Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences and the relationship between interest and science process skills with 80 female students and 56 male students. This research uses quantitative methods so that this research is more systematic and objective. The sampling technique used in this study used simple random sampling. Analysis of the data used using hypotheses in the form of normality, linearity and homogeneity tests and assumption tests in the form of T test and correlation test. From the results of the T test and correlation test, it was found that there were differences and relationships between the sexes in the interests and skills of class VIIA and VIIB. In this case it is evidenced by a significant value 0.05. Thus, the higher the interest of students, the higher the skills of students according to their gender. It can be said that success can be seen from the level of understanding, mastery of the material, and student achievement. The higher the understanding and mastery as well as learning achievement, the higher the level of learning success.

Abstract

Physics is one of the subjects related to various scientific concepts in which some of its applications can be found in everyday life. Thus in the learning of physics required special skills, namely science process skills. Science process skills have two categories, basic science process skills, and integration science processes. The researcher conducted research that aims to measure the ability of students' science process skills on static fluid material by using an observation sheet that matches the indicators of science process skills. The research method used is a mixed-method (mix methods) while the design used is sequential explanatory, which combines quantitative and qualitative research in a sequence using the quantitative method and then the quantitative method. From the results of interviews and observations, it can be seen that the science process skills of students at Adhyaksa 1 Junior High School in Jambi are classified as good.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the science process skills of Senior High School 8 Muaro Jambi students on temperature and heat material (shape changes). The approach used in this study is an approach with a quantitative method that uses a research design using Survey Research design. The sample used in this study was Senior High School 8 Muaro Jambi, totaling 96 students of grade XI MIPA 1 to XI MIPA 3 odd semester 2019/2020. Data collection techniques in this study were observation and interviews. The observations of students' mastery of science process skills showed a percentage of 55.2% classified as poor. This means that students have low process skills. The lack of students' process skills is because the teacher dominates the learning process more. The learning process is still oriented towards mastering the material, and rarely does the experiment. This is in line with interviews conducted by researchers.

Abstract

The model of learning is one of the approaches of strategy that teachers must carry out in a systematic and procedural to regulate the activities of learning to achieve the goal of learning. The process of learning by using a model of learning inquiry can increase the activity of the students, the courage of students in revealing ideas and ideas, and improve students' science process skills in the physics learning process. The purpose of the research is to know how students' response to models of learning of inquiry was used at the time of learning physics and see whether the application of the model the students are more skilled in learning. Research is conducted in SMA Negeri 8 Muaro Jambi on student grade X IPA 1, which aims to determine students' response when given an inquiry learning model during the process of learning physics. The instrument that is used is a questionnaire of students with a sample of 21 students. This study used a mixed-method with a sequential explanatory design. The descriptive statistics were employed in the data analysis technique to obtain the average, mode, median, minimum, and maximum values. Based on the findings of this study, it is possible to conclude that using inquiry learning models in physics learning can boost student activity, independence, and science skills. This is demonstrated by the students' responses in quite good categories. Students feel accountable for formulating, analyzing, and solving problems when using the inquiry learning methodology. So that students can learn physics in a more meaningful way, and the material is easier to retain. The student response rate to the learning model is rated as satisfactory.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the science process skills of students in physics education program on the subject matter of thermodynamic law. The population of this study is the students of physics education program at  Jambi University in 2017. The sampling technique using total sampling, so the sample of this study is all students of  physics education  program at Jambi university with a total of 91 students in 2017. The science process skills indicators observed to include observation, classification, hypothesized, relationships between variables, planning experiments, measuring, obtain and process data, experimental analysis, communication, and conclusions. Data science process skills was collected through observation sheets when the  practitioner conducts the practicum thermodynamic law. Data was  analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of this study, science process skills of physics students varied from good categories such as observation 42.85%, classification 36.26%, measuring 37.36%, experimental analysis 32.96%, and planning experiments 42.85%, conclusions 54, 94%, hypothesized 51.54%, and the relationship between variables was 42.85%. Furthermore, for the bad category such as communication 39.56%, and obtaining and processing 45.05%. These results indicate that students have not mastered the students' science process skills on several indicators. Therefore, it necessary to have a science process skills based practicum guidebook to improve student science process skills through practicum activities.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to study the attitudes and discipline of secondary school students in Indonesia and its correlation between those two characters. This was a survey study with total sampling technique of 612 respondents. The grade of discipline and attitutes were measured according to Lickert scale, while the correlation between discipline and attitude was analyzed using Pearson correlation calculation. Based on the results of the study, both the attitude and the discipline of students towards science is good. This research also revealed a significant positive correlation between students’ attitudes and discipline. Grade 7th showing the strongest correlation, and it is decreasing by the grade, with the weakest was showed by grade 9th. Key Words: attitude towards science, discipline toward science, secondary school studentsAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau sikap dan kedisiplinan siswa tingkat sekolah menengah di Indonesia serta hubungan dua karakter tersebut.
