Abstract

Nyabis is one of the pesantren (Islamic boarding school) traditions in Madura which depicts the essence of the relationship between students and teachers. Unfortunately, there are no previous articles that discuss the meaning and concept of nyabis comprehensively. This article aims to synthesize previous literature on nyabis with interpretive methods and critical examination to construct an integrate concept of nyabis in Madura through meta-ethnographic methods. The meta-ethnographic method with seven stages of meta-synthesis produces the concept of nyabis which consists of the definition, purpose, and context of nyabis; the values and figures in; the scope and the orientation of nyabis. Nyabis is a tradition of visiting Kiai (ulama) in Islamic boarding schools carried out by students and the community to fulfill short-term goals, namely problem solving and decision making; and the long-term goal, namely gaining religious knowledge as a foundation for a blessed life in this world and the hereafter. Kiai have various roles including educators, mentors and spiritual teachers to meet the needs of people's lives in the scope or personal, social, educational, economic and spiritual aspects.   Nyabis merupakan salah satu tradisi pesantren di Madura yang menggambarkan tentang kelestarian esensi hubungan antara murid dan guru. Sayangnya, belum ada artikel terdahulu yang membahas makna dan konsepnya secara utuh. Artikel ini bertujuan mensintesis literatur terdahulu tentang nyabis dengan metode interpretatif dan pemeriksaan kritis untuk mengonstruk konsep utuh nyabis di Madura melalui metode meta-etnografi. Metode meta-etnografi dengan tujuh tahapan meta-sintesis menghasilkan konsep utuh tentang nyabis. Nyabis adalah tradisi silaturahmi kepada Kiai (ulama) di pondok pesantren yang dilakukan oleh santri maupun masyarakat untuk memenuhi tujuan jangka pendek, yaitu pemecahan masalah dan pengambilan keputusan; dan tujuan jangka panjang, yaitu memperoleh ilmu agama sebagai landasan bagi kehidupan yang berkah di dunia dan akhirat. Kiai memiliki peran beragam meliputi pendidik, pembimbing, dan guru spiritual untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup masyarakat dalam ruang lingkup atau aspek personal, sosial, pendidikan, ekonomi, dan spiritual.

Abstract

This study examines effective music learning strategies for children in the non-formal educational environment of Golden Music, Palangka Raya. The problem in this study is the diverse learning characteristics of children, including children who learn because of parental encouragement, children who have intrinsic motivation, and children with special needs who require an adaptive teaching approach. The purpose of this study is to identify appropriate teaching strategies and methods to support children's musical development, particularly in piano learning. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative method, with observation and interviews with teachers and students as the main data collection techniques. The researcher observed three students with different learning characteristics to understand how learning strategies are applied in practice. The results show that differences in children's motivation, readiness to learn, and concentration significantly affect the effectiveness of the learning process. Overall, these findings highlight that effective music learning in a non-formal environment requires flexible and individually tailored strategies that are adapted to each child's character and needs.

