Abstract

Currently, technology is widely used by humans, including early childhood. However, technology addiction can also affect how children interact. This can result in interpersonal intelligence, lack of socialization with the surrounding environment, and impaired language development in children. Based on the above issues, the researcher aims to describe the impact of technology on the interpersonal intelligence of early childhood. This research method uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a questionnaire distributed via Google Form to 30 parents at the Nuris Raudhatul Muttaqin Early Childhood Education Center, Tanggamus, Lampung. The results show that many children already use technology, one of which is mobile phones. One of the applications that children often use is YouTube, with 15 respondents out of 30 children. Based on the data obtained, most children use mobile phones for 30 minutes. This is in line with the maximum recommended technology use for children, which is less than 1 hour under adult supervision. In addition, the results of this study found that many parents have implemented restrictions on their children's mobile phone use. They limit the time spent on mobile phones by always accompanying their children when they use the internet, setting an example in limiting mobile phone use, and redirecting them to creative activities and educational games.

Abstract

The low level of local food literacy among elementary school students, influenced by globalization and the dominance of instant food consumption, requires a more holistic educational approach. This article aims to formulate the conceptual framework of Prophetic Food as a literacy model grounded in the eating manners of Prophet Muhammad. A systematic literature review was conducted, screening 173 articles and narrowing them to 15 relevant studies using explicit inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis revealed three major themes: (1) the importance of school-based nutrition interventions in shaping healthy eating behaviors; (2) the increasing emphasis on halalan thoyyiban principles in food consumption; and (3) the relevance of local food systems for sustainability and cultural identity. Integrating the Prophet’s eating etiquette—simplicity, cleanliness, moderation, and communal sharing—this study proposes Prophetic Food as a framework built on five prophetic values: al-‘adl (justice), al-thohārah (cleanliness), qona’ah (moderation), al-karīm (generosity), and al-akhlaq al-karīmah (noble character). The findings conclude that Prophetic Food expands food literacy beyond nutrition toward ethical, spiritual, and sustainability-oriented education. Practical implications include project-based school activities, such as communal meals following prophetic traditions, and policy recommendations for integrating prophetic food literacy into the national curriculum.

Abstract

Naturalist intelligence is a crucial aspect of early childhood development as it encourages children to recognize and directly interact with the natural environment. However, children's interaction with nature has declined due to the dominance of academic curricula and the increasing use of technology in learning, which limits environmental exploration and potentially hinders their cognitive and social development. Amid these challenges, it is essential to understand how learning strategies can be optimized to stimulate children's naturalist intelligence in a contextual manner that reflects the dynamics of field implementation, the challenges encountered, and the solutions adopted. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method using a case study approach. The research subjects were 12 students at Bahtera Multiple Intelligence Preschool, Malaysia. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation of learning activities involving children aged 3–4 years. The results indicate that nature exploration, messy play, and nature walks are effective approaches in stimulating naturalist intelligence. These strategies are supported by the use of indoor exploration spaces and nature-based materials as solutions to external constraints such as weather conditions and high exposure to digital technology among children. These findings contribute to the development of adaptive learning strategies tailored to the characteristics of naturalist intelligence in early childhood.

Abstract

This study addresses the critical transition from Early Childhood Education (PAUD) to Elementary School (SD), focusing on the development of a mobile application to support parents during this phase. The transition significantly impacts children’s social, emotional, and cognitive readiness. Conducted in Babakan Ciparay, Bandung, the study employs the Research and Development (RD) method using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) framework. The sample consists of 150 parents of children in group B kindergarten/RA/equivalent and grades 1–2 SD/MI/equivalent, representing the transition phase. In-depth interviews were conducted with six parents to gather qualitative insights. Over 50% of parents demonstrated awareness of the PAUD-SD transition, but their understanding highlighted a need for accessible digital guidance, often sourced from the internet. These insights informed the creation of the PAUD.int application. Evaluation using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and System Usability Scale (SUS) indicated high usability and acceptance of the app, confirming its effectiveness in supporting parents during this transition. The PAUD.int application has the potential to improve children's readiness and enhance parental engagement during the transition. However, challenges such as device compatibility and registration processes suggest opportunities for technical and functional enhancements. The development of the PAUD.int application demonstrates the value of digital tools in facilitating smoother PAUD-SD transitions. Future studies should explore further technical improvements and interactive features to expand its impact on parental support and child readiness.

