Abstract

This study investigates the performance of Gravitational Water Vortex Turbines (GWVT) using different conical basin configurations, focusing on the impact of vane designs on turbine efficiency. Four basin models were tested: model A (no vanes), Model B (180-degree vanes), Model C (90-degree vanes), and Model D (45-degree vanes). The basin was constructed from resin mixed with fiber, with the addition of vanes designed in various configurations to enhance vortex formation and energy extraction. Experimental testing was conducted under varying load conditions, with efficiency determined by the ratio of the potential energy of the water to the mechanical energy generated by the turbine. The results showed a significant improvement in efficiency with the introduction of vanes. Model B, featuring 180-degree vanes, demonstrates the highest efficiency, achieving an increase of up to 17.08% compared to the base model (Model A). Model C, with 90-degree vanes, and Model D, with 45-degree vanes, show efficiency increases of 14.56% and 12.08%, respectively. These results imply that the design and arrangement of vanes are essential in enhancing vortex formation and turbine performance.

Abstract

Design for Assembly (DFA) is one of method in the assembly systems to ease the assembly during simultaneous process from the beginning until become new products of the whole components. However, the obstacles in assembly process could be occurred in waste separation machine. Therefore, in order to obtain the optimization of assembly process, it is needed to conduct an analysis of component design before the production. DFA analysis will obtain the value of assembly efficiency. The efficiency value of prototype machine will achieve a way to separate the waste, both ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic materials. Furthermore, efficiency value theoretically on assembly of waste separation machine is 14.22% at 548.47seconds. The efficiency value of waste separation machine after assembly process in actual condition is 11.83% at 658.88seconds. The distinction efficiency value is caused by difficulties in assembly of the belt roller and sub assembly of base support on motor. As consequences, the time to get assembly will take more time on actual condition rather than theoretically.

Abstract

Electric drive on an electric bike, consist of electric motor, power converter and electronic controller. These are the mover of electric vehicle system. This paper discussed the three-phase inverter with Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) method as a three-phase induction motor drive in electric bike application. The discussed that are modeled by using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The purpose of this paper is to get the analysis of the three-phase inverter SVPWM as a three-phase induction motor drive with specification 500 W, 50 V, 50 Hz and 8 poles. Converter using a battery with a voltage 48 V. Before the battery voltage is converted by an inverter, battery voltage was increased through a boost converter up to 70.62 V. Through simulation with MATLAB software was obtained curve of sinusoidal voltage, current, and speed of the motor by SVPWM controlled system. In this paper also tested against changes in the value of the fundamental frequency inverter. Test results show that the inverter can be set the speed of the motor at a frequency of 20 Hz to 50 Hz. Abstract

Palm oil mills in PT. Perkebunan Nusantara V PKS - Sei Galuh is a producer of crude palm oil CPO (Crude Palm Oil), which consists of several stations the processing of palm oil, one of which is the threshing station. Threshing station is the station there is a separation palm kernel process with the cluster in a way slammed into a rotating drum. The purpose of this research is to design the shape and dimension of the station threshing model palm oil mill in PT. Perkebunan Nusantara V - PKS Sei Galuh with scale of 1: 8 using Autodesk Autocad 2014 Software. Design of shapes and dimension threshing station model is divided into three groups, namely the design shape and dimension of auto feeder, design shape and dimension of thresher and design shape and dimension of screw conveyor. The design shape and dimension of auto feeder are 2 units sprocket and 11 plate shaped profile L. The design shape and dimension of thresher is a diameter of 230 mm and a length 500 mm. The design shapes and dimension of screw conveyor are 3 screw with a diameter of 100 mm and a length of each screw is 156 mm, 160 mm and 156 mm. Cover on the design of the shape and dimension of screw conveyor U-shaped profile with a diameter of 120 mm and a length of 620 mm cover.

Abstract

This paper presents a design for the automatic control system of the threshing station model using PLC Zelio smart relay. Threshing station is a station where a process of separation palm kernel from the bunch by way of slamming into a rotating drum. The threshing station model is a shape which resembles of the threshing station palm oil mill of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara V- PKS Sei Galuh, it has been scaled 1:8. PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is a microprocessor based on instrument that can be programmed to control the machining process automatically. This system design has 2 inputs and 3 outputs. The inputs are push button to turn on and turn off of the works system and a rotary encoder sensor to detect rotating screw conveyor. The outputs are 3 units of DC motors. The programming language is used the ladder diagram by using the Software Zelio Soft 2. This system includes design of ladder diagram program, design of control system on auto feeder and design of rotary encoder sensor. The result of this design is revealed that auto feeder runs automatically turn on for 60 seconds and turn off for 30 seconds, continuously. The sensor works with voltage is 4.4 Volt at the moment un-stunted and 0.1 Volt when the stunted.
