Abstract

This study aims to explore the level of accessibility to religious preaching for persons with disabilities within the Islamic Da'wah Center (PUSDAI) of West Java Province. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that physical facilities and preaching media at PUSDAI are not yet fully disability-friendly. Visually and hearing-impaired individuals still face obstacles in accessing religious content due to the absence of supporting services such as sign language interpreters, alternative texts, braille materials, or audio-based resources. Moreover, PUSDAI’s digital platforms do not yet offer assistive technology features that would facilitate access for persons with disabilities. These findings indicate a gap between the ideals of inclusive preaching and current on-ground practices, which have yet to fully support the rights of people with disabilities. Although PUSDAI management has expressed openness to change, there is still no concrete policy framework to support inclusive religious services. This study recommends strategic planning based on inclusivity, multisector collaboration, and accessibility audits as initial steps toward improvement. The conclusion emphasizes the need for preaching approaches that are just, participatory, and oriented toward fulfilling the religious rights of people with disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Sundanese local culture implementation on the character development of students at MTs Alhuda Cicurug, Sukabumi. The research background is based on the importance of character education rooted in local wisdom as a response to globalization and the erosion of traditional values among the younger generation. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method and an ex-post facto correlational design. The research instrument was a closed-ended questionnaire using a Likert scale distributed to 100 student respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through Pearson correlation and simple linear regression tests. The results showed a significant and positive influence between Sundanese local culture and students’ character education. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.7455 indicates that 74.55% of the variation in student character is influenced by the implementation of Sundanese local culture in the school. The regression coefficient value of 0.9307 further supports the finding that the more the local culture is applied, the stronger the students’ character development. These findings reinforce previous research and expand it to the context of Islamic junior high schools (madrasahs), which have rarely been studied quantitatively. This research contributes both theoretically and practically to the development of a local culture-based character education model within madrasahs. It is recommended that schools actively integrate local wisdom values into both learning and extracurricular activities. Furthermore, a data-driven quantitative approach strengthens the legitimacy of future policy-making in character education. Abstract

Education in Indonesia faces serious challenges related to quality and equity, as shown by its low global ranking. This research focuses on optimising the quality of school work programs as an effort to improve students' personality competencies at Al Azhar 6 and 9 Bekasi Islamic Junior High Schools, emphasising the importance of character education in the context of formal education. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observation and document analysis, and participants were purposively selected to explore in-depth information about the implementation of the school work programme. The results showed that structured planning and organisation of the work program contributed significantly to improving teachers' personality competence and student enrolment stability, while continuous implementation, control and evaluation supported improved students' academic and non-academic achievements. The findings support the importance of collaboration between principals, teachers and parents and the use of technology and SMART methods in planning, although there are limitations related to the scope of participants and the subjectivity of the data collected, so further research is needed to extend the generalisability of the results.

Abstract

Principal management plays a crucial role in enhancing teacher motivation, which significantly influences instructional quality and student outcomes. However, limited research has systematically examined the specific mechanisms through which principal management practices affect teacher motivation in elementary school contexts. This qualitative case study was conducted at two elementary schools in West Java: SDN Subangjaya 2 (Sukabumi City) and SDN 191 Babakan Surabaya (Bandung City). Data collection employed participatory observation, in-depth semi-structured interviews with principals and teachers, and comprehensive documentation analysis. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, guided by Deming's PDCA management theory and Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory. The study revealed significant variations in management practices between the two schools across four key dimensions: planning, implementation, supervision, and follow-up activities. SDN 191 Babakan Surabaya demonstrated systematic management approaches with structured supervision, regular feedback, inclusive decision-making, and consistent recognition systems. In contrast, SDN Subangjaya 2 showed limited utilization of collaborative facilities, informal supervision, and inadequate performance recognition, leading to teacher dissatisfaction and desire for transfer. Effective principal management requires systematic implementation of the PDCA cycle integrated with understanding of teachers' motivational needs. The successful practices at SDN 191 created conditions addressing teachers' professional security, collaboration needs, appreciation, and growth opportunities simultaneously, demonstrating that implementation quality determines motivational outcomes rather than program design alone. These findings have important implications for principal training and educational policy development in elementary education settings.

Abstract

Mathematics learning motivation remains a significant challenge in elementary education, with many students experiencing difficulties and low engagement. Classroom management has been identified as a critical factor influencing student motivation, yet limited research has examined this relationship specifically in elementary mathematics contexts. This study aimed to analyze the role of classroom management in enhancing elementary students' mathematics learning motivation. A qualitative case study was conducted in one Grade VI classroom at a public elementary school in Cianjur Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected over three months through semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, non-participant observations of 24 mathematics lessons, and document analysis. Data analysis followed Creswell's framework involving data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing using inductive and deductive coding approaches. The analysis revealed a four-phase classroom management implementation model: planning, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up. Systematic planning included deliberate classroom arrangements and differentiated instruction strategies. Implementation involved consistent positive reinforcement (100% of sessions), student choice opportunities (75%), and real-world mathematics connections (87.5%). Monitoring demonstrated teacher responsiveness to student engagement cues, while follow-up ensured sustained motivational support. Quantitative indicators showed 15% improvement in homework completion and 12% increase in voluntary participation. The findings support theoretical frameworks emphasizing classroom management's multifaceted nature and demonstrate that systematic approaches significantly enhance student motivation. The four-phase model extends previous research by providing specific mechanisms through which classroom management influences mathematics learning motivation at the elementary level, addressing gaps in existing literature focused primarily on secondary education.

Abstract

This article examines the learning design of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) based on democratic and multicultural values, which can be the answer to the identity crisis experienced by the younger generation in the modern era. In the midst of the influence of globalization, technological development, and increasingly complex cultural and religious diversity, religious education is required to be more than just conveying doctrine. This approach offers learning experiences that encourage active participation, open dialogue, and reflection on students' social reality. Using a qualitative approach, this research was conducted through literature studies and case studies in schools that apply democratic values in Islamic education learning. The results show that this learning model is able to create an inclusive classroom atmosphere, strengthen a sense of empathy, and shape the character of students who are open to differences. The role of the teacher also becomes very important, namely as a value companion and dialogue facilitator, not just a text teacher. Although promising, the implementation of this approach still faces obstacles such as limited teacher understanding, lack of policy support, and lack of contextualized teaching materials. Therefore, cross-stakeholder cooperation is needed to ensure that religious learning is able to form a generation that is religious, tolerant, and ready to coexist in a diverse society.
