Abstract

Natural fibers continue to attract the interest of researchers to develop them as composite reinforcements in automotive and non-construction building interior applications. Basically, natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites are not suitable for applications exposed to heat. Investigating changes in mechanical properties due to temperature increases, this research is very important to conduct. The addition of filler (CaCO3) is known to improve the performance of natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites. This study investigates the physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of polyester composites reinforced with waru fibers with CaCO3 powder filler. The composites were fabricated using the hand lay-up method with a volume fraction of 30% waru fibers and CaCO3 powder with a volume fraction of 0-10%. The density of the polyester composite increased from 1.42 to 1.68 and 1.87 g/cm3 as the volume fraction CaCO3 0-10%. The results of dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) testing of the polyester composite showed that parameters such as loss modulus, storage modulus, and tan delta also increased with increasing CaCO3 content. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) testing also showed increased thermal resistance after the addition of 5% (wt) (STL) and 10% (wt) (ZMB) with a residual combustion of 6.54% and 7.89% for each STL and ZMB composite, respectively. Compared to the TKO composite, it had the lowest combustion residue of 3.61%. Tensile strength and elastic modulus showed the same trend, namely an increase, while the elongation of the composite decreased with the addition of CaCO3 powder. The overall test results showed that polyester composites reinforced with CWf fibers and CaCO3 fillers were suitable for automotive and building interior applications.

Abstract

Indonesia’s fitness industry is rapidly growing as public awareness of the importance of exercise increases. However, many gyms impose unilateral standard contracts containing non-refund clauses, auto-debit systems, and strict cancellation policies. These practices often harm consumers, as seen in the sudden closure of Gold’s Gym Indonesia in 2025, which led to refund claims totaling Rp 4.4 billion. This study aims to analyze the form and content of standard clauses in fitness center membership contracts in Indonesia and evaluate their compliance with Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. Using a normative legal research method with a case study approach, this study combines empirical data on contract practices with legal material analysis. The findings indicate that unilateral standard contracts may be null and detrimental to consumers. Therefore, organizations such as YLKI and BPSK play a crucial role in dispute resolution, preventive education, and ensuring fair and transparent contract practices to protect consumer rights.uits.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive qualitative study that aims to describe cross-cultural human resource management (HRM) practices in Germany and Ghana. This research method uses literature studies from various sources such as journals and books related to cross-cultural HRM practices. The results of the discussion show that HRM practices in Germany involve the experience of transporting workers in a spatial labor context based on technological change, while in Ghana, the focus is on the consequences of permanent layoffs from the civil service. The implication of this research is the need for attention to the impact of poor work experience on one's employment, as well as the importance of re-employment programs for laid-off workers. In addition, the research also highlights the importance of a competency-based training discipline perspective in the acquisition of occupational skills, particularly in the field of OSH in Germany. These implications emphasize the need for cross-sectoral cooperation in addressing OHS challenges.

Abstract

Aluminum 6061 is one of the most widely used materials across various industrial sectors due to its good mechanical properties, lightweight nature, and corrosion resistance. However, in acidic environments, aluminum remains susceptible to corrosion, which can reduce its performance and service life. This study utilizes agricultural waste from kapok seeds (Ceiba pentandra) as an environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitor for Aluminum 6061. The extract was obtained through maceration using ethanol as the solvent and was applied in corrosion tests of Aluminum 6061 in 1 M HCl solution. The evaluation was conducted using potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques, along with isothermal adsorption analysis to understand the adsorption mechanism of the inhibitor on the metal surface. The results showed that the kapok seed extract significantly increased polarization resistance and reduced the corrosion rate, achieving a maximum inhibition efficiency of 78.77% at an optimal concentration of 3000 ppm. The inhibitor adsorption followed the Freundlich isotherm model, indicating strong binding interactions between the inhibitor molecules and the aluminum surface. Therefore, kapok seed extract has great potential as an environmentally friendly and cost-effective corrosion inhibitor for aluminum-based industries.

