Abstract

This study aims to describe the self-efficacy of junior high school students in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra in solving mathematical problems in social arithmetic material. This research includes survey research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The research subjects were 67 junior high school students in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra who came from two schools with the category of one public school and one private school. The instrument used is a self-efficacy questionnaire consisting of 27 statement items based on self-efficacy indicators that will be filled out by students, and interview guidelines. The results showed that the average self-efficacy of private junior high school students in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra as a whole of 67 students was in the high category, which was 90.24. In general, students have a high tendency of self-efficacy. For example, having confidence or confidence in the abilities possessed in carrying out and completing the tasks at hand so that they are able to overcome obstacles and achieve the expected goals, so it can be concluded that students who have high efficacy abilities will have an impact on their learning achievement and students' mathematical problem solving. getting better.

Abstract

Didactic transposition is an approach that allows the delivery of material more effectively and in accordance with student needs. The aim of this research is to explore how the concept of fractions is taught to fifth-grade elementary school students based on the didactic transposition approach. This research is part of didactic transposition research on fractional material, which consists of four stages: scholarly knowledge, knowledge to be taught, taught knowledge, and learned knowledge. Specifically, in this writing, the findings are presented only for the taught knowledge stage using qualitative research with descriptive methods. The results of the research show that the material presented in PBM shows a shift in knowledge on the concept of fractions from the concept of fractions as scholarly knowledge and knowledge to be taught to the concept of fractions as taught knowledge. This transition shows that there is a conceptual gap, both the concept gap between the concept definition presented by teachers in PBM as taught knowledge and the formal concept definition of scholarly knowledge, as well as the concept gap between the concept definition presented in PBM as taught knowledge and the concept definition presented in school mathematics textbooks as knowledge to be taught.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the learning obstacles experienced by students in the concept of addition and subtracting whole numbers through the strategies used in solving word problems. This research is a qualitative descriptive study whose data was taken using tests and interviews. The test was given to 30 grade 3 students from two different elementary schools. Their answers were classified by error type and interviews were conducted to further explore how they arrived at solutions. For additional information, open interviews were conducted with each class teacher. Three types of learning obstacles were occured. The attitude of students who appear to be less confident in determining strategies and unsure of what to do with questions in the form of stories indicates the existence of ontogenic obstacle. Students' success in completing one situation and failing in another situation in the same concept indicates the existence of epistemological obstacle. Students' failure to recognize key words in the story that indicate addition or subtraction situations indicates didactic obstacle.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis data literatur terkait tipe kepribadian extrovert dan introvert terhadap kemampuan matematis siswa. Dalam penelitian ini, dengan menggunakan metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) pendekatan kualitatif terdiri dari 27 sampel hasil penelitian. Penelitian diambil dari jurnal yang terindeks Sinta dan Garuda di seluruh Indonesia dan diterbitkan pada tahun 2020–2024. Dalam mengumpulkan data, setiap artikel yang membahas mengenai tipe kepribadian extrovert dan introvert terhadap kemampuan matematis siswa diteliti berdasarkan tahun penelitian, jenjang pendidikan, indeks jurnal, ukuran sampel, jenis penelitian, dan hasil penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, pada lima tahun terakhir, artikel yang membahas mengenai tipe kepribadian extrovert dan introvert terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis yang paling mendominasi. Sebaliknya, para peneliti cenderung kurang memprioritaskan penelitian yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan koneksi matematis. Mayoritas peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif pada jenjang pendidikan SMP. Sebagian besar sampel penelitian memiliki jumlah sampel kurang dari 30 serta sebagian besar artikel penelitian yang dikaji telah menerima akreditasi Sinta 3. Dari seluruh artikel penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat beberapa perbedaan hasil penelitian dari setiap indikator kemampuan matematis siswa. Kami berharap penelitian selanjutnya akan melakukan penelitian tentang kemampuan matematis kembali untuk pengembangan dalam pembelajaran matematika terutama indikator kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa.

