Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic is now beginning to spread to the world of education. The Ministry of Education and Culture (MOEC) is currently based on official information, ready with all scenarios, including encouraging online learning for students. This article is a kind of position paper—it clearances one side of a debatable opinion about a hot issue. The aim of a position paper is to persuade the reader that our opinion is valid and defensible. In regards to our position as researchers, then, the point of view is separated into four parts: The philosophy of “Merdeka Belajar”, physical distancing, social distancing and self-quarantine, digital learning in Indonesia to face Covid-19, ‘Merdeka Belajar’, digital learning, Covid-19, and authors’ view.

Abstract

The taste of coffee is not only influenced by the type of coffee but also by the brewing methods. The phenomenon of brewing coffee is an interesting scientific phenomenon that can be used as a Socio-scientific Issues (SSI) theme. SSI are social issues that exist in society, contain the basis of science, and in their resolution trigger dialogue, discussion and debate. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of science literacy as an impact of SSI exploration on the phenomenon of coffee brewing methods. This research uses qualitative methods and is conducted at SK Coffee Lab Kediri with baristas as the source of information. Interviews are arranged based on indicators of science literacy with four main components, knowledge of science, the investigation nature of science, science as a way of thinking, and the interaction of science, technology, and society. Based on this research, the results were obtained that baristas at SK Coffee Lab have a sufficient level of physics science literacy with a percentage of 70%. While the descriptions of each indicator are as follows: the indicator of knowledge of science scored 75% with good criteria, the indicator of the investigation nature of science scored 75% with good criteria, on the indicator of science as a way of thinking scored 80% with good criteria and on indicators of the interaction of science, technology and society scored 80% with good criteria.

Abstract

Learning about electromagnetic induction in physics calls for a deeper comprehension of abstract ideas and ways of thinking. This article is part of a development research project on augmented reality-based learning materials focused on electromagnetic induction. Its goal is to assess the reliability and efficacy of augmented reality-based learning materials with a particular emphasis on the cognitive learning outcomes of students. The 4-D development model "Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate" is used in the study. (1) It is extremely practical to apply learning media based on augmented reality electromagnetic induction subject matter. (2) As a result of trials carried out based on the outcomes of a mean N gain of 0.76, the cognitive learning outcomes of students improved. The independent t-test findings revealed a significant relationship between the two variables, with a significant 2 tails of 0.000 (3). Student replies revealed that the learning medium are extremely practicable to use, with an average percentage value of 87%. Thus, it is advised to use augmented reality-based learning media for physics ideas that call for high levels of knowledge and abstract thought.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills have recently been intensified in learners at all levels of education. Learners are expected to have good critical thinking skills in order to face competition in the world of work. The research conducted was descriptive quantitative with the aim of classifying the critical thinking skills of students. The research subjects were students of class VIII Junior High School in Kediri Regency in the 2022/2023 academic year as many as 20 students. Data collection was conducted through interviews and critical thinking skills tests. The critical thinking skills test instrument includes 5 indicators consisting of 15 multiple choice test items. Analysis was carried out on the test results of students on each indicator and categorised into five critical thinking categories consisting of very high, high, medium, low, and very low. The results showed an average achievement score of 42.08%, interpretation ability 23.47%, analysis ability 50.21%, inference ability 62.31%, evaluation ability 41.10%, and explanation ability 33.33%. Based on these results, it is evident that students' critical thinking skills still need to be trained in order to be improved. Thus, teachers need to implement meaningful science learning in order to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Kloso is a type of local wisdom in the form of woven pandan leaves that can be used as a learning medium to make it easier for students to understand physics concepts. The author realizes that this research, especially the exploration of physics concepts in local wisdom, has limitations. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out activities to explore the concepts of physics and local wisdom in each process of making Kloso in. This study aims to explore and analyze the physics concepts contained in each stage of making Kloso. This research is a qualitative research using data triangulation methods: interview, observation, and literature studies. The results showed that there was a correlation between Kloso’s making stage and physics concept. The physics concepts contained in Kloso such as energy, momentum, parabolic motion, Newton's Laws, pressure, and heat changes. Thus, this local wisdom can be used as a medium of learning, especially in the field of physics, to increase the understanding of physics that is integrated into ethnoscience (Ethno-physics), a science that is actually implemented in every activity of daily life.

Abstract

The primary objective of this study is to comprehensively explore, identify, and visually represent the research landscape related to physics misconceptions over the past two decades. This encompasses research trends, authorship patterns, the most prolific institutions, countries of origin, profiles of top-cited articles, and key themes through favorable keywords. It can be known which physics materials are often studied in terms of misconceptions and efforts to identify them. To fulfill this objective, a meticulous bibliometric analysis was conducted on a dataset comprising 61 meticulously selected documents, screened using specific search queries. Data were extracted from the Scopus database and analyzed using VOSviewer software.  The analysis results show that the research trend of physics misconceptions has increased in recent years. Information on authors, institutions, subject areas, countries, and most influential documents was also analyzed in the study, along with the number of citations and article production. Of paramount significance (17 clusters and 297 items) is the revelation that research in the realm of physics misconceptions gravitates towards understanding the role of technology-mediated learning, brain processes, individual student characteristics, and assessment techniques can all contribute to a better understanding of misconceptions and how they can be effectively addressed in educational settings. In essence, the implications of this research extend beyond the realm of physics education, touching on teaching methodologies, curriculum design, educational policies, and the broader advancement of scientific literacy in Indonesia.

Abstract

The development of local wisdom from various sectors continues to increase yearly, especially in Indonesia. This study aims to find trends, topics, and contributions of local wisdom to the education sector. This research used quantitative research with bibliometrics and assisted with VoSViewer, Word Cloud, MS Excel, and MS Word software to analyze and visualize metadata results obtained from Scopus. The results of this study reveal trends in the development of local wisdom, with the top 100 cited from 2012 to 2021. Then, the topic of local wisdom is dominated by researchers from Indonesia. In addition, the contribution of local wisdom in education continues to grow along with the times, especially in physics education. Furthermore, it is hoped that there will be further research on local wisdom that can be used as a reference source for all things and preserve local wisdom and communities that still need to be held due to changing times. On the other hand, local wisdom can also be known with the slogan “Glocalization”.
