Abstract

The complex material of the nervous system often makes high school students feel challenged due to limited teaching time and monotonous learning media. Designing an interactive and enjoyable edugame can simplify students' understanding of abstract concepts and increase their motivation to learn. This study aims to develop an educational game on the nervous system that is valid and practical as a recommended learning medium for high school students. The development uses the Multimedia-Based Instructional Design model by Lee & Owens, which consists of analysis, design, development and implementation, and evaluation. The sample in this study consists of 32 high school students majoring in Science. The data analysis of the validation results is done using a percentage formula, while the questionnaire reliability is analyzed using Cronbach's alpha. The results of media validation showed a score of 95%, material validation reached 100%, validation by practitioners obtained 95%, and the practicality test of the media achieved 96.7%. This educational game on the nervous system can be recommended as one of the learning media for the nervous system material.

Abstract

Students' research skills still need to be empowered. The Research-Based Learning (RBL) model is reported to improve students' research skills, but it has weaknesses that need to be addressed. The Team-Based Learning model can accommodate the weaknesses of the RBL model and vice versa. The RBL and TBL models have advantages and disadvantages that complement each other. Therefore, this study aims to integrate the RBL and TBL models into a model that is expected to empower students' research skills. This study also ensures the model's validity, practicality, and effectiveness in empowering students' research skills by using validation sheets, observation sheets, response questionnaires, and student research skills questionnaires. The Plomp & Nieveen development model is used in this study. The developed model was tested on 40 students who had taken Environmental Science courses at the University of Riau. The findings show that the developed RTBL model with the stages of Preparing, Assessing Readiness, Researching in a Team, and Reflecting is valid based on the validator's assessment. The RTBL model is also practical and effective in improving research skills. The RTBL model developed can empower research skills and can be used by educators in the learning process.

Abstract

Communication skills are important to support students in conveying information orally or in writing. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Remap-TPS learning model assisted Wizer.me website and MindMup to improve students’ communication skills at SMAN 8 Malang. Quasi-experimental research uses pretest-posttest control groups design was chosen as research design in this study. The research sample was sixty-one 11th grade students taken by simple random sampling. Data were obtained through essay test, questionnaires and observation. Data analysis uses analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) to confirm the data against the proposed hypothesis. The results showed that there was a significant effect of the remap-tps learning model assisted wizer.me and MindMup on communication skills with an increase of 54.83%. The results of the analysis can be concluded that the learning model applied is effective in improving students’ communication skills. Thus, the Remap-TPS learning model assisted wizer.me website and MindMup application is recommended to develop students’ 21st century skills.

Abstract

Biotechnology education in many contexts remains dominated by Western-oriented scientific paradigms, leading students to engage with abstract laboratory-based concepts while overlooking the rich local knowledge that forms the cultural and scientific foundations of their communities. This study explores the transformative learning experiences of high school students through the integration of Indigenous Knowledge into biotechnology education in Indonesia. The urgency of this research lies in the need to decolonize science education and make it more relevant to cultural contexts often marginalized in formal curricula. Using an ethnographic case study approach, data were collected through classroom observations, student reflections, interviews with students and community elders, and analysis of student projects focusing on the utilization of traditional nira sap in Lamongan. The participants were 36 tenth-grade students from SMAN 1 Paciran, East Java. Findings show that transformative learning occurred through students’ dynamic interactions with cultural “other(s)” in history, in memory, and with intimacy. These interactions led students to challenge their taken for granted assumptions about science, culture, and identity. This article contributes to the discourse on transformative education by illuminating how local cultural knowledge can serve as a catalyst for personal and epistemological transformation in science education.

