Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in teaching English in resource-constrained classrooms, with a focus on vocabulary development and cultural literacy. Using a multiple case study design with a qualitative approach, data was collected through semi-structured interviews with three lecturers at two educational institutions in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The findings show that the use of materials based on local wisdom, such as folklore and community history, significantly improves vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, and student motivation. In addition, CTL based on local contexts strengthens students' connections with teaching materials, enriches cultural literacy, and builds enthusiasm for learning. Despite resource limitations such as lack of access to technology and English language references, lecturers showed creativity in developing contextual teaching materials. This study contributes to filling the literature gap on local context-based language learning in a confined environment, as well as recommending the need for further research that expands population coverage and examines the long-term impact of the use of local materials in EFL teaching.

Abstract

This study examines the Jihad Resolution issued by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in response to the threat of a return to colonialism after the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence, focusing on its contribution to the Battle of November 10, 1945 in Surabaya. The Jihad Resolution, issued on October 22, 1945, became an important point in the mobilization of the people to defend independence. This research aims to analyze the historical background, content, and impact of the Jihad Resolution on the dynamics of physical struggle and the strengthening of the spirit of religion-based nationalism. The method used is qualitative with a historical approach. Data was collected through literature studies, analyses of archival documents, and review of related literature, including speeches, ulama fatwas, and historical testimonies. The analysis was carried out in a descriptive-analytical manner to understand the relationship between the religious dimension and the nation's struggle strategy. The results of the study show that the Jihad Resolution provides religious legitimacy to fight against the colonizers, so that it is able to unite various elements of society, both civilian and military, in the battle to defend Surabaya. In addition, this resolution shows the integration between Islamic values and nationalism, making the struggle to defend independence part of religious obligations.

Abstract

Information technology (IT) has become an indispensable component of the corporate landscape in the digital age, reshaping how organizations operate. The rapid development of IT has revolutionized traditional business methods, transforming them into more efficient, technology-driven operations. Companies and institutions worldwide increasingly focus on digitalization to integrate business processes, streamline workflows, and enhance productivity. XYZ University in Indonesia, as an educational institution, is not immune to this shift. To stay competitive and efficient, the university aims to implement fundamental principles of coordination and integration within its internal structure and with external partners. A central goal of XYZ University’s digital transformation efforts is to streamline its business processes and bolster its cybersecurity framework. These initiatives are critical to the university’s broader strategy of developing a robust Enterprise Architecture (EA). This research focuses on the Academic Directorate and addresses three fundamental domains: business processes, data and information management, and application systems. By concentrating on these areas, the research aims to develop an EA blueprint to provide a comprehensive framework for enhancing the university’s digital capabilities. This blueprint is intended to serve as a strategic solution for integrating information systems, ensuring smooth data flow across departments, and improving the overall efficiency of business processes within the institution. It will help XYZ University achieve its digital transformation goals in the long term, leading to better coordination, more robust security, and higher operational efficiency.

Abstract

Rubber plants are important crops in various countries. Rubber plants have many benefits for human life. Rubber plant diseases cause many losses to farmers. Lack of knowledge and information regarding the treatment of existing diseases is a factor that causes the decline in rubber latex productivity. Appropriate control is needed to overcome this problem. An expert system is one solution that can help farmers find out information about facts about rubber plant diseases. Expert systems are artificial intelligence sciences that can help provide solutions to problems faced by farmers as if they were consulting with experts. Therefore, a system was developed that can diagnose diseases in rubber plants using this method Forward Chaining and Dempster Shafer. Forward Chaining serves as a tool to draw conclusions from the information that has been established and Dempster Shafer to handle uncertainty in symptoms, so as to produce final conclusions. From 15 trial data, accuracy results were obtained at 93.33%. Thus method Forward Chaining and Dempster Shafer can be used to diagnose types of diseases in rubber plants because it has very good accuracy.

Abstract

The development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has made a major contribution to increasing efficiency and security in various fields. One of the growing applications is the use of IoT in gas leak detection to maintain a safe environment. This research aims to design an IoT-based gas leak detection tool using the MQ-2 sensor with a case study at a village office. The tool designed integrates the MQ-2 sensor to detect dangerous gases such as Liquified Petroleum Gas(LPJ), propane and methane, and uses a buzzer as a sound warning and Telegram as a communication platform to provide real-time notifications. A case study was conducted at the village office to test the effectiveness of the tool in detecting gas leaks and providing a fast response. The research results show that the gas leak detection tool developed is able to accurately detect dangerous gases and provide early warning via buzzer and Telegram. The integration of IoT in this tool provides an efficient solution in maintaining environmental security, especially in village office environments. This research is expected to contribute to the development of IoT-based gas leak detection technology and provide guidance for the use of similar tools in various environments. In addition, case studies in village offices provide examples of relevant implementation in the context of environmental safety in the workplace.

Abstract

Metabolic syndrome is a disease that is considered trivial and common in society. When sufferers feel the effects of the disease, it will make treatment and healing difficult. To detect this disease early, an expert system application with the forward chaining method is needed so that this application makes it easier to detect disease early. The method for developing this system uses the waterfall method. System analysis and design using UML. System testing uses a black box where system test results are received. Application user testing, using statistical tests with Beta testing with a 95% confidence level, the system can be accepted and trusted. Based on these results, this system can be a solution for early detection of metabolic syndrome.

Abstract

Advances in information technology have brought significant changes in various aspects of human life, including decision making. Making decisions by utilizing technology makes the decision-making process run more quickly and accurately. This research proposes the development of a decision support system to select prospective recipients of sports equipment effectively and fairly at the North Sumatra Youth and Sports Service, using the SMART (Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique) method which is used to determine the criteria and weight of the data, and the MOORA (Multi -Objective Optimization on the Basis of Ratio Analysis) is a multi-attribute decision making method that makes it easier to calculate alternative values which have more accurate and targeted results in helping decision making. The research stage involves observation, interviews, and literature study. 5 criteria were used in this research, including productivity, achievement, secretariat location, training program, and equipment requirements. Data on prospective recipients of sports equipment used for analysis was 10 data. Through the SMART and MOORA methods, the system gives the best ranking to the alternative that best meets the predetermined criteria. The ranking results show that the prospective recipient of sports equipment is Sahabat Muda Badmintoon with rank 1 with a score of 0.8 using the SMART method and a score of 0.044 using the MOORA method. The SMART and MOORA methods show the potential to be used as tools to help make decisions about receiving sports equipment more efficiently and fairly.
