Abstract

Employee performance is an important thing to get attention in every line of the organization. Performance is a benchmark for the success of an organization. As a public organization, it is also required to provide the best service by improving employee performance. This research was conducted in Mayang District, Jember Regency, targeting all local ASN. The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of sanctions and discipline on ASN performance. Using a quantitative research method based on the philosophy of positivism, from a population of 215 ASN, 123 representative samples were taken with the Slovin formula. Data analysis used descriptive analysis, validity tests and reliability tests of research data, and direct influence tests. The results of the study showed that partial sanctions did not have a positive and significant effect on ASN performance. Employee discipline has been shown to have a significant positive effect on performance.

Abstract

Coffee is an Indonesian plantation product that has high competitiveness in the international market. The demand for coffee is influenced by people's perceptions of coffee in Indonesia. People easily provide opinions and opinions through social media. The most popular social media application in all circles is Twitter. The types of coffee that are trending topics on Twitter today are civet coffee, black coffee, sick coffee and bitter coffee. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the positive and negative public sentiments towards coffee in Indonesia. In this research, sentiment analysis using Naïve Bayes Multinomial has been applied to determine the perception of good or bad in society. The results showed good accuracy such as accuracy, precision, recall of 94%, 99%, 88%. The results of this study prove that the proposed model can be used to analyze sentiments on Twitter texts very well.

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the fact that writing is the most difficult skill for students to master. Students face difficulties in learning writing. They are not sure of how to compose a setence, arrange sentences into good paragraphs, how to develope their ideas, they have lack of vocabulary and tend to use only certain words they have known in writing. They also apply incorrect grammar in their writing. Teacher considers that teaching writing is a difficult task. This action research is about teaching writing descriptive text by using control to free method to the seven graders students of SMP Islam Khadijah Bagek Nyaka in the academic year of 2022-2023. The aim of this study is to find out how control to free method can be implemented to improve students‟ skill in writing descriptive text. In order to achieve the objectives, an action research was designed and carried out in this study. The participants of this study were 28 students of class VII C of SMP Islam Khadijah Bagek Nyaka in the academic year of 2022-2023. Questionnaire, observation sheet, and writing tests were used as the instruments for collecting data. The results of the study showed significant improvement of the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. It is proven by the average results in every test; pre test (47,89), the first cycle test (58,92), and post test (71.30). The students’ writing skill (organization, content, grammar, punctuation, and style and quality of expression) in each test increased, too. Moreover, the result of the observation sheet showed that control to free method changed the students’ learning behavior being better than before. Their enthusiasm during the learning process increased in each cycle. The analysis result of questionnaire showed that control to free technique was useful to most of students to improve their learning interest in writing descriptive text. Their perception changed positively after having the treatment. It meant that the use of control to free technique could ease their problem in writing English especially descriptive text. Based on the results of those research instruments, it can be concluded that using control to free method as a learning method gives significant improvement to students’ skill in writing descriptive text.

Abstract

Every government agency is interested in the best performance that can be produced by the series of systems that apply in the organization. Human resource management is one of the key factors to get the best performance. This study aims to determine the effect of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and competence on employee performance. This study is a type of comparative causal research. The data used in this study are primary data. The population in this study were employees at the Jember Regency Health Office who have the status of State Civil Apparatus (ASN and PPPK) including employees of the Health Center and UPTD as many as 1,531 people. The sample was determined by the slovin formula as many as 100 respondents. Descriptive analysis, validity test and reliability test as well as direct influence test were carried out to support the research conducted. The results of the study stated that organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and competence have a positive and significant effect on employee performance at the Jember Regency Health Office.

Abstract

The development of the hospital industry in Jember Regency in 2024 experienced a significant increase. There are 14 types of hospitals with various types of hospitals. This causes competition in getting patients to also increase. The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of organizational culture on employee performance with job satisfaction as an intervening variable at XYZ Hospital in Jember. The study population was all employees of XYZ Hospital totaling 420 employees. With the Isaac method and using a significance level of 1% of the population of 420, the sample required was 257 respondents (rounded to 260 respondents). Descriptive and inductive statistical analysis was carried out in obtaining research objectives. Organizational culture has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, but not significant on employee performance. Job satisfaction has a positive and significant impact on employee performance. Organizational culture has a positive and significant effect on employee performance through job satisfaction of employees at XYZ Hospital in Jember Regency.

