Abstract

The lack of priests in some dioceses in Indonesia has become a constant problem due to the dearth of candidates for the clergy. This situation  cannot be overcome if the diocesan Bishop of the mentioned dioceses would con-tinue to entrust parochial ministries only to the ordained  ministers. A question then could be raised: Can parochial ministry be entrusted to a lay person? This is a fundamental question because this is not just a case of maximizing the participation of the laity in handling parochial ministries, but also a question about the legality of allowing the laity to handle parochial ministry. Canon 517 § 2 provides the possibi-lity of entrusting the pastoral care of a parish to a person other than priest. For the purpose of this study, I focuse on the person of lay cate-chists due to their specific preparation for such important service. By virtue of law and given by the parti-cular condition of some dioceses in Indonesia as well as their personal capability, some of lay cathecists should be appointed as parochial administrators by the diocesan Bishop given the needs of the people and the place.

Teachers' choice of an inappropriate learning model in teaching students causes students to need help understanding the material being taught well. This research investigates and analyses the strong influence of the problem-based learning model based on Balinese local wisdom on the significant reduction in science misconceptions in Class V elementary school students. This research is quasi-experimental, with a non-equivalent post-test-only control group design. The population is 203 students from 8 elementary schools (SD). The sample in this study was 32 experimental class students and 30 control class students who had previously been determined using random sampling techniques. Data on students' science misconceptions was obtained using the objective test method followed by the CRI (Certainty of Response Index) method and analysed using the two-way ANOVA test. The average science misconception of experimental class students was 7.78 in the low category, and the control class was 10.73 in the low sort. Inferential statistical analysis showed that the significance value was 0.000, less than 0.05 (0.000, less than 0.05). The research concludes a significant difference in science misconceptions between students who follow the problem-based learning model based on local Balinese wisdom and those who follow the conventional model in fifth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Students still need to be fully interested in the learning process. One of the contributing factors is the need for more use of media as a means of the learning process. This research aims to analyze the design and produce valid and practical media. This research is included in the type of development using the ADDIE model. The research subjects were one material expert, one learning media expert, one practitioner/teacher, three students for individual trials, and 9 for small group trials. The data collection method uses a questionnaire. Meanwhile, data analysis techniques use qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results show the validity of the media, with the material expert's assessment getting an average score of 4.8, indicating very valid quality, and the learning media expert's assessment getting an average score of 4.82, indicating very valid quality. The practicality analysis carried out by practitioners/teachers obtained an average score of 4.72, which is included in the very valid category. The analysis of individual trials obtained an average score of 4.74, namely the very valid category, and the assessment results of small group trials obtained an average score of 4.72, the very valid category. This means that the developed media is proven valid and practical for learning. This research implies that the novelty of science material in promotional comic video media can hone teachers' abilities in utilizing technological advances to advance education and increase students' interest in learning.