Abstract

Although research on self-compassion has increased, there is still a lack of empirically validated self-compassion instruments that demonstrate measurement fairness across gender and cultural backgrounds in specific institutional contexts. This study aimed to develop a Self-Compassion Inventory (SCI) and examine its psychometric properties using a sample of university students from IKIP Siliwangi, Bandung. A total of 514 undergraduate students participated in the study through an online survey administered via Google Forms, consisting of 145 male students (28.2%) and 369 female students (71.8%), representing diverse cultural backgrounds, including Bali, Cirebon, Betawi, Jawa, Batak, Minangkabau, and Sunda ethnicities. The SCI was constructed based on three core dimensions of self-compassion: Self-Kindness versus Self-Judgment, Common Humanity versus Isolation, and Mindfulness versus Over-Identification. Data were analyzed using the Rasch measurement model to evaluate item fit, dimensionality, reliability, and differential item functioning (DIF) across gender and cultural groups. The findings indicate that the SCI functions as a valid, reliable, and fair instrument for assessing self-compassion among university students. Most items exhibited good model fit, and the instrument showed stable item calibration. DIF analysis revealed no significant cultural bias, while limited gender-based DIF was identified and addressed during item refinement.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the distribution of university students’ levels of self-compassion based on its psychological aspects. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving 144 students from guidance and counseling study program at a higher education institution. The entire population was included as reasearch participants without applying any sampling technique. Data were collected using a self compassion scale developed in the form of a likert model, which encompasses six core dimensions: self-kindness, self-judgment, common humanity, isolation, mindfulness and over=identification. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive percentage techniques to classify self-compassion levels into three categories, namely low, moderate, and high. The results indicated that, everall, most students were classified in the moderate level of self-compassion (48%), followed by those in the low category (0%) and the high category (52%). Further analysis of each dimension showed that the majority of students also fell into the moderate category, with percentage distributions exceeding 40% across all aspects. These findings suggest that studentsself commpassion has not yet developed optimally and tends to remain at a moderate level. This condition indicates the need for systematic developmental efforts oriented toward strengthening students’ psychological aspects, particularly in fostering adative self-attitudes, emotional awarness, and balanced self-evaluation. The results of this study can serve as an empirical basis for designing guidance and counseling programs aimed at enhancing self-compassion among university students.

Abstract

Purpose: Curriculum development in Indonesia has become a polemic with the existence of the Kurikulum Merdeka, which discusses learning outcomes that should be one of the answers to overcome learning objectives that have not been achieved in the previous curriculum. This article seeks to provide an overview of learning outcomes, especially in music subjects in the Kurikulum Merdeka, as a form of independent learning in schools, which is expected to be an understanding that educators can internalize about the importance of learning outcomes in music subjects. Method: The literature study is used in this research by collecting data through online media, articles, and books related to music learning outcomes in the Merdeka Curriculum in schools. Result and Discussion: This research describes the learning outcomes of music as a form of independent learning. The discussion reviewed includes learning outcomes, objectives, and characteristics of music learning in the Merdeka Curriculum. Music teaching in the Merdeka Curriculum is divided into phases A to F, and there are five elements included in music learning, including experiencing, reflecting, thinking and working artistically, creating, and impacting students and others. Music art subjects aim for students to be able to express, be sensitive, develop a sense of musicality, and be aware of their musicality.

Methods: The method employed is a literature study that examines various recent academic references relevant to evaluation in music education, particularly in non-formal settings. Results and Discussion: The findings reveal that non-formal music institutions continue to face challenges in implementing appropriate evaluation systems due to a lack of adaptation from formal evaluation frameworks. The discussion highlights the importance of contextual and sustainable evaluation approaches, and emphasizes successful evaluation practices applied in non-formal educational contexts. Conclusion: In conclusion, this article provides both theoretical and practical contributions by offering a guide to developing relevant, applicable, and contextual evaluation systems for non-formal music educators, in order to enhance the quality of music learning and support the development of both students and educators more effectively.

Abstract

Transitions across educational levels and the shift into the world of work often become highly demanding phases for students, as they require rapid adjustments in learning strategies, academic identity, and social relationships. When these transitions are not adequately supported, students may experience what this article conceptualizes as a crisis of developmental continuity. The purpose of this article is to critically describe this crisis and to examine the psychological, social, and institutional factors that shape the continuity of student development within educational practice. This study employs a systematic literature review by synthesizing peer-reviewed journal articles retrieved from Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar. The selection process applied keywords related to developmental sustainability, educational transitions, and psychological variables (self-awareness, self-efficacy, and self-regulation), followed by PRISMA screening procedures, resulting in 31 articles that were analyzed thematically. The review reveals that crises of developmental continuity commonly arise when students’ self-awareness, self-efficacy, and self-regulation weaken during periods of transition, while support from teachers, peers, families, and educational institutions remains insufficient. Programs that strengthen self-regulation, build supportive relational climates, and offer tiered interventions such as PBIS, self-regulated learning training, and peer mentoring are shown to help maintain developmental continuity. The article concludes that sustaining student development should be regarded as an essential indicator of educational quality and requires deliberate collaboration among educators, counsellors, families, and policymakers to design transitional supports that are humane, adaptive, and sustainable.