Abstract

Purchasing decision is an important stage in consumer behavior that has broad implications, both locally and globally. Thus, it is important to discuss the issue of purchasing decisions made by consumers. This paper aims to determine the effect of word of mouth on purchasing decisions with brand image as a moderation at PT XYZ. The population in this study were all consumers of PT XYZ, a company engaged in the production of snacks in Malang Regency. The number of samples was determined as many as 100 respondents. Validity tests and reliability tests were carried out in this study so that the measuring instrument used truly met the rules of a measuring instrument. Hypothesis testing was also carried out in this study so that the impact of the independent variables on the dependent variables could be clearly identified. The results of the study showed that word of mouth had a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. Brand image had a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. Word of mouth had a positive and significant effect on brand image. Word of mouth had a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions through brand image.

Abstract

The implementation of the job transfer has made the work environment less conducive when the regulation is applied. Government organizations must be prepared in terms of institutions, policies, and new work procedures, especially in local governments, to improve performance in response to new regulations. This study aims to determine the influence of organizational culture, work environment, and job promotion on employee performance with work motivation as a mediator. This research is designed in the form of quantitative research with a causal research type. The population in this study is all Civil Servants in Banyuwangi Regency with a sample of 142 employees. The sampling technique uses non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling technique. The data in this study were obtained through a survey method using a questionnaire media. Data analysis techniques use partial least squares. The study found that organizational culture, work environment, and job promotion all have a positive and significant impact on employee performance. Additionally, organizational culture, work environment, and job promotion also positively influence work motivation. Furthermore, work motivation itself has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. It was also observed that work motivation serves as a mediator in the relationship between organizational culture and employee performance, as well as between the work environment and employee performance, and between job promotion and employee performance. This can be achieved by awarding employees who perform well, adhering to established working hours, creating a comfortable work environment where employees can enjoy their work, and providing adequate supporting facilities and resources.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the implementation or use of social media on the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The influence of social media on increasing the marketing of Mie Ujang SMEs, and the influence of social media on increasing the productivity of Mie Ujang SMEs. This study used a direct interview method with the owner of the Ujang Noodle production located in Gebang Village, Patrang District, Jember Regency, East Java Province. Interviews were conducted in a structured manner, in-depth interviews and observations at the Mie Ujang company related to business start-up, promotion and production before social media was used, and increasing production of Ujang noodles when using social media as a promotional medium. The subjects in this research were owners and managers, employees of MSMEs who were selected using purpose sampling. This study concludes that the MSMEs observed have used social media in their companies. The most widely used social media are Facebook, Whatsapp Groups and Instagram.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of competency, training, commitment on employee performance at the Jember Regency Regional Secretariat. The population in this study were all employees at the Regional Secretariat of Jember Regency, totaling 60 employees and all of them were used as research samples. Descriptive data analysis was used to determine the description of respondents. Validity tests and reliability tests were carried out to test whether the research questionnaire met the requirements for conducting research. Hypothesis testing is carried out to test the influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable. The results of the analysis show that competence, training, commitment to employee performance at the Regional Secretariat of Jember Regency.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises or MSMEs are one of the important pillars of economic growth that have the potential to drive economic activity. Changes in people's lifestyles, which are increasingly changing by enjoying their free time in cafes, have caused the development of cafes to increase, marked by the number of new cafes with various services provided. Cafes currently face intense competition, and every company must maintain customer loyalty. This research aims to determine the influence of service quality, price and facility variables on customer loyalty at Cafe Kattapa in Jember. This research is quantitative research with a research population of Cafe Kattapa Jember customers. The sample used in this research was 100 people. The data collection method used in this research is by distributing questionnaires online. The data processing application used is IBM SPSS v.25. The results of this research state that service quality (X1), price (X2) and facilities (X3) have a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty (Y) at Cafe Kattapa Jember. The implication of this research is that customer loyalty can be built and increased by improving service quality, setting affordable prices and providing adequate facilities for businesses in the café sector.