Abstract

Collaboration skills are crucial for students to engage in teamwork, solve problems collectively, and construct deeper understanding through interactive discussions. However, existing research indicates that these skills remain underdeveloped, primarily due to lecturer-centered teaching approaches and limited social interaction—particularly in subjects like animal physiology. This study aims to develop and validate the ACCA (Activation–Collaboration–Creation–Application) learning model as a valid, practical, and effective framework for enhancing student collaboration. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) methodology based on the Plomp and Nieveen (2013) model, the study proceeded through three phases: Preliminary Research, Prototyping, and Assessment. The model was validated by experts, tested for practicality, and evaluated for effectiveness through classroom implementation. The results indicate that the ACCA model meets the criteria for validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ collaborative competence. It significantly fosters active engagement, mutual problem-solving, and shared knowledge construction. The ACCA model offers an innovative and adaptable instructional strategy applicable across various disciplines by promoting a more interactive and structured learning environment.

Abstract

Workshop telah menjadi keperluan bagi guru untuk melakukan riset, analisis data dengan statistika dan penulisan karya ilmiah. Melalui workshop diharapkan dapat dihasilkan karya ilmiah berupa artikel riset. Tujuan workshop ialah untuk menguji perbedaan hasil sebelum dan sesudah pemberian workshop riset terhadap penulisan karya ilmiah dan analisis statistika sehingga dapat membantu guru dalam menuliskan karya ilmiah. Metode yang digunakan ialah quasi experiment dengan pretest-posttest desain. Guru diberikan pretest sebelum diberikan materi dan di akhir kegiatan diberikan postest. Populasi penelitian iaah seluruh guru di SMPN1 Sukorejo, sampel terdiri dari 29 orang guru. Analisis data dengan paired-t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai pretest sebelum diberikan workshop dan postest setelah diadakan workshop. Disarankan diadakan workshop serupa di sekolah-sekolah lainnya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam mengadakan riset, analisis data, dan kemampuan menulis artikel ilmiah.

Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model RTBL lebih unggul dibandingkan model TBL dalam memberdayakan keterampilan kolaborasi mahasiswa pada matakuliah ilmu lingkungan. Model RTBL dapat dijadikan salah satu alternatif model pembelajaran yang efektif dalam memberdayakan keterampilan kolaborasi mahasiswa. Model RTBL juga direkomendasikan untuk diintegrasikan secara formal dalam kurikulum perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

Pembelajaran ini bertujuan untuk melatihkan kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik kelas 7 SMP dengan media permainan science-poly pada pokok bahasan gerak. Pembelajaran ini menggunakan metode Lesson Study. Tahapan Lesson Study ada tiga tahap yaitu Plan, Do dan See. Media Permainan science-poly ini dilengkapi pertanyaan- pertanyaan literasi yang dapat melatihkan kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik. Hasil pembelajaran menunjukkan bahwa tiga tahapan Lesson Study telah terlaksana dengan baik. Penggunaan media permainan science-poly dapat melatihkan kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik meliputi memahami pertanyaan ilmiah yang diberikan (56%), mengenali kata kunci ilmiah dari soal (59%) dan menghubungkan kata-kata kunci menjadi kesimpulan ilmiah (44%). Abstract

Critical thinking disposition is a component of higher-order thinking skills required to meet 21st-century challenges. This research aimed to develop a Moodle-assisted Guided Inquiry model (GI-Moodle) for General Biology e-learning and to enhance university students' critical thinking disposition. Fenrich's instructional model was used in this development research. Meanwhile, a quasi-experimental study was conducted at the implementation stage. This study was carried out at the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, Undikma. The data were collected using validation sheets and the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory. Descriptive quantitative analysis and ANCOVA were done. The results revealed that: the general biology e-learning developed was reliable and valid; students' critical thinking disposition increased from the pretest to the posttest, where the GI-Moodle students achieved better than the WhatApp Group-assisted Guided Inquiry students (GI-WAG) and WhatApp Group-assisted Structured Inquiry students (SI-WAG); the implementation of GI-Moodle and GI-WAG E-learning did not have a significant effect, but it was significantly different compared to the SI-WAG class. In conclusion, GI-Moodle is a viable option for enhancing college students critical thinking disposition through General Biology e-learning. It can be a reference for development in other learning
