academic Supporting Credit for Students (AKPAM) on the alignment between graduates' fields of study and their subsequent employment. This study focuses on alumni from Darussalam Gontor University in the year 2019. The research is conducted through a survey-based approach, and the data collected through tracer study questionnaires. The findings indicate that while GPA exhibits an insignificant influence on the degree of alignment between fields of study and employment, AKPAM significantly affects this alignment. Moreover, when considered together, both GPA and AKPAM exert a significant influence on the alignment between graduates' fields of study and their employment choices
