Abstract

Islamization in Java during the 15th-16th centuries AD proceeded peacefully without warfare. Ja'far Shadiq, popularly known as Sunan Kudus, was a wali who contributed significantly to the spread of Islam in Java in the 16th century AD. Sunan Kudus issued a fatwa to the people of Kudus at that time, prohibiting the slaughter of cows. This fatwa seemed contrary to Islamic teachings, which permitted the slaughter of cows for consumption or religious sacrifice. Interestingly, this fatwa is still practiced by the people of Kudus today. Nowadays, some Muslims, especially textualists, question this prohibition because it is considered inconsistent with Islamic teachings. This article aims to reassess the true intention behind the fatwa so that all parties can address it wisely. This study uses qualitative methods by collecting field and written data from books and journals. This research concludes that the fatwa prohibiting the slaughter of cows by Sunan Kudus cannot be separated from the social, religious, and cultural context of its time. Second, it was part of a tolerant da'wah strategy he implemented to continue the process of Islamization. Third, the prohibition was a form of respect for the traditions and beliefs of other religions, not an absolute and permanent legal ban, thus allowing for the slaughter of cows at the right time and place. The results of this study can contribute to efforts to reaffirm that respecting local traditions is a critical point to strengthen the paradigm of religious moderation.

Abstract

The current globalization has led Indonesian society to distort the nation’s character education. In fact, character education is a very important foundation of the nation and needs to be instilled early in chiidren, as well as in adolescents who are stepping into adulthood. The current changing conditions encourage students to have high and strong religiosity. With a strong religiosity, students can become a strong person who is not easily swayed by changing times. The Dzikir and Sholawat assembly at UNISBA , apart from being a medium for Dzikir and a medium for student character devalopment, is expected to be a medium for strengthening the religious character of students. The difference in attitude between students shows the difference between those who follow regularly and those who never follow at all. Therefore, one of the Applications is throught religious character building throught the Dzikir and Sholawat assembly for Students at UNISBA Blitar. A greet nation does not only rely on natural resources, but must also be supported by human resources that have a strong characte. Human resources will contribute to realizing the dignity of the nation. Globalization that is sweeping the nation today encourages people to have poor character. The impact of globalization with a relatively fast time causes culture to change completely. In the above case, character becomes very important in fortifying the nation’s generation to have a good personality. So that research on the formation of religious character in the nation’s next generation more narrowly in students is seen as very critical to be studied and researched compreshensively. This research will try to find the formation of religious character through the Dzikir and Sholawat assembly of UNISBA Blitar. This research uses a case type skinative approach. Data analysis using Kut Lewi’s 3-step theory.

Abstract

Shell and tube heat exchanger (STHeX) design development continues to be carried out to increase the effectiveness of a system. One way is to investigate the optimal baffle design. The new structure of STHeX with Inclined-Segmental Baffles is further investigated. The experiment was carried out using the numerical method Computing Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software with three-dimensional modeling. The results show that the heat change coefficient value is lower than conventional STHeX, However, the pressure drop value is reduced quite significantly. Therefore, it is necessary to know the overall heat transfer coefficient value per pressure loss (U/DeltaP). Hence, we get U/DeltaP values of 0.9 and 0.68 for STHeX with Inclined-Segmental Baffle and conventional STHeX, respectively. Thus, there is a significant increase ranging from 37-34%. It is concluded that STHeX with Inclined-Segmental baffles increases the U/DeltaP value significantly compared to conventional STHeX.

Abstract

The influence of water depth, microstructure, chemical composition, welding defects, and mechanical properties affect underwater welding. In addition, the determination of electrodes for underwater welding requires unique properties, including being able to cause arcing and slag to grow on the surface of metal deposits which can protect against the effects of oxides and low hydrogen solubility. The electrodes must meet the AWS D3.6M underwater welding specification standard. In this study, the steel plate material used in AH-36 and implemented for underwater wet welding by comparing two electrodes, namely E6013 with additional Mg modifications and Broco E70XX electrodes specifically for underwater wet welding, the other Mg on E6013 rutile electrodes with modification 1 ( 3% Mg) and Modification 2 (5% Mg). The welding method with a heat input of 1.5 kJ/mm with 130 A and 2.5 kJ/mm with 140 A is carried out at 5m. The radiographic test results showed that the welded specimens at a depth of 5m showed imperfect penetration defects. It may be due to the effect of significant pressure and higher cooling rate that the weld melt cannot penetrate completely into the parent material. The tensile test results also showed an insignificant increase in the strength of the underwater welding, and the elongation was quite significant. Occurs at the E6013 electrode with modification 1 (3% Mg) and Modification 2 (5% Mg). The increase is not too significant. Penetration is not perfect. Due to significant pressure and a higher cooling rate, the molten weld cannot penetrate completely into the parent material. However, for testing the Broco E70XX electrode where there is no change in microstructure, such as electrodes modified with magnesium where only grain growth occurs, and there is Spheroidite which makes the microstructure related to mechanical properties, namely ductile.

Abstract

This study used an experimental method by directly observing the object under study. The independent variables in this study include the geometry of the flame holder on the meso-scale combustor, airflow, and fuel discharge. The research data were analyzed and displayed in graphical form as well as flame visualization. This research concludes that combustion using a flame holder circle has a more stable and even flame compared to a flame holder concentric ring and backward facing step. The shape of the Flame holder circle also produces a higher flame temperature. The results of this study contribute to the development of MPG based on micro combustion with a better understanding of the interaction between flame holders, reactant velocities and equivalent ratios in achieving stable and efficient combustion in meso-scale combustors. This research can provide important input for the development of high-efficiency micro-combustion-based power generation technology in the future.

Abstract

The most common type of liver cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), accounting for 75–85% of cases. Despite its associated side effects, sorafenib remains the standard treatment for HCC. Given the critical need to improve therapeutic efficacy while minimizing adverse effects, alternative drugs must be thoroughly investigated. Numerous studies indicate that combining sorafenib with metformin results in a more favorable treatment profile. The aim of this study was to employ bioinformatics methodologies to elucidate the molecular pathways and genetic underpinnings of metformin's efficacy in HCC treatment. Genes associated with metformin and its action against HCC (Huh-7 and HepG2 cells) were acquired from the NCBI-GEO data collection by utilizing pre-determined keywords. Subsequently, pathways implicated in metformin-mediated HCC treatment were analyzed through the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG). Our analysis revealed the involvement of multiple pathways, with metabolic pathways implicated in 80% of the total cases. Neurodegenerative pathways were involved in only around 60% of the total cases. These findings align with the multifaceted mechanisms of metformin’s action, encompassing adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase activation, apoptosis induction, insulin regulation, anti-inflammatory responses, and modulation of cell proliferation. This comprehensive investigation sheds light on the intricate molecular landscape underpinning metformin's therapeutic efficacy in HCC, thereby informing potential avenues for optimizing treatment strategies.
