Abstract

The purpose of this Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is to identify the cybergogy trends in cognitive psychology in physics learning from 2019-2023. The focus of this review includes research methods, technology used, links to cognitive psychology, and physics concepts. A total of 60 articles (60 articles indexed Scopus and 29 of them indexed Scopus and WoS) were used in this review using the Prisma guide. The analysis was carried out with the help of NVivo12 as well as percentage calculations. The results show that: 1) The research method used is dominated by quasi-experiments (22%); 2) The technology used in learning is dominated by virtual reality/lab (35%); 3) Most of the links with cognitive psychology are devoted to conception (33%), and; 4) Physics concepts that are widely used in research are dominated by concepts related to electricity and magnetism (27%). The results of this review indicate that research on cybergogy directly in physics learning is still minimal. However, if it is generalized to research on technology in physics learning over the last five years, it can be seen that the trend is quite good. Thus, the results of this review recommend further research in developing technologies that are popular in physics learning cybergogy, such as the development of virtual reality/lab or Augmented Reality.

Abstract

The research goal was to develop innovative learning media on refutation texts (ReT), scilicet integrating Computer Simulations on Refutation Texts (CoSiReT). CoSiReT's role is to reduce students' misconceptions concerning the basic concept of transverse waves. This research design used 4D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Participants include 64 students aged 16-18 years in the Tuban region, East Java, Indonesia (37 male were called Mas, and 27 female were called Mbak). The research instrument used a media validation sheet (15 assessment indicators). The pre-post test instrument used the Multi-representation of a Four-tier Instrument on Transverse Wave (MOFI-OTW). Analysis of data validation results was using a rater test assisted by Rasch's Mini-Facets software. According to the seven validators, the results of CoSiReT fulfill aspects of instructions for use, language, content presentation, and appearance. The percentage of students' misconception reduction was analyzed using the Reduction Misconceptions (RM) adapted from Hake's n-gain equation. Overall, the reduction of misconceptions is in the high category. Thus, it can be concluded that CoSiReT can be developed and used a role in reducing student misconceptions. Researchers or practitioners are expected to implement CoSiReT as a learning innovation that aims to reduce basic misconceptions of transverse waves.

Abstract

Integrating local science into science learning benefits students and the culture. However, science teaching tends to focus only on the scientific content presented in the books but ignores the local culture. This paper explores local science in community cultural activities to be implemented in science learning to introduce students to cultural values following the concept of science. It identifies local science, describes the oral arguments produced by the tribal council, and analyzes the lesson plan by five science teachers in the Nagekeo district, East Nusa Tenggara. The data used in this analysis are observation and identification, interviews, and assessment sheets. The findings show that the local science in Nagekeo cultural activities that can be integrated into science learning includes the traditional unit and measurement systems, Newton's laws in their application to the traditional game, biodiversity in the traditional hunt, the concept of heat transfer, and its application in the construction of traditional houses, and vibrations, waves, and sounds in the traditional musical instrument. Recommendations from this research are embracing local science in science learning to provide meaningful learning for students and preserve local culture for each generation in the future so that it does not become extinct.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the important elements that must be possessed by students. In learning, critical thinking skills have been applied in learning environments to address student challenges in the 21st century. This study aims to explore students' critical thinking skills during the learning process using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the probing prompting technique. The method used in this study was a literature review, by analyzing and synthesizing several Physics education journals published in 2017-2022 which discussed critical thinking skills, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) models, and probing prompting techniques with the research sample being students at elaboration of junior, high school, and college students who have different levels of understanding. Based on the results of the 40 journals in this study, it was found that the PBL model assisted by the probing prompting technique is an innovative learning model that can be applied in active learning to improve critical thinking skills, which is one of the dimensions in the Pancasila student profile. This is because this model displays various problems that occur in everyday life, through a series of questions as a guide so that it can stimulate students to seek and find solutions to a problem. The results of this study can be used as recommendations for teachers in classroom learning activities to improve students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research aimed to implement the Conceptual Change Model - Computational Thinking (CCM-CT) in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding of Pascal’s Law. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control-group design. The population for this research comprised all second-semester grade XI MIPA students in a public high school in Bandung City. The sampling method used was purposive sampling, specifically selecting students who had not previously studied Pascal's Law material. The sample included two classes: the experimental class, which received treatment through CCM-CT learning, and the control class, which underwent treatment using CCM learning. The experimental class consisted of 8 male students and 28 female students, while the control class consisted of 9 male students and 27 female students aged 15-17 years. The data collection technique for students’ conceptual understanding used a Four-tier test instrument on Pascal’s Law. The data analysis technique used the N-Gain test to assess the enhancement of students' conceptual understanding through activities to alter their conceptions during the learning process. The results revealed a distinction in conceptual understanding between students who utilized CCM-CT learning and those who employed CCM learning. The N-Gain pre-test and post-test values in the experimental class, which implemented CCM-CT learning, were 0.71, interpreted as "high," while in the control class applying CCM learning, the values were 0.62, interpreted as "enough." As a result, implementing CCM-CT proved to be an alternative teachers could utilize to enhance students' conceptual understanding. This was supported by the research findings, which demonstrated a higher level of concept understanding among students who underwent CCM-CT learning compared to those who underwent CCM learning.

Abstract

This paper aimed to assess the validity of the Sound Wave Four Tier (SOFT) Diagnostic Test that can be used to identify students' conception profiles. Using the Four Design (The participants were 42 students aged 15-17 years old in one of the public high schools in Bandung City. The participants were 42 students aged 15-17 in one of the public high schools in Bandung City. The data's validity, the instrument's reliability, and the distribution of students' conceptions were analyzed using the Rasch model with the MINISTEP 4.5.3.0 program. The dimensional-based validity of the items used was valid. Accuracy based on Cronbach Alpha (α) was in the high category, the item reliability score was in the good category, and the reliability of personnel was in the low category. The conception profile of the students categorized as. Sound Understanding (SU), Partial Positive (PP), Partial Neutral (PNt), Partial Negative (PNg), Misconception (MC), No Understanding (NU), and No Coding (NC). The highest category of conception found was MC. There were a lot of misconceptions found in the sound wave material. Students' Misconceptions are still commonly found in sound waves. A 4D model can be developed using Rasch modeling analysis to identify students' profiles. Utilizing the SOFT instrument enables students to gain a broader understanding of the concept, including verbal statements and various representations of images and mathematical symbols.
