Abstract

Law enforcement of election crimes is a critical aspect to ensure the creation of a fair, honest, and transparent democratic process. This research discusses the role of the Integrated Law Enforcement Centre (Gakkumdu) under Bawaslu East Jakarta in handling and resolving cases related to election crimes. Gakkumdu Bawaslu East Jakarta is mandated to address various violations, including administrative breaches, code of ethics violations, and criminal acts within the electoral process. This study aims to identify how Gakkumdu East Jakarta carries out its preventive and enforcement functions, as well as to analyse the challenges encountered in implementing these tasks. The research adopts a qualitative method with a literature and legal approach, utilising secondary data sources such as official documents, reports, regulations, and interviews with related stakeholders. The findings reveal that Gakkumdu East Jakarta plays a pivotal role in maintaining electoral integrity by actively monitoring, investigating, and processing election violations. However, several obstacles persist, notably limited human and financial resources, the complexity of legal procedures, and challenges in inter-institutional coordination between Bawaslu, the police, and the prosecutor’s office. This research emphasizes the need for improved institutional synergy, capacity building, and clearer regulatory frameworks to enhance the effectiveness of Gakkumdu’s performance in future elections. Strengthening these aspects is vital to upholding democratic values and ensuring that elections run according to the principles of fairness and justice.

Abstract

Background: Exposure to the endocrine-disrupting chemical bisphenol A (BPA) is a suspected contributor to the type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) pandemic. This study aimed to move beyond simple correlation and investigate the adjusted association between urinary BPA and the dual pathophysiological defects of T2DM—insulin resistance and pancreatic β-cell failure—with a novel emphasis on contrasting basal versus stimulated β-cell function in an understudied Indonesian cohort. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 40 patients with T2DM were recruited from a tertiary hospital in Palembang, Indonesia. Urinary BPA was quantified by liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LCMS). Insulin resistance was assessed by the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR). β-cell function was evaluated using the C-peptide index (CPI) at fasting and 1-hour post-75g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Multivariable linear regression models were constructed to determine the association between urinary BPA (log-transformed) and metabolic indices, adjusting for age, gender, and body mass index (BMI). Results: After adjusting for confounders, higher log-urinary BPA remained a significant independent predictor of higher log-HOMA-IR (β = 0.58, 95% CI: 0.31-0.85, p < 0.001). BPA was also independently associated with poorer β-cell function, showing a significant inverse association with the fasting CPI (β = -0.45, 95% CI: -0.73 to -0.17, p = 0.003). Critically, this association was markedly stronger and more profound with the 1-hour stimulated CPI (β = -0.79, 95% CI: -0.99 to -0.59, p < 0.001). The variance in stimulated CPI explained by the model (R2) was substantially higher than for other indices. Conclusion: Higher environmental BPA exposure is independently associated with both heightened insulin resistance and compromised β-cell function in T2DM. The distinctly stronger association with impaired stimulated β-cell secretion, even after adjusting for key confounders, identifies a critical mechanism by which BPA may accelerate functional β-cell exhaustion, the pivotal event in T2DM progression.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The tremendous development of social media usage—which now exceeds 5.4 billion people worldwide—has brought digital platforms to the center of marketing strategy. However, existing research frequently ignores the impact of strategic planning and internal content skills on engagement and performance. By investigating the impact of Digital Content Capability (DCC) and Social Media Marketing Strategy (SMMS) on Customer Engagement (CE) and Social Media Performance (SMP) among Indonesian fashion MSMEs, this study fills a significant knowledge gap. Data from 130 respondents were evaluated quantitatively using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS). The results suggest that DCC and SMMS have a considerable impact on CE, which then mediates their effect on SMP. The findings show that social media efficacy is based on more than just frequency or platform choice, but also on the strategic capacity to create relevant, consistent, and analytically driven content. This study provides both theoretical insights and practical methods for SMEs to improve their content strategies and digital outcomes.

Abstract

Gray mold, caused by the necrotrophic fungus Botrytis cinerea, is a devastating disease in tomato production worldwide, necessitating the development of sustainable and effective control strategies. Plant-derived biostimulants offer a promising eco-friendly alternative to synthetic fungicides by enhancing the plant's innate immune system. This study, conducted in greenhouse facilities in Palembang, Indonesia, evaluated the efficacy of a novel plant-derived biostimulant (PDB-MX7), a composition of Ascophyllum nodosum and Moringa oleifera extracts, in controlling gray mold in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. 'Mutiara'). Tomato plants were treated with PDB-MX7 and subsequently inoculated with a virulent B. cinerea isolate. We assessed disease progression, plant growth parameters, and a suite of underlying defense mechanisms. These included the quantification of oxidative stress markers (H₂O₂, MDA), the activity of key defense-related enzymes (PAL, PPO, SOD, CAT), the accumulation of defense phytohormones (salicylic acid, jasmonic acid), and the expression levels of pathogenesis-related genes (PR-1, PDF1.2) via RT-qPCR. Pre-treatment with PDB-MX7 significantly reduced gray mold disease severity by 76.4% and lesion diameter by 71.8% compared to untreated, inoculated plants. This protective effect was associated with a significant priming of the plant's defense system. PDB-MX7-treated plants exhibited lower levels of H₂O₂ and MDA upon infection, indicating reduced oxidative stress. Furthermore, these plants showed a rapid and potent induction of PAL and PPO activity (3.1-fold and 2.8-fold higher than controls at 48 hpi, respectively). This was corroborated by a significant accumulation of salicylic acid and a more than 5-fold upregulation in the expression of the SA-responsive gene PR-1, indicating the activation of Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR). In conclusion, the novel biostimulant composition PDB-MX7 confers substantial resistance against B. cinerea in tomato by priming the plant's innate immunity, primarily through the activation of the SA-mediated SAR pathway. This study highlights the potential of PDB-MX7 as a powerful tool for integrated pest management programs in sustainable tomato cultivation.