Abstract

This study examines religious Moderation among the State Islamic University Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan students, characterized by ethnic and religious diversity. A mixed-method approach was used, including a quantitative survey with the Rasch Model and qualitative interviews. The study population consists of 433 students from the 2021 and 2022 cohorts across four faculties: Tarbiyah and Teaching Sciences (55.4%), Da'wah and Communication Sciences (22.4%), Islamic Economics and Business (16.2%), and Sharia and Law Sciences (6.0%). Findings reveal that most students fall into the very moderate (58.85%) and moderate (40.36%) categories, with a significant gender difference, where females are generally more moderate than males. The categories of religious Moderation are divided into very moderate, moderate, and less moderate based on value intervals and ideal scores, indicating that religious Moderation among students is generally balanced and tolerant. The analysis provides a comprehensive view of moderation tendencies, underscoring the importance of religious Moderation in fostering a peaceful and harmonious society

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries prone to natural disasters. It is a country with a significant responsibility for educating and preparing students for success in the educational process. This study aims to provide insight to Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers about the importance of understanding student conditions, provide BK teachers with basic concepts of PTSD and its treatment, and socialize and provide training on trauma healing. Methods. The training was conducted in junior high schools in Kuningan District. The outcomes of the meetings included: (1) conducting the community engagement activities online (July 26-27, 2023 via Zoom) and in-person (August 2, 2023); (2) the topics to be covered included the basic concept of traumatic stress disorder, counseling techniques for dealing with PTSD, post-trauma counseling programs, scientific article writing workshops, cognitive-behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, brief psychodynamic psychotherapy, exposure therapy, writing service implementation plans, and implementing group exercise-based post-traumatic counseling strategies. Results. The results indicated that 73% of participants found it easy to apply, while 26% found it somewhat difficult. Regarding individual counseling concepts, 93% found it easier to understand, while 7% found it quite challenging. Abstrak Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang rentan terhadap bencana alam. Negara ini memiliki tanggung jawab besar dalam mendidik dan mempersiapkan siswa untuk sukses dalam proses pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan kepada guru Bimbingan dan Konseling (BK) tentang pentingnya memahami kondisi siswa, memberikan guru BK dengan konsep dasar PTSD dan pengobatannya, serta mensosialisasikan dan memberikan pelatihan tentang penyembuhan trauma. Pelatihan ini dilakukan di sekolah menengah pertama di Kabupaten Kuningan. Hasil pertemuan mencakup: (1) melaksanakan kegiatan keterlibatan masyarakat secara online (26-27 Juli 2023 via Zoom) dan tatap muka (2 Agustus 2023); (2) topik yang akan dibahas meliputi konsep dasar gangguan stres trauma, teknik konseling untuk mengatasi PTSD, program konseling pasca trauma, lokakarya penulisan artikel ilmiah, cognitive-behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, brief psychodynamic psychotherapy, exposure therapy, penyusunan rencana pelayanan penulisan, dan implementasi strategi konseling pasca trauma berbasis latihan kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 73% peserta merasa mudah untuk mengaplikasikannya, sementara 26% merasa agak sulit. Abstract

School climate plays a vital role in supporting students’ academic success and well-being, making it essential to explore how demographic factors influence their perceptions of the school climate. This study aimed to examine students’ perceptions of school climate based on demographic variables such as gender, age, grade level, and school type. Data were collected through convenience sampling from 482 junior high school students in Indonesia aged 11-17 years. The Indonesian version of the What’s Happening in This School? (WHITS) An instrument, which measures six dimensions of school climate, was employed. Reliability analysis indicated excellent internal consistency (α = 0.95). The results revealed no significant differences in school climate perceptions based on gender, age, or grade level. However, significant differences were found by school type, with students in private schools reporting a more positive school climate than those in public schools.
