Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted food security and the biological vulnerability of farming households, especially in rural areas heavily dependent on agriculture. This study aims to analyze the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the food security of farming households in Pringgasela District, East Lombok, and its relation to the biological vulnerability of farmer families. A descriptive quantitative and qualitative method was used, with data collection techniques including interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The study sample consisted of 30 farming households directly affected by the pandemic. The results show that the pandemic disrupted food availability (73.33% of respondents) and access to food (86.67% of respondents) due to social restrictions and distribution disruptions. The majority of respondents (90%) reported food shortages and difficulties in meeting nutritional needs. Socio-economic factors such as low income, low education, and dependence on small-scale farming exacerbated vulnerability to malnutrition and health issues. Major challenges included decreased food production, limited access to quality food, and food price instability. These findings highlight the importance of interventions in the form of social and economic support to improve food security and enhance the quality of life for farming households during a crisis.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aimed to map the level of health literacy related to anemia among postpartum mothers at the Bangetayu Community Health Center, Genuk District, Semarang City, focusing on mothers’ knowledge, understanding, and awareness of anemia prevention and management during the postpartum period. Methodology: A descriptive quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 30 postpartum mothers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire consisting of 28 items assessing knowledge of postpartum anemia. Univariate data analysis was performed using SPSS version 21 to generate frequency distributions and percentages. Main Findings: The results showed that most postpartum mothers had a sufficient level of knowledge regarding anemia (76.7%), while 16.7% had good knowledge and 6.7% had poor knowledge. Respondents generally understood the definition, causes, and symptoms of anemia; however, misconceptions persisted regarding iron supplementation duration, nutritional sources of iron, and the long-term impact of anemia on maternal health. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides a structured health literacy mapping of postpartum mothers related to anemia at the primary healthcare level, which has rarely been explored in previous studies. The findings offer practical evidence to support the development of targeted, context-based health education interventions to improve postpartum anemia prevention and maternal health outcomes.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study investigates how elementary school principals in urban and rural settings develop future-ready leadership through integrating behavioral and managerial design change dimensions within an edification-based framework to address digital transformation challenges in Indonesian elementary education. Methodology: A mixed exploratory qualitative design with component analysis was employed, using structured observations and interviews with contrasting questions. Ten elementary school principals from Bandung City and West Bandung Regency were selected via purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using ATLAS.ti software through systematic thematic coding of non-numerical textual data. Main Findings: Urban schools in Bandung City demonstrated higher digital adaptability, innovative supervision, and active professional development supported by adequate infrastructure and collaborative culture. Rural schools in West Bandung Regency exhibited conventional leadership patterns constrained by limited technology access. Two integrated leadership stages emerged: Behavior Design Change (digital leadership, open-mindedness, efficacy, foresight) and Managerial Design Change (network, digital organization, transition management, digital transformation, innovation strategy). Novelty/Originality of this study: This study introduces an edification-based leadership development framework integrating behavioral and managerial design change dimensions specifically for elementary school principals. It advances existing knowledge by providing empirical evidence of urban–rural digital leadership disparities in Indonesia and offering a contextualized, culturally-responsive model for developing future-ready school leaders.

Abstract

Ferns (Pteridophyta) are spore-reproducing vascular plants important in tropical forest ecosystems, and Indonesia is a global center of their diversity with over 2,000 species. However, fern diversity in North Maluku is still poorly documented. This study aimed to analyze the species composition and diversity of ferns as well as their implications for environmental sustainability in Fogi Village, Sanana District, Sula Islands Regency. The study was conducted across four habitat types: home garden, residential, riverbank, and mixed plantation, using purposive sampling with line transects of 1 km length and 10 m width. Data analysis included the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), Margalef species richness index (Dmg), and species evenness index (E), complemented by a descriptive-ecological assessment to discuss implications for the sustainability of the local ecosystem. A total of 10 fern species were recorded comprising 229 individuals. The dominant species across habitat types were Pteris tripartita in home garden habitat (9 individuals) and Selaginella sp. in residential (15), riverbank (12), and mixed plantation (17) habitats. The residential habitat recorded the highest values of species diversity (H') and species richness (Dmg) compared to other habitat types. Species evenness (E) approached 1 across all habitats, indicating a relatively balanced distribution of fern species. Ecologically, the Fogi Village area retains potential to sustain its ecosystem functions; however, the low species richness recorded across all habitat types warrants attention in efforts toward sustainable environmental management of the area. In conclusion, the fern community at the research site shows a moderate level of diversity with a relatively even distribution of species across various habitat types. The high uniformity in all habitats indicates the absence of extreme dominance by a single species.

Abstract

The advancement of modern education requires the implementation of innovative, creative, and adaptive learning systems through the use of graphic-based instructional media in curriculum development. Conventional teaching methods often lead to low student participation, learning boredom, and difficulties in understanding abstract concepts due to limited visual support. This study aims to analyze the influence of graphic-based learning media on curriculum development, learning motivation, and students’ creativity. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through literature review, observation, and analysis of educational sources related to visual media and modern curriculum development. The findings indicate that graphic media, including images, diagrams, illustrations, and infographics, contribute to improving conceptual understanding, learning concentration, critical thinking skills, and interactive learning communication. The integration of graphic media also supports student-centered learning practices. However, its effectiveness is constrained by technological limitations, teachers’ competencies in designing visual media, and differences in students’ learning characteristics.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the implementation of an effective servant leadership model for primary school principals with a focus on the implementation of the servant leadership model at SDN 007 Pangkalan Kerinci. This model has great significance in efforts to improve the quality of school principals, which will have a positive impact on the quality of basic education. Based on the results of the national principal competency test, it appears that the competency of primary school principals shows the lowest results compared to principals at the junior secondary and senior secondary levels. This research applies the case study method to analyze the behavior of individuals, particularly school principals. The key informant in this study is the principal. The collection method was through interviews, observations, and documentation. Qualitative data analysis was conducted using the Miles dan Huberman model. The implementation of the servant leadership model at SDN 007 Pangkalan Kerinci shows that this approach can create a better educational environment and improved student welfare. Through active involvement of all stakeholders, innovative programs and strong support for new teachers, the principal succeeded in building a collaborative atmosphere that supports student and teacher development.

Abstract

The application of religious moderation values in high schools remains suboptimal, as evidenced by the inconsistency between classroom instruction and students’ daily behavior. Many students continue to display intolerance, disrespectful speech, a lack of appreciation for diversity, and low participation in religious and social activities. This study aims to examine how religious moderation policies are implemented in high schools and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. Using a qualitative approach with the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method based on PRISMA guidelines, data were collected from Google Scholar (2020–2024) using the keywords “religious moderation” and “high school.” Out of 5,990 articles, 21 were selected for analysis. The findings reveal that Islamic Religious Education (PAI), extracurricular activities, school culture, and interfaith approaches contribute to the implementation of religious moderation. Teacher commitment, national policies, and an inclusive school environment serve as supporting factors, while lack of parental support, negative influence of social media, and low student motivation act as barriers. Education plays a crucial role in fostering awareness and care for the school environment, creating a peaceful and just atmosphere by instilling values of tolerance, cooperation, and social responsibility in students’ daily lives.
