Abstract

This study describes on development of habitat suitability for Sumatran tiger in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP). In this study remotely-sensed data set were linked with tiger and it prey survey using camera trap to identify the environmental and human factors that influences the tigers potential habitat, and to develop a spatial model as well as in BBSNP. All at once, the study showed that the potential model for estimating the tigers potential habitat suitability could be developed using environmental and human factors. The most significant factors that influence the tiger habitat suitability in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park are human factors such as distance to road and distance to forest edge and the environmental factor i.e. the number of tiger prey. The verification of the model shows that the model is capable to estimate the probability of the tiger presence having accuracy of approximately 78%. The model shows that there is no significant difference between the predicted data and actual data and having mean deviation less than 10%.

Abstract

Mangrove forests sequestrate and store a lot of carbon and are important to tackle climate change. However, much of these forests have been cleared dramatically and such clearings destroyed carbon sinks and released carbon into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide. The international climate agreements highlight Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) as a key and effective option for mitigating climate change. To help making REDD+ a reality, an alternative approach is needed to measure above ground carbon stock quickly and accurately. Here, we link ground-based data collected from field measurement using belt transect method with satellite image data of the ALOS AVNIR-2. The objectives are to identify the characteristics of mangrove vegetation, to estimate the amount of above ground carbon stock, and to examine capability of vegetation indices of NDVI, SR, dan SAVI from the ALOS AVNIR-2 to estimate the amount of above ground carbon stock in mangrove. Results showed that the mangrove vegetation in Gugus Pulau Pari was relatively diverse and this forest contained above ground carbon between 4694.35 and 42841.25 kg/m2. The statistics analyses showed that there was no significant correlation between the vegetation indices of NDVI, SR, and SAVI with the amount of above ground carbon stock in tropical mangrove forest. In short, the vegetation indices of NDVI, SR, and SAVI from the ALOS AVNIR-2 were not sufficient to estimate the amount of above ground carbon stock in tropical mangrove forest.

Abstract

The teacher certification is an official program to improve teacher’s quality as well as his/her social status. There are two ways of certification of teacher in working, namely by portfolio assessment and by professional education assessment. But the certification actually runs on seniority, not professionally. It results that many certified teachers will be soon retired. The fact shows that the certified teachers are not always professional ones and in turn does not always improve the educational quality. Therefore the certification should be professionally practiced so the certified teachers verily improve the educational quality. Key words: sertifikasi guru, sertifikasi profesional, mutu pendidikan.

Abstract

The destruction of lowland tropical forests represents one of the greatest threats to biodiversity in Sumatras third-largest protected area, the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP). Here, we integrate time-series satellite and socio-economic information in a Geographic Information System (GIS) to unravel the root causes of deforestation in two encroachments(Cawangaro and Sumbersari) near Pemerihan River bordering BBSNP.Cawangaro was originally developed as an enclave in 1965.Sumbersari remained forested until 1978.Both encroachments experienced higher deforestation rates during the late 1970s and in 2005. Our GIS combined with historical records show that large-scale logging, high coffee price and village development plans (perluasan lahan usahatani penduduk) drove deforestation during late 1970s. Throughout the 1980s and until 1997/1998, deforestation rates have been negligible as strong law enforcement measures were adopted by the Government to protect biodiversity during the implementation of Indonesias first land-use plan (TGHK). Since the 1997-1998 Asian economic crisis, deforestation rates have increased again. Results from socio-economic surveys showed that illegal logging has become one major factor driving agricultural encroachments in Pemerihan since 1998. Local tycoons have exploited the parks timber since Suhartos fall, probably due to the decline of law and order. While timber extraction itself has caused very limited damage to the forest, this illegal activity sparked a land race among farmers inside the park.

Abstract

The destruction of mangrove forest constitutes one of the greatest threats to biodiversity and conservation of Ambon Bay.But,data and information of condition and potential of mangrove in Ambon Bay are lacking. We link three methods: remote sensing,Biological survey using transect, and sedimentation sampling to study the condition and potential of mangrove in Ambon Bay specially for biodiversity and sediment trapped. Remote sensing data showed that area of mangrove forest in Ambon Bay 34 ha and has declined dramatically in the past decade. The research recorded 8 species of mangrove; two are recorded as new species compared to the last survey.Based on data collected from four transects, mangrove forest in Ambon Bay is habitat for 8 species of mollusc and species of fish, crustacean, bird and epiphytes. Sediment analysis showed that mangrove forest 80% more effective to reduce sediment that come in to Ambon bay. Finally, the result indicated that condition of mangrove forest in Ambon Bay has been declined, nevertheless, have great potential for conservation of biodiversity and efficient in trapping sediment that come in to Ambon Bay.

Abstract

This study traces the genealogy of Islamic education at the Faculty of Ilmu Tarbiyah dan Keguruan (FITK) Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University Yogyakarta. The genealogycal approach used in Foucault’s terminology  means that the objectivity of science covers two aspects, namely the archeology of knowledge and power. Data is comprised of ideas and opinions that develop among lecturers at FITK. Data is analyized interpretatively, descriptively, and comparatively. Findings show that in the early period of its formation (1951), Islamic education science at FITK was influenced by religious teachings brought from the Middle East. But since the secularization of Islamic education in Turkey led by Fethullah Gülen (1990), the mecca of Islamic education has split into two poles; on the one side, it follows dogmatic religious teachings stemming from Middle East traditions, and on the other side, it needs to respond to the Western secular tradition. Since 2007 the dynamics of FITK has moved toward a dialectics of integrative Islamic education.[Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melacak akar genealogi integrasi keilmuan pendidikan Islam di Fakultas Ilmu Tarbiyah dan Keguruan (FITK) Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga. Dalam perkembangan mutakhir, tepatnya sejak 2007 dinamika keilmuan FITK bergerak menuju dialektika keilmuan pendidikan Islam yang integratif]Keywords: IntegratedIslamic Education, scientific genealogy, the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching.

Abstract

Training in the workplace (DDTK) on job Analysis is a policy that must be undertaken by government apparatus; either they are positioned in central or regional level. DDTK on Job Analysis is increasingly required especially after the performance benefits were being paid to the employees within the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The benefit necessitates employees to describe their work targets which will be used as the determinant for their position/level.  DDTK on Job Analysis in the Ministry of Religious Affairs at Magelang Regency has given positive values for the employees towards the understanding of the Job Analysis considering that, before the training, there were lots of employees who did not comprehend the concept. This was evidenced by the result of the pre-test conducted in advance to the training. Organizing DDTK on Job Analysis has provided real contribution among the employees of the Ministry of Religious Affairs at Magelang Regency in terms of their understanding on Job Analysis as well as their improved competence in arranging the Job Analysis.
