Abstract

This research aims to explore the causes, impacts and solutions related to spelling errors in written messages in more depth. With the advancement of technology, spelling mistakes can occur both unintentionally and intentionally, influenced by factors such as technological features, user habits, and social context. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method because this approach allows researchers to explore the phenomenon of spelling mistakes in written messages in depth and contextually. The results show that spelling errors are often caused by inaccurate autocorrect features, small keyboard size, and time pressure when sending messages. In formal contexts, spelling errors can lower the credibility of the message sender and cause confusion in comprehension. To reduce such errors, this study recommends the development of smarter autocorrect systems and digital literacy education to improve the quality of communication.

Abstract

The ability to speak is a vital aspect of human life, involving the interplay between cognitive processes and the function of speech organs, such as the vocal cords, tongue, teeth, lips, and oral cavity. The articulation process enables humans to produce intelligible sounds for effective communication. This study aims to explore the anatomical, physiological, and phonetic roles of speech organs in generating, varying, and comprehending language sounds, particularly in the context of foreign language learning. A qualitative descriptive approach was adopted, with data gathered through interviews, literature reviews, and document analysis. The study provides an in-depth understanding of the connection between speech organ use and linguistic phenomena such as phonological structures, dialects, accents, and variations. Furthermore, it examines the significance of speech organs in phonetics and phonology learning for both native and second-language learners. The findings contribute to theoretical and applied linguistic studies, especially in phonetic, phonological, and language education analysis.

Abstract

The Indonesian language cannot be ignored. Correct spelling not only affects someone's first impression of our writing but can also influence the reader's understanding and interpretation of the content. Therefore, understanding and mastering Indonesian spelling well is very important. That focus on promoting cultural awareness and understanding within the team can help mitigate these challenges (Carla, 2001). There are several methods that can be implemented to improve students'' spelling skills. One effective approach is to incorporate regular spelling practice into the curriculum The paper emphasizes the importance of recognizing the diverse needs of students in writing instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze common errors of English language learners in pronouncing vowel sounds. This study was conducted on grade 11 IPA 2 and IPS Al Wasliyah students using a qualitative approach with in-depth interview methods and direct observation in the classroom. The results showed that difficulties in pronouncing vowel sounds were caused by linguistic interference from the mother tongue, lack of speaking practice, and less interactive learning methods. The vowel sounds most often mispronounced by students include /ɛ/, /ʊ/, /æ/, /i:/, /ɪ/, /ʌ/, and /ə/. Direct practice-based learning methods, the use of audiovisual media, and a supportive classroom environment have proven effective in improving students' pronunciation skills. In addition, positive acceptance of feedback and students' initiatives in correcting pronunciation errors also support the learning process. This study recommends the implementation of more interactive learning strategies, such as group discussions, roleplay, and the use of speech recognition technology to help students overcome vowel pronunciation difficulties and increase their confidence in communicating in English.

Abstract

Phonological awareness, defined as the ability to recognize and manipulate the sounds of language, has been widely recognized as a critical factor in early literacy development. This article aims to explore the influence of phonological awareness on the acquisition of reading and writing skills during the early stages of education. The research examines the relationship between phonological awareness and various aspects of literacy, including decoding, spelling, and reading comprehension. Numerous studies have demonstrated a strong correlation between phonological awareness and early literacy outcomes. Children with well-developed phonological awareness skills exhibit better phonemic awareness, word recognition, and reading comprehension abilities. Conversely, deficits in phonological awareness often manifest as difficulties in decoding words, spelling, and overall reading proficiency. The article further investigates the instructional strategies and interventions that can enhance phonological awareness in young learners. Effective techniques, such as phonemic awareness exercises, explicit instruction, and multisensory approaches, are discussed. Additionally, the article highlights the significance of early identification and intervention for children at risk of phonological awareness difficulties. Understanding the impact of phonological awareness on early literacy development is crucial for educators, parents, and policymakers. By recognizing the importance of phonological awareness and implementing appropriate instructional practices, it is possible to foster strong foundations for reading and writing skills, ultimately supporting children's overall literacy achievement.

Abstract

This article discusses phonology and syllables in the context of language. Phonology is a branch of linguistics that studies the sounds in language and the way they are organized, whereas syllables are the basic units in spoken language that form the basic structure of words. In this article, we explore the phonological words and syllable analysis, and the importance of understanding these concepts. In the phonological world, sounds in a language are categorized based on phonological characteristics such as voicing, place and manner of pronunciation, and others. This helps us understand how sounds are organized and combined in language to form meaningful meanings. In addition, the study of phonological worlds helps identify similarities and differences between languages ??and understand the basic structure of sounds in a given language. The syllable, as the core unit in spoken language, consists of the onset, nucleus, and coda. Syllable analysis helps us understand patterns and rules in the formation of words as well as the rhythm and phonotactics of language. In syllable analysis, we separate words into syllables and study the common syllable structures in that language. An understanding of syllables also has practical implications in language learning, speech therapy, and teaching language skills. Phonological and syllable analysis methods involve identifying the sounds of a language, analyzing syllable structures, and a comparative approach to comparison with other languages. Understanding these concepts is important in gaining a broader understanding of sound systems in language and how they affect human communication. Thus, this article illustrates the importance of phonological and syllable studies in understanding language structure, highlights the analytical methods used, and demonstrates implications and practical application of this knowledge in the context of language learning, speech therapy, and teaching language skills.

Abstract

This research aimed to explore how students perceive the use of phonology-based instruction to enhance English speaking fluency. The study was done through the qualitative method using a Google form to collect the data. The results show that 40% of respondents responded with a neutral opinion, 20% of respondents agreed, 20% strongly agreed, 13.3% disagreed and 6.7% strongly disagreed. The results also show that most of the respondents agreed that understanding phonology is important in developing English-speaking skills. However, there is still a lack of confidence in speaking English with the use of phonology-based instruction. According to the results, it is evident that phonology-based instruction can assist in improving English speaking fluency. Suggestions were given in terms of having more resources to support using phonology-based instruction and having teachers assist learners in grasping the concept of phonology more easily.