Abstract

The aims of this study is to analyze publications on early algebra in middle schools to contribute to the development of related literature. A total of 234 articles on early algebra published in various Scopus databases between 2013 and 2024 were retrieved and analyzed through a bibliometric analysis approach and 19 articles through a Comprehensive Meta Analysis (CMA). The results showed fluctuating trends in research related to early algebra in middle schools. The surge in publications using VOSviewer and RStudio from 2013 to 2024 did not align with a corresponding increase in average citations, contributing to a stagnation in the average citation per year. The noticeable upward trend in the volume of publications on early algebra since the beginning of 2013 indicates a dynamic and evolving research landscape in this field. This consistency suggests a widespread and sustained interest in early algebra research beyond the confines of a single country, further emphasizing its global relevance and significance. Integrating multimedia technology into early algebra instruction significantly enhances student learning outcomes. Moreover, access to technology and enhanced learning resources through technology integration can play a more crucial role in improving the effectiveness of early algebra learning in countries with lower income levels.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematical problem-solving ability of students at Vocational High School (VHS) through implementing Project Based Learning (PjBL). The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a matching-only pretest-posttest control group design, with a sample of 64 students divided into two classes, namely experimental and control classes, each consisting of 32 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, where the sample was selected based on specific criteria relevant to the research objectives. Data were collected using tests of mathematical problem-solving ability administered before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the treatment. Data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test and a two-way ANOVA test with univariate general linear model (GLM) analysis. The results showed a difference between the experimental and control groups before the treatment. However, after the treatment, the experimental group had higher mathematical problem-solving ability than the control group, including the improvement and interaction between PjBL implementation and the Early Mathematics Skills (EMS) category.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perencanaan APBN pada pemerintah pusat sebagai variabel terikat. Variabel penyerapan anggaran, pendapatan pajak dan kebijakan fiskal sebagai variabel bebas yang mempengaruhinya. Kajian ini adalah literature review yang memaparkan adanya pengaruh penyerapan anggaran; pendapatan pajak; dan kebijakan fiskal terhadap perencanaan APBN, Artikel ini merupakan kajian dalam administrasi terapan untuk menambah literasi pengaruh diantara variabel untuk keperluan penelitian selanjutnya. Hasil literature review adalah penyerapan anggaran, pendapatan pajak dan kebijakan fiskal berpengaruh terhadap perencanaan APBN.

Abstract

This paper presents the analysis of teaching of Math that took place in the classroom to identify the characteristics of didactical contracts that occur as part of a didactical situation. The design experiment was conducted on 31 seventh grade students and a mathematics teacher on negative integer operations lessons. The researchers analyzed the ongoing learning, how the didactical situation stages evolve in the teacher-student interaction that allows the formation of new knowledge or concepts in the student and how the teacher organizes the responsibility for achieving the learning objectives. The Analysis showed that students, at an early stage, can perform negative integers operations by utilizing the basic concepts they get in primary school. This concept can bridge into a new knowledge that identifies the properties of integer count operations and builds power of mind on problem-solving.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the level of abstraction mathematical ability of the students through learning using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) with Visual Basic Application (VBA) for Microsoft Excel. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method and the subject of this study is junior high school students of grade 9th in one school in Ngamprah as many as 35 students. One of the instruments in this study is the abstraction test. Results show that as many as 65.71% of students are in the first level of Perceptual Abstraction. As many as 57.14% of students are in the second level of Internalization. As many as 31.43% of students are in the third level of Interiorization, and as many as 17.14% of students are at the last level, namely Second Level of Interiorization. Overall, the sample in this study can be categorized into four levels of abstraction.

Abstract

This research aims at developing local instruction theory for learning combinations by using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). This research uses a design research approach, Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT), developed from a series of activities to obtain a better understanding about combinations at Senior High School (SHS) students. Theoretical development is supported by an interactive process in designing learning activities, conducting teaching experiment and conducting retrospective analysis to contribute to combinations of Local Instruction Theory (LIT). An understanding of combinations emerges and develops during classroom learning activities. Qualitative analysis of teaching experiments shows that by using local instruction theory teaching materials that characterize RME students are able to develop their understanding about a combination.
