Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to integrate gravity and magnetic anomaly analysis to characterize subsurface structures as an indicative basis for determining prospective zones for new city development in North Sempaja. GGMPlus gravity data were processed using complete Bouguer anomalies and regional-residual separation, while NOAA-WMM magnetic data were processed using TMI, RTE, and TDR and TDX derived filters. The processing results indicate contrasting geophysical response zoning, where the west-central sector is characterized by high to moderate gravity and magnetic anomalies, indicating relatively more compact and homogeneous rock conditions. In contrast, the east to southeast sectors and the Bukit Berambai area are dominated by low anomalies and NW-SE and NE-SW trending structural lineaments related to the complexity of shallow structures. The integration of gravity and magnetic results provides an initial indication that the west-central sector is more prospective for regional development, while the eastern sector requires further mitigation considerations. The interpretations presented are indicative and based on geophysical proxies, so verification through geotechnical investigations is still necessary. Keywords: gravity, magnetic, subsurface structure, Bouguer anomaly, land stability, North Sempaja ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengintegrasikan analisis anomali gravitasi dan magnetik untuk mengkarakterisasi struktur bawah permukaan sebagai dasar indikatif penentuan zona prospektif pengembangan kota baru di Sempaja Utara.

Abstract

Patchouli is one of the most valuable export commodities in Aceh. Patchouli oil must meet several qualifications to obtain export eligibility certification, particularly in terms of its environmental impact, where an in-depth analysis of supply chain transparency is necessary, spanning from seed procurement to distribution and entry into the international market. Despite the large potential for patchouli oil production, industries in Aceh face critical challenges related to supply chain transparency and traceability, which undermine efforts to meet sustainability standards and global market requirements. This study analyzes the transparency of the patchouli oil procurement at the PP NILAS Cooperative and the distribution process through PT Ugreen to the buyer, two key institutions in the local value chain. This study use an exploratory case study approach, combining field observation, purposeful sampling, and semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, including farmers, distillers, intermediaries, exporters, cooperatives, and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)s. The study found traceability gaps across several elements of the supply chain, limited documentation practices among smallholders, and challenges in aligning local operations with global certification demands. The study highlights the need for supply chain digitalization, inclusive training, and multi-stakeholder collaboration to strengthen supply chain transparency and support sustainable export growth for the Aceh patchouli industry.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of transformational leadership on innovative work behavior in higher education institutions, examining the mediating roles of knowledge sharing and motivation to learn. Data were collected from 150 full-time lecturers in public and private universities in Padang, Indonesia. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The findings reveal that transformational leadership positively influences innovative work behavior directly and indirectly through knowledge sharing, confirming a partial mediation effect. However, motivation to learn does not significantly mediate this relationship, indicating its intrinsically driven nature. The study confirms the importance of leadership style and collaborative culture in fostering innovation among academic staff. Theoretically, the research enriches the understanding of psychological and social mechanisms linking leadership to innovation, particularly in the unique context of higher education. Practically, it offers insights for university leaders to cultivate a supportive environment that encourages knowledge sharing and intrinsic learning motivation, which are essential for sustaining innovation in academic settings.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the economy of Aceh during the Japanese occupation (1942–1945), a critical period in Indonesian history. The Japanese colonial government’s centralized and tightly controlled policies had a significant impact on Aceh’s economic structure, which had previously relied on agriculture, trade, and plantations. The Japanese implemented exploitative economic policies, including the control of natural resources and the seizure of agricultural land, to support the war effort. The consequences included a decline in food production, shortages of basic commodities, and a widespread economic crisis among the population, resulting in a deterioration of the people’s welfare. This study employs a qualitative approach and critical historical research, analyzing primary and secondary sources as well as literature reviews to reconstruct Aceh’s economy under Japanese colonial rule. The findings reveal that the Japanese colonial government dismantled the traditional economic order to support the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere’s war machine. The policies of mandatory rice surrender and jatropha cultivation forced the Acehnese people to abandon their traditional subsistence farming practices, leading to mass starvation and chronic food shortages. The circulation of large quantities of Japanese invasion currency triggered hyperinflation that destroyed the people’s purchasing power. The traditional plantation sector also suffered total collapse due to forced land conversion, which severed the export trade chain that had previously been a mainstay of the economy. This Japanese policy has left an economic legacy that has shaped Aceh’s development since independence

Abstract

Single-use plastics (SUPs) remain widely used in cafés and restaurants in Banda Aceh because they are perceived as practical, hygienic, and cost-efficient, despite their environmental impacts. This study examined the factors sustaining SUP use, the relationship between environmental awareness and behavior among business owners and consumers, and strategies for reducing reliance on SUPs. A qualitative descriptive approach was applied through field observations and in-depth interviews with 48 respondents, comprising 24 café and restaurant owners or managers and 24 consumers. Interview and observational data were coded and analyzed using NVivo within the framework of Social Practice Theory. The findings show that SUPs is influenced by product availability, convenience, perceived cleanliness, operational costs, consumer habits, inadequate washing facilities, limited access to environmentally preferable alternatives, and weak policy implementation. Although respondents generally understood the environmental consequences of SUPs, this awareness did not consistently translate into behavioral change, particularly among café owners and consumers. Reducing SUPs therefore requires coordinated interventions, including environmental education, business-level standard operating procedures, incentives for reusable alternatives, improved infrastructure, and stronger local regulations. These measures can support more sustainable consumption practices in Banda Aceh’s food-service sector.
