Abstract

This study aims to explore psychological theories related to philanthropy and its potential development in Indonesia. Philanthropy is a unique human behavior in giving and has attracted the attention of researchers in psychology, economics, sociology, anthropology, and religious studies. This study employs a comprehensive literature review method to analyze a wide range of relevant sources. It identifies the application of psychological theories such as empathy, altruism, social piety, meaningful life, and prosocial behavior, which have been utilized in various philanthropic studies. The potential direction for further development lies in philanthropic research from an Indigenous or Indonesian Philanthropy perspective, as such studies would be deeply rooted in local culture and traditional values inherent in Indonesia.

Abstract

The function of vehicles in society has shifted beyond mere transportation to becoming symbols of social status and lifestyle. This transformation has driven automotive manufacturers to continuously compete in developing advanced technologies, resulting in rapid technological progress in modern vehicles. Such developments present a challenge for vocational education institutions, particularly automotive-based vocational high schools (SMK), to align their learning processes with current industry standards. One effective solution is the development of an Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system simulator as a learning medium. The assembly of the EFI simulator involves several stages. First, sensors and actuators that no longer function optimally are collected from nearby automotive workshops. These components are then reconditioned through cleaning, reconnecting, or replacing damaged parts. Second, ECU system components are gathered, assembled, and tested to ensure proper functionality. Third, the EFI system framework is constructed, followed by performance testing of the entire system. Finally, additional supporting components are installed to optimize simulator performance. This simulator enables various practical learning activities, including checking fuel pump pressure, observing injector spray patterns, testing spark plug ignition, evaluating sensor performance, and practicing EFI circuit assembly. Notably, most components used in this simulator are derived from workshop waste and recycled materials, supporting sustainable and cost-effective educational innovation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Shopee PayLater usage on students’ purchasing decisions and to examine the role of marketplace promotions as a moderating variable. This research employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research method. The sample consists of 61 respondents selected from a population of 159 students of the Faculty of Economics at Gunung Rinjani University using the Slovin formula. Data were collected through a questionnaire using a Likert scale and analyzed using multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results indicate that Shopee PayLater usage has a positive effect on students’ purchasing decisions. Marketplace promotions are also found to have a direct positive effect on purchasing decisions. However, the interaction test results show that marketplace promotions do not act as a moderating variable in the relationship between Shopee PayLater usage and students’ purchasing decisions. These findings suggest that although digital payment convenience and promotions both influence purchasing decisions, they operate independently and do not strengthen each other through interaction effects.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the phenomenon of gratitude in private university students who study while working. The qualitative approach used in this study is a phenomenological model. Participants consisted of 4 students studying while working part time and odd jobs. These students expressed their motivation to study while working because of economic demands, looking for experience, to fill their free time and ease the burden on their parents in tuition fees. Participants in this study experienced various obstacles in carrying out activities between college and work so that the coping responses or lifestyle carried out by college students while working were: a) choosing a priority scale, b) dividing study and work time, c) communicating effectively, d ) build friendships, e) maintain health and f) have feelings of shame if they are not able to meet the standards that have been set. Studying while working turns out to lead to positive emotions of gratitude which is a source of strength for them, which can be explained as a result of this study as follows: a) accepting gifts (students get dispensation from the workplace, lecturers, and fellow students), b) realizing the value of gifts (students feel proud because they are more economically independent and ashamed to trouble their parents, c) respect the intention of the giver (trying to finish college and trying to get a bachelor's degree on time as a form of gratitude to Allah for all the life experiences lived and appreciating the gifts of the people around him both materially and immaterial). In addition, these students can feel the benefits of gratitude, including avoiding feelings of envy, hate, anger or greed and feeling happiness through this gratitude experience.

Abstract

Consumptive behavior in purchasing makeup products has become a lifestyle among female students. Makeup products are attached to women because basically women are creatures that are synonymous with beauty. This is what causes women to like to buy cosmetic products with a plan or without a plan. One component of patience is self-control, namely being able to restrain desires and emotions, think long-term, forgive and have tolerance. This research was conducted in order to find out whether or not there is a relationship between patience and consumptive behavior towards makeup products in Riau Islamic University female students. The study population was 743 female students, with a total sample of 260 active semester psychology students at the Islamic University of Riau, which were determined using the accidental sampling technique. The data collection method uses a modified patience scale from Kencana and a modified consumptive behavior scale by Nafli. In this data were analyzed using the Spearman Rho method with a correlation coefficient of -0.099 and a significance value of 0.113 (p > 0.05). This clarifies the rejected hypothesis so that there is no relationship between patience and consumptive behavior towards makeup products of psychology students at Islamic University of Riau.
