Abstract

In response to global challenges, education systems must develop high-quality human resources capable of competing internationally. Total Quality Management (TQM) is proposed as a strategic approach to improve educational outcomes, particularly in Vocational High Schools (SMK). This qualitative study employed a case study method involving three informants: a school principal, a teacher, and an administrative staff member. Data were gathered through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion-drawing techniques. The findings indicate that TQM implementation contributes to enhancing education quality in vocational schools. The evaluation focused on three key indicators: leadership management, teacher performance, and school administration. Leadership and teacher management were found to be well-executed, particularly in teaching and learning activities. However, administrative functions were only categorized as adequate, highlighting the need for improvement in this area. The application of TQM demonstrates positive impacts on school management and instructional practices. While leadership and teaching practices align with quality standards, administrative processes require further development to support comprehensive school improvement. TQM can effectively enhance educational quality in vocational high schools, but successful implementation depends on strengthening administrative management alongside instructional and leadership practices.

Abstract

The 21st Century demands innovative educational models that incorporate technological advances to support research and teaching. This study examines the need to develop a research-based history learning model using the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework (RBL-TPACK) to enhance history education. The research adopts a Research and Development (RD) approach, focusing on the analysis stage. Participants include 27 history lecturers and 107 students. Data collection involved observations, interviews, and questionnaires, with qualitative analysis used to assess the necessity of RBL-TPACK in history education. Findings indicate that research-based learning (RBL) is crucial for supporting lecturers' tridharma responsibilities and enriching local history education. However, the integration of RBL into lecture content and outputs remains suboptimal. Students demonstrated a strong preference for incorporating lecturers' research outputs into learning materials. The integration of digital tools via the TPACK framework offers a promising approach, enhancing theoretical and practical learning dynamics. The study highlights the potential of RBL-TPACK to foster historical thinking skills and enrich learning experiences. Despite its importance, gaps in integrating RBL and digital tools into teaching practices persist. Addressing these gaps through a structured RBL-TPACK model can better meet the demands of modern history education. Developing an effective and contextually relevant RBL-TPACK model is vital to advancing history education and addressing the challenges of 21st-century learning. This foundational analysis underscores the need for further development and implementation of this innovative approach.

Abstract

History learning at SMAN 1 Peranap is still dominated by lecture methods, resulting in low student learning motivation reflected in their minimal participation and attention. This condition encourages the need for the implementation of interactive and visual learning models. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Picture and Picture model based on Jigsaw Puzzle in increasing the learning motivation of class X students through the Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach of the Kemmis and Mc Taggart model. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations, then analyzed descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the study showed an increase in learning motivation from an average of 62.9 in cycle I to 78.72 in cycle II, so it can be concluded that this model is effective in increasing student learning motivation in history learning.

Abstract

Deep learning-based learning is an approach that emphasizes in-depth understanding, interrelation between concepts, and critical and reflective thinking skills in the learning process. This approach is in line with the spirit of an independent curriculum that encourages meaningful and student-centered learning. The presence of learning tools that are systematically designed and based on deep learning approaches in the learning process can increase student engagement and understanding in depth. The use of appropriate learning tools not only helps teachers in delivering material effectively, but also encourages students to think critically, reflectively, and actively engage in the learning process. This Workshop is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the concept of deep learning-based learning, which is a learning model that not only focuses on basic knowledge aspects, but also encourages learners to analyze, evaluate, create, and reflect on contextual learning. The method used in this community service project was implemented in Pekanbaru City, involving 50 history teachers who are members of the History MGMP. The community service activity was divided into three phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The materials presented include: concepts and basic principles of Deep Learning in basic education, strategies to design learning outcomes that encourage deep thinking, the preparation of teaching modules that integrate the values of Pancasila student profiles, and the practice of preparing lesson plans and formative assessments based on deep learning.

Abstract

positivism, Islamic epistemology, pedagogical assessment, and teacher performance within Indonesia's contemporary educational landscape. Drawing on a thorough philosophical analysis of positivism—from its foundational principles established by Auguste Comte to its modern interpretations and critiques—this study integrates these perspectives with the rich intellectual tradition of Islamic epistemology. By synthesizing these frameworks alongside empirical evidence from Indonesia, the paper offers a more comprehensive and contextually authentic understanding. It examines how positivist approaches have influenced pedagogical assessment methodologies while also considering how Islamic principles, embedded within the national philosophy of Pancasila and local values, provide a critical alternative and complement. Furthermore, the study assesses the implications of these intertwined approaches for fostering Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) as redefined within an Islamic framework. Through a synthesis of theoretical frameworks and empirical findings, this paper aims to provide insights into optimizing teacher performance assessment to promote a more holistic, effective, and values-based educational system in Indonesia. Visual elements—including a diagram illustrating the conceptual framework, an image depicting an Indonesian classroom, and a comparative table of paradigms—are incorporated to enhance understanding and offer a multifaceted perspective
