Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the important elements that must be possessed by students. In learning, critical thinking skills have been applied in learning environments to address student challenges in the 21st century. This study aims to explore students' critical thinking skills during the learning process using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the probing prompting technique. The method used in this study was a literature review, by analyzing and synthesizing several Physics education journals published in 2017-2022 which discussed critical thinking skills, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) models, and probing prompting techniques with the research sample being students at elaboration of junior, high school, and college students who have different levels of understanding. Based on the results of the 40 journals in this study, it was found that the PBL model assisted by the probing prompting technique is an innovative learning model that can be applied in active learning to improve critical thinking skills, which is one of the dimensions in the Pancasila student profile. This is because this model displays various problems that occur in everyday life, through a series of questions as a guide so that it can stimulate students to seek and find solutions to a problem. The results of this study can be used as recommendations for teachers in classroom learning activities to improve students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to provide a concise overview of research on education for sustainable development, focusing on scientific production, prominent researchers, nations involved, and research topics. An analysis of the scholarly output on the topic of education for sustainability development was conducted using bibliometric methods, focusing on publications published from 2013 to 2023. A total of 19,801 articles were retrieved from Scopus databases. Collecting data was finished, and the data was stored in two specific file formats, namely *.ris and *.csv. The *.ris format serves as the data mapping format in the R Studio and VOSviewer applications, while the *.csv format is utilized for data analysis in Ms. Excel. These papers were published in various publications related to sustainability, social sciences, engineering, and scientific education. The primary findings indicate that the quantity of articles about education for sustainability development is reasonably consistent from 2013 to 2023. Co-authorship relationships primarily involve researchers from the same nation. Furthermore, a change in the research priorities was noted. Prior research has been extensively conducted in various fields, including sustainability, social sciences, engineering, science education, and others. A recent study has highlighted the significance of curriculum and curriculum development. The research implication is bibliometric analysis, which can help identify research trends related to education for sustainability (ESD). This may include the latest research, topic focus, and recent developments in the field.Profitable Consideration of Education for Sustainability Development (ESD) above a Time: Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

This research aimed to implement the Conceptual Change Model - Computational Thinking (CCM-CT) in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding of Pascal’s Law. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control-group design. The population for this research comprised all second-semester grade XI MIPA students in a public high school in Bandung City. The sampling method used was purposive sampling, specifically selecting students who had not previously studied Pascal's Law material. The sample included two classes: the experimental class, which received treatment through CCM-CT learning, and the control class, which underwent treatment using CCM learning. The experimental class consisted of 8 male students and 28 female students, while the control class consisted of 9 male students and 27 female students aged 15-17 years. The data collection technique for students’ conceptual understanding used a Four-tier test instrument on Pascal’s Law. The data analysis technique used the N-Gain test to assess the enhancement of students' conceptual understanding through activities to alter their conceptions during the learning process. The results revealed a distinction in conceptual understanding between students who utilized CCM-CT learning and those who employed CCM learning. The N-Gain pre-test and post-test values in the experimental class, which implemented CCM-CT learning, were 0.71, interpreted as "high," while in the control class applying CCM learning, the values were 0.62, interpreted as "enough." As a result, implementing CCM-CT proved to be an alternative teachers could utilize to enhance students' conceptual understanding. This was supported by the research findings, which demonstrated a higher level of concept understanding among students who underwent CCM-CT learning compared to those who underwent CCM learning.

Abstract

This research aims to identify a decrease in students' misconceptions about dynamic fluid material after learning is implemented Three Stay Two Stray (TSTS) with the help of ARaRaT in experimental and learning classes and TSTS in the control class. This research uses mixed methods with a research design embedded in an experimental design. The research sample involved 65 students (22 male and 43 female) in class XI MIPA at one of the public high schools in Cimahi City. The technique for collecting data on students' misconceptions used the test instrument Four-Tier Fluid Dynamic Concept (FT-FDC), which consists of 10 questions that are analyzed using the reducing quantity misconceptions equation to see the decrease in the number of students' misconceptions after being given treatment. The results of the data analysis in the experimental class showed a change in the percentage of students experiencing misconceptions from 38.8% to 10%, with an average decrease of 28.8%. Meanwhile, the percentage change in the number of students' misconceptions in the control class was obtained from 36.1% to 23.9%, with an average percentage decrease of 12.2%. This research implies that students become more skilful in conducting experiments with the help of ARaRaT and better understand concepts that are not only in the form of verbal statements but with various forms of representation of images, graphs, tables, mathematical equations, and even 3D media with the help of Augmented Reality. Thus, implementing TSTS learning assisted by ARaRaT can be an alternative to physics learning to reduce students' misconceptions.

Abstract

This paper aimed to assess the validity of the Sound Wave Four Tier (SOFT) Diagnostic Test that can be used to identify students' conception profiles. Using the Four Design (The participants were 42 students aged 15-17 years old in one of the public high schools in Bandung City. The participants were 42 students aged 15-17 in one of the public high schools in Bandung City. The data's validity, the instrument's reliability, and the distribution of students' conceptions were analyzed using the Rasch model with the MINISTEP 4.5.3.0 program. The dimensional-based validity of the items used was valid. Accuracy based on Cronbach Alpha (α) was in the high category, the item reliability score was in the good category, and the reliability of personnel was in the low category. The conception profile of the students categorized as. Sound Understanding (SU), Partial Positive (PP), Partial Neutral (PNt), Partial Negative (PNg), Misconception (MC), No Understanding (NU), and No Coding (NC). The highest category of conception found was MC. There were a lot of misconceptions found in the sound wave material. Students' Misconceptions are still commonly found in sound waves. A 4D model can be developed using Rasch modeling analysis to identify students' profiles. Utilizing the SOFT instrument enables students to gain a broader understanding of the concept, including verbal statements and various representations of images and mathematical symbols.

Abstract

The development of local wisdom from various sectors continues to increase yearly, especially in Indonesia. This study aims to find trends, topics, and contributions of local wisdom to the education sector. This research used quantitative research with bibliometrics and assisted with VoSViewer, Word Cloud, MS Excel, and MS Word software to analyze and visualize metadata results obtained from Scopus. The results of this study reveal trends in the development of local wisdom, with the top 100 cited from 2012 to 2021. Then, the topic of local wisdom is dominated by researchers from Indonesia. In addition, the contribution of local wisdom in education continues to grow along with the times, especially in physics education. Furthermore, it is hoped that there will be further research on local wisdom that can be used as a reference source for all things and preserve local wisdom and communities that still need to be held due to changing times. On the other hand, local wisdom can also be known with the slogan “Glocalization”.
