Abstract

This study aims to investigate the phenomenon of law enforcement apparently disregarding justice in viral social media cases in Indonesia, exploring its causes, manifestations, and implications for the country's legal system and society. The research employed a qualitative methodology, combining in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, focus group discussions, social media content analysis, and a comprehensive literature review. The findings reveal a complex interplay of factors contributing to this phenomenon, including a significant disconnect between public expectations and law enforcement realities, the influence of political connections on case handling, and the emergence of digital vigilantism. The study also identified gaps in existing legal frameworks, a lack of digital literacy among both the public and law enforcement officials, and the psychological toll on officers facing public pressure. These results highlight the need for multifaceted reforms in law enforcement practices, legal structures, and public communication strategies to address the challenges posed by viral social media cases and maintain public trust in the justice system.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of social networks in facilitating access to justice in Indonesia, focusing on how individuals and communities use their social connections to understand, access, and navigate the legal system. Using a qualitative approach, this study combines fieldwork in three different locations in Indonesia (urban, rural, and remote areas) with a comprehensive literature review. Data collection methods include in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The results show that social networks play a crucial role in three main aspects: dissemination of legal information, mobilization of resources, and formation of legal problem-solving strategies. However, the effectiveness of social networks in facilitating access to justice varies depending on geographic and socio-cultural contexts. The study also reveals tensions between community-based conflict resolution mechanisms and the formal justice system, as well as the transformation of the role of social networks due to digitalization. These findings emphasize the need for a more holistic and contextual approach to improving access to justice in Indonesia, taking into account the complex dynamics of social networks.

Abstract

The Earth Charity Tradition is a form of local cultural tradition that continues to be preserved in the lives of agricultural communities in Indonesia, particularly in Sambikerep Village, Surabaya. However, in the context of globalization, many local traditions are facing significant challenges. This ethnographic study is crucial in delving deeper into the transformations that have occurred in the significance and value of Sedekah Bumi within Sambikerep Village, Surabaya. The primary objective of this research is to provide a comprehensive understanding of how local communities navigate the balance between tradition and modernity, while simultaneously preserving their cultural identity in the face of globalization. This research employs qualitative research methods, including participant observation, interviews, and documentation, to gather data. The qualitative data analysis involves data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The theoretical frameworks employed in this research are social construction theory and hybridity theory. The findings of this research demonstrate that the advent of globalization and its associated modernization values have transformed Sedekah Bumi from a purely spiritual event into an entertainment experience that incorporates social activities requiring participation and cooperation from all village residents. This transformation involves the integration of traditional elements with modern aspects, resulting in a vibrant cultural performance that does not compromise the original cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study aims to explore digital pragmatism in education through sociological and philosophical lenses, focusing on the reconstruction of learning paradigms in the digital era. Qualitative literature study methods are used to analyze epistemological, pedagogical, and structural transformations in the digital ecosystem. The study uses an interdisciplinary approach, exploring theories from digital sociology, the philosophy of pragmatism, social constructivism, and critical theory. The main findings show that digital platforms are not just a medium, but a complex social space that shapes and is shaped by knowledge practices. Digital pragmatism gives rise to a network epistemology model, transforms the role of educators, and opens up a multi-perspective negotiation space for meaning. The study recommends the development of a responsive pedagogical framework, critical digital literacy, and an interdisciplinary approach in understanding the dynamics of educational technology. The theoretical and practical implications of this study contribute to a comprehensive understanding of educational transformation in the digital era.