Abstract

Violence against children—including physical, emotional, verbal, sexual abuse, and neglect—has become a critical concern in Indonesia, including in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) settings where safety should be paramount. Alarmingly, some cases involve educators as perpetrators. This study addresses the urgent need for preventive interventions by developing a Prophetic Education programme grounded in ethical and spiritual values. This study employed a quasi-experimental design involving early childhood teachers from several Raudhatul Athfal (RA) institutions in Majalengka. An initial survey of 100 teachers was conducted to assess tendencies toward violent behavior. Based on these results, 30 teachers were selected and randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 15) and a control group (n = 15). The experimental group received structured training based on prophetic values such as compassion, patience, and empathy, while the control group followed conventional parenting activities. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and independent t-tests. The post-test findings showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups across all violence dimensions—physical, verbal, emotional, and behavioral determinants. Teachers in the experimental group demonstrated reduced tendencies toward violent behavior, and children under their supervision showed improved emotional regulation and interpersonal conduct. The study concludes that Prophetic Education is effective in reducing violence in early childhood settings. The programme offers a culturally grounded, values-based framework that can inform teacher training, early childhood curricula, and educational policy reforms aimed at fostering safe, respectful, and nurturing learning environments.

Abstract

Hateful behavior, driven by stereotypes and prejudice related to ethnicity, gender, religion, politics, aggression, and sexuality, frequently manifests in educational settings. Addressing these issues in early childhood is crucial to fostering inclusive environments. This study employed a quasi-experimental design to evaluate the effectiveness of a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-assertive training intervention in reducing stereotypes and prejudice in early childhood education. Seventy children were sampled, with 20 children each assigned to an experimental and a control group. The findings reveal that children, even at a young age, exhibit stereotyped behaviors of low intensity, and some demonstrate prejudice. The CBT-assertive training intervention significantly reduced these behaviors in the experimental group. Notable outcomes included a marked decrease in stereotyped behaviors and a positive shift in attitudes among children who participated in the training. These results suggest that CBT-assertive training is an effective method for reducing stereotypes and prejudice in early childhood education. Incorporating this approach into early education curricula has the potential to promote social and emotional well-being. CBT-assertive training holds promise as a practical strategy for fostering inclusivity and addressing bias in early childhood. Future research should examine the long-term impact and broader applicability of this intervention in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

Bridging the learning gap between Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Elementary School (ES) requires an effective transition program. An adaptive learning strategy is crucial to accommodate diverse student profiles and preparation levels. This study examines the effectiveness of the Picture Word Inductive Model with Smartphone Assistance (PWIMSA) in enhancing literacy skills during the ECE-ES transition. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control-group design was employed without randomization. The study involved 203 first-grade students from five elementary schools in Bandung, selected through purposive sampling. The schools were chosen based on their adoption of the autonomous curriculum and piloting of the ECE-ES transition program. The experimental group (n = 93) received instruction using the PWIMSA approach, while the control group (n = 110) participated in the school literacy movement program. An independent t-test analysis of gain scores revealed a significant difference in literacy skill improvement between the experimental and control groups (significance value α). The experimental group demonstrated an average gain of 6.92 points higher than the control group, indicating that PWIMSA is more effective in enhancing foundational reading skills. The findings suggest that PWIMSA supports literacy development by accommodating diverse student abilities and learning needs. Its integration into transition programs can bridge early education gaps and foster stronger literacy foundations. PWIMSA is an effective instructional approach for improving literacy skills in the ECE-ES transition program, addressing student diversity and enhancing foundational reading abilities.
