Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has implications for its massive use in the field of education. Expectations for teachers to integrate technology into their learning practices and professional development are increasing. The teacher’s ability to integrate technology in these two activities is influenced by various factors. However, previous research has not focused on uncovering how gender, experience, certification status, and social media can contribute to information and communication technology (ICT)-based learning practices and professional competency development for teachers. Based on this gap, this research was designed to investigate the contribution of gender, experience, certification status, and social media access to teachers’ ICT-based learning practices and professional competency development. The current research was designed as a cross-sectional survey. A total of 1,756 elementary school teachers in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, were involved as research samples through online questionnaire data collection. The research results showed that there were differences in teachers’ learning practices and professional development intentions based on work experience and intensity of social media access. However, no differences were found in gender variables and certification status. Thus, these two variables become key elements in integrating ICT in learning in the future. These findings will be beneficial for teacher training institutions and policy makers.

Abstract

Abstract

The induction stove transition program in Sandik Village, Batulayar District, West Lombok Regency, was initiated to support the government's push for more efficient and eco-friendly energy use. Despite the benefits of induction stoves-such as energy efficiency, safety, and environmental advantages-LPG remains the dominant cooking fuel due to limited public awareness. The program involved education, practical demonstrations, and efficiency comparisons between induction and gas stoves, while also identifying challenges like limited household electricity and entrenched cooking habits. Evaluation results show improved community understanding and operational skills, along with increased awareness of clean energy transitions. This initiative strengthens the community’s readiness to adopt induction stoves and offers a replicable model to support sustainable energy policies in other regions.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) describe the vocabulary use of children with Down Syndrome in communicating at SLB Negeri 1 Makassar; and 2) analyze the factors that influence the use of the vocabulary. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and interviews with two students with Down Syndrome, as well as a teacher at SLB Negeri 1 Makassar. The results show that the vocabulary used by students is dominated by simple nouns related to daily needs, such as books, shoes, and piggy banks. In addition, the initial use of verbs, adjectives, and question words is beginning to appear. Basic vocabulary is the most frequently used form, but the use of affixed and compound vocabulary is also found, although the pronunciation is not yet perfect. Factors that influence children's vocabulary development include age, education, social environment, media and technology, personal experiences, and culture. Older children who receive specific intervention or therapy show a wider variety of vocabulary. The findings of this study are significant for education and speech therapy, particularly in designing language learning strategies tailored to the needs of children with Down syndrome. These findings provide a concrete picture of the forms and patterns of vocabulary acquisition in children with special needs, thus providing a basis for developing more adaptive, communicative learning methods that focus on the individual child's potential.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning outcomes of 10th-grade DPB students at SMK Negeri 1 Soppeng before and after implementing the project-based learning model (PjBL), and to determine its effect on students' speaking skills. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The sample consisted of 21 students selected from a population of 41 students. Data collection was conducted through presentation tests, which were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that the average pre-test score was 43 (low category), while the average post-test score increased to 78 (high category). The t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, indicating a significant effect of project-based learning on students' speaking skills. These findings indicate that the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model is effective when implemented in vocational learning contexts to actively and meaningfully improve students' speaking skills.
