Abstract

This study explores the management of extracurricular activities in developing students' soft skills at Khairu Ummah Islamic Boarding School. Using a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach, the study aimed to understand how extracurricular activities contribute to soft skills development. The findings reveal that the school focuses on religion-based soft skills training, encompassing personal, social, and academic development. The goal is to equip students with the necessary skills to confidently navigate life beyond school, grounded in religious practices and strong morals. The extracurricular training is implemented in three stages: 1) Teaching, which integrates Islamic values into activities; 2) Habituation, which encourages students to adopt positive habits such as timely prayer and discipline; and 3) Assignments, providing students with opportunities to develop their soft skills through roles in various organizations, such as room administrators, rayon administrators, and scouting coordinators. These activities, including mandatory scouting and language development programs, are tailored to the specific life skills the school aims to foster.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the managerial competence of school principals—comprising technical, human, and conceptual skills—in enhancing teachers’ pedagogical competence for the implementation of the Eight Dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) at SMAN 1 and SMAN 2 Mutiara, Pidie Regency. Employing a qualitative field research design, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with source and technique triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that technical competence is manifested through collaborative lesson planning and reflective evaluation, while human competence is reflected in democratic leadership and dialogical communication that fosters a supportive school climate. Furthermore, conceptual competence allows principals to formulate contextual visions and adaptive policies aligned with student characteristics. The discussion highlights that the integration of these three competencies empowers teachers to become more professional, reflective, and creative, particularly in executing project-based learning. Ultimately, the study concludes that a principal’s ability to synthesize these managerial skills is fundamental for the effective and sustainable implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile, ensuring that teachers are adequately equipped to navigate modern educational frameworks and improve student outcomes holistically.

Abstract

Improving the quality of high school graduates is a crucial challenge in the Indonesian education system, particularly in regions like Aceh. This study aims to analyze the roles of individual school stakeholders, the forms of collaboration implemented, and the obstacles encountered in enhancing graduate quality at SMA Negeri 1 Peukan Baro, Pidie Regency. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, school committee, and parents, complemented by observation and documentation. The findings indicate that the principal plays a central role as a driver and coordinator, while teachers focus on pedagogical and character transformation. However, the participation of external stakeholders, such as parents and the school committee, remains largely administrative and inconsistent in supporting academic programs. Collaboration is manifested through intensive communication and school deliberations, although hindered by resource limitations and differing perceptions of the school’s vision. This study concludes that effective synergy requires clear role definition and strengthened two-way communication to create an educational ecosystem that supports the holistic competitiveness of graduates.

Abstract

The rapid digitalization of education, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of Society 5.0, has reshaped how schools are led, yet research on electronic leadership remains fragmented between technocentric accounts of platform adoption and human-centered accounts that foreground psychological and contextual conditions, with no synthesis reading the two through an educational-psychology lens. This study aims to reconstruct how e-leadership operates in school management within the Society 5.0 era and to specify the psychological mechanisms that determine its effectiveness. Adopting a systematic literature review guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, the study searched the Scopus database for peer-reviewed work published between 2020 and 2025 and analyzed six included studies through thematic and framework synthesis. The findings reveal three conceptualizations of e-leadership, namely technology-facilitated, hybrid, and transformative leadership, and four psychological components that underpin its effectiveness, namely self-efficacy, motivation and engagement, social influence, and adaptability. The analysis further shows that e-leadership influences outcomes indirectly, mediated by work engagement and moderated by infrastructure, culture, crisis, professional development, and organizational climate, and it integrates these patterns into a three-layer conceptual framework centered on human well-being. The principal implication for educational management is specific: leadership development and technology policy must target the cultivation of efficacy, engagement, and resilience and align digital strategy with each institution's particular configuration, rather than treating tools and training as sufficient in themselves.

Abstract

This study examines how school principals implement leadership strategies that improve the quality of primary education through the organised application of essential managerial functions—planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating (POAE). The research employed a qualitative multi-site case study design commenced in two public primary schools in the Bandar Dua District, each representing distinct accreditation levels. Data were produced via comprehensive interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and were thematically evaluated through triangulation to guarantee analytical rigor and reliability. The findings indicate that effective principals perceive leadership as a process rather than a collection of discrete actions. Principals convert collective school visions into data-driven planning, coordinate resources through collaborative and decentralized frameworks, enhance instructional quality through systematic oversight and ongoing professional development, and integrate evaluative practices grounded in learning outcomes and performance metrics to facilitate continuous improvement. These techniques exemplify a cohesive implementation of dispersed, transformational, instructional, and learning-centred leadership, tailored to specific contextual situations. Nonetheless, the efficacy of leadership is limited by inconsistent teacher capabilities, administrative requirements, and variations in resources among schools. This study enhances the educational leadership literature by promoting a process-oriented comprehension of principal leadership that connects leadership theory with routine managerial practice. The findings highlight the necessity of cohesive integration of POAE functions, participatory governance, and evidence-based decision-making to maintain quality enhancement in primary schools, affecting principal preparation and school-based management policy.

Abstract

Teachers play a strategic role in improving educational quality through pedagogical, social, personal, and professional competencies. The swift evolution of education in the context of globalization and digitalization necessitates that educators exhibit elevated levels of personal competence, self-efficacy, and inventive conduct. This study seeks to examine techniques for enhancing teacher performance based on individual capability, self-efficacy, and innovation in public elementary schools within the Peusangan District of Bireuen Regency. The research utilized a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were gathered via surveys and analysed using path analysis and SITOREM (Scientific Identification Theory for Operational Research in Education Management), while qualitative data were acquired through interviews, observations, and documentation to enhance quantitative results. The sample comprised teachers from 28 public primary schools, with 147 participants chosen via Slovin’s algorithm. The results demonstrate that personal capability, self-efficacy, and inventive conduct substantially enhance teacher performance. Educators possessing elevated self-efficacy exhibit increased initiative in fostering instructional innovation and adjusting to curriculum modifications. Nonetheless, various indices of innovation and human capability remain inadequate, especially in the exploration of novel teaching tactics and problem-solving methodologies. The study advocates for the fortification of professional development programs, the augmentation of teacher confidence, and the promotion of innovation-driven learning methodologies to elevate teacher performance and educational quality.