Abstract

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has promising potential as gas purification membrane and bioplastic substitute for conventional materials. PVA material was reinforced with nanocellulose timoho fibers (NCT). Ten grams of NCT, 30 mL of distilled water, and 10 grams of PVA were stirred (500 rpm) at <80 oC on a magnetic stirrer until gel formed, then spread on a Petri dish and dried in an oven at 50 °C for 21 hours. The elongation, tensile strength, and elastic modulus test results of PVA-NCT biocomposites showed increases of 21%, 29.97%, and 31.57%, respectively, compared to PVA biocomposites. This was due to the role of NCT as reinforcing agent and the mobility of PVA when tensile test. SEM morphology showed a fine speckled surface due to clumping. The thermal resistance of biocomposite increased due to the good interfacial bonding between NCT and the PVA matrix, thereby reducing the rate of weight loss. Exothermic reactions occurred in both biocomposites. The PVA biocomposite had a melting temperature of 110.34 °C, and PVA-NCT biocomposite 119.83 °C. The antibacterial activity of the PVA biocomposite has a lower inhibitory power compared to the PVA-NCT biocomposite. These biocomposites can be used for membrane materials and environmentally friendly bioplastics.

Abstract

Abstract

The 2024 DKI Jakarta Gubernatorial Election is one of the main political agendas that attracts public attention in Indonesia. In this context, sentiment analysis of the Gubernatorial and Vice Gubernatorial candidates is important to understand public opinion. With the advancement of technology, especially the internet and social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), the public can freely express their opinions regarding the candidates. This study aims to analyze public sentiment towards the three pairs of Gubernatorial and Vice Gubernatorial candidates of DKI Jakarta through tweets collected using the crawling method, resulting in 6,120 rows of data, with each candidate pair obtaining 2,040 rows of data. The accuracy of sentiment analysis was calculated using Naïve Bayes, K-Nearest Neighbor, and Decision Tree algorithms to compare the accuracy of these three algorithms with an 80:20 testing-training data split and feature extraction using TF-IDF and Transformer, implemented using the RapidMiner software. Based on the analysis results, Naïve Bayes with TF-IDF representation showed the highest accuracy for Paslon 1 at 86.76%, followed by Paslon 2 at 76.96%, and Paslon 3 at 72.79%. Meanwhile, K-NN with TF-IDF achieved the best results for Paslon 1 (67.40%) and Paslon 2 (71.32%), while Decision Tree achieved the highest accuracy for Paslon 1 at 72.55%. For the Transformer representation, the overall accuracy was lower compared to TF-IDF, with Paslon 1 achieving 56.86%, Paslon 2 at 53.43%, and Paslon 3 at 51.23%. These results indicate that TF-IDF is more effective for sentiment analysis of tweets related to the Gubernatorial candidates, with Naïve Bayes being the most accurate algorithm.

Abstract

This research is a comprehensive report on a community service program conducted at the Arrahman Cidadap Islamic Boarding School, Sukabumi. The primary focus of this study is an in-depth analysis and assistance in the implementation of the National Sharia Board-Indonesian Council of Ulama (DSN-MUI) Fatwa Number 153/DSN-MUI/VI/2022 concerning the Early Settlement of Murabahah Financing Debt, which revises the old paradigm of Fatwa Number 23/DSN-MUI/III/2002. This research is motivated by academic and practical concerns regarding the low literacy of the boarding school's financial managers regarding the legal shift from a "voluntary" nature (jawaz) to "mandatory" (wujub) in providing discounts (muqassah) for customers who settle their debts early. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, this research involved the active participation of the boarding school's cooperative administrators in three cycles: problem mapping, educational action, and system institutionalization. The research findings indicate that prior to the intervention, murabahah practices at the Arrahman Cidadap Boarding School tended to ignore the principle of distributive justice, where the profit margin was still taken in full even though the financing duration was significantly reduced due to early settlement. Through a dialogical PAR approach, the community service team successfully reconstructed the understanding of the asatidz and financial managers that muqassah is not merely a reduction in profit, but a theological mandate to uphold the principles of al-'adalah (justice) and al-maslahah (public interest) to avoid ghubn (unilateral loss) and consuming wealth unjustly. The final result of this community service is the establishment of a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that integrates a proportional calculation formula in accelerated settlements, which has been proven to increase the trust of the students' guardians and the institution's liquidity. This report recommends the need for massive socialization of the latest DSN-MUI fatwas to the economic bases of the ummah in rural areas to prevent a gap between sharia idealism and field reality.
