Abstract

The low level of basic manipulative throwing and catching skills among elementary school students, especially those in grade 3, is a major problem in physical education learning. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of a systematic and enjoyable game-based learning model for basic manipulative skills. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) by adopting the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The research subjects consisted of 30 third-grade students at Tadika Puri Elementary School, East Jakarta. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers, and skill tests using standardized instruments. Data analysis was performed using a paired sample t-test statistical test. The research results produced a final product in the form of 30 variations of learning models (15 for throwing and 15 for catching) that have been validated by experts. The effectiveness test showed a very significant increase in throwing skills (from an average of 27.77 to 31.07) and catching skills (from 27.50 to 30.73) with a significance value of p < 0.001. In conclusion, the game-based manipulative basic movement learning model developed has been proven to be statistically and practically effective in improving students' motor skills, so it can be used as an alternative innovative PJOK learning model in elementary schools.

Abstract

Sales of tea powder experience significant fluctuations influenced by consumption trends, seasonal factors, and changes in market demand, which may lead to overstock and understock problems. These conditions highlight the need for an accurate and practical forecasting tool that can directly support managerial decision-making. This study aims to develop a web-based sales and revenue forecasting information system by integrating the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) method. The dataset consists of historical tea powder sales from May 2023 to March 2025, aggregated into monthly time series data. The research stages include data preprocessing, visualization, stationarity testing using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test, differencing, ARIMA model identification and parameter estimation, forecasting, and model evaluation using MAE, MSE, and MAPE. The evaluation results indicate that ARIMA(1,1,2) is the best-performing model, achieving an MAE of 4.07, an MSE of 3.15, and a MAPE of 147.34%. The forecasting results show fluctuating patterns in future sales and revenue. The main contribution of this research lies in the integration of the ARIMA forecasting model into a web-based information system that enables automatic and real-time prediction, providing practical support for inventory planning and data-driven managerial decision-making.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is an essential 21st-century competency; however, PISA reports indicate that Indonesian middle school students’ performance remains low. This gap highlights the urgency of implementing instructional strategies that promote meaningful contextual problem-solving. This study aims to examine the effect of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on students’ improvement in mathematical literacy in statistics, while accounting for their early mathematical abilities (EMA). This study used a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design involving 64 seventh-grade students from a junior high school in Bandung. Data were collected through pretest and posttest and analyzed using N-gain scores, a one-tailed independent t-test, and One-Way ANOVA. The results revealed that the mean N-gain of the PBL group was 0.4752 (moderate), higher than that of the direct instruction group at 0.2157 (low). The difference was statistically significant (Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). Based on EMA levels, the mean N-gain scores were 0.7989 (high) for high EMA, 0.4077 (moderate) for medium EMA, and 0.4486 (moderate) for low EMA students. ANOVA results indicated significant differences among EMA categories (Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). This finding suggests that PBL influences improvements in mathematical literacy and accounts for students' initial abilities.

Abstract

Critical reading is central to academic literacy in EFL higher education, yet many students struggle to engage strategically with complex academic texts. While prior research has examined reading strategies extensively, empirical attention has been limited to how perceived Difficulty and reading perceptions jointly relate to the use of critical reading strategies in Indonesian university contexts. This study adopted an explanatory sequential mixed-method design involving 32 Indonesian EFL undergraduate students. Quantitative data were collected using a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. The quantitative phase was followed by semi-structured interviews to explain and contextualize the statistical patterns. The findings indicate that students generally reported high levels of strategy use and positive perceptions of reading, while perceived Difficulty remained moderate. Correlation results showed that reading perception was moderately associated with strategy use, whereas perceived Difficulty demonstrated weak relationships. Although the regression model did not reach statistical significance, reading perception displayed a marginal predictive tendency, suggesting that students’ epistemic orientation toward reading may play a more meaningful role than perceived textual challenge in shaping strategic engagement. Qualitative findings further revealed that students conceptualize Difficulty as multidimensional, encompassing workload, time constraints, motivation, and contextual relevance, rather than merely linguistic complexity. This study suggests that fostering positive perceptions of reading may be more pedagogically impactful than focusing solely on reducing textual Difficulty. The findings contribute to theoretical discussions of the affective–cognitive dimensions of critical reading and offer practical implications for designing strategy-oriented instruction in EFL higher education.

Abstract

Chronic malnutrition and stunting among Indonesian schoolchildren significantly impair cognitive development, attendance, and academic performance. The Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) Program, launched in January 2025 under Indonesia's National Medium-Term Development Plan, addresses these challenges to support Sustainable Development Goal 4. This study examines implementation challenges and opportunities of the MBG program in improving basic education quality, emphasizing child well-being and gender equity. A qualitative systematic literature review analyzed policy documents and academic literature on school feeding interventions. Critical challenges include regulatory gaps, logistical inefficiencies, food safety concerns, suboptimal nutritional standards, administrative burdens, budget misallocation, weak inter-sectoral coordination, infrastructure deficits, limited capacity, and community resistance. However, significant opportunities exist: enhanced nutritional status, improved attendance and achievement, empowerment of local enterprises, and nutrition curriculum integration. The program holds substantial potential if addressed through comprehensive regulation, GPS-enabled management systems, rigorous monitoring, community engagement, and curriculum integration. Future research should employ longitudinal mixed-methods designs with international comparative frameworks to evaluate long-term effectiveness on child welfare and gender equity outcomes.

Abstract

Integrating local languages in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching has become a significant area of inquiry within Indonesia's multicultural educational landscape. This literature review explores the role and impact of local languages in supporting English language acquisition among Indonesian students. By examining fundamental studies and theoretical perspectives, this review addresses the challenges and benefits of incorporating local languages in EFL classrooms, including the potential for enhancing students' cultural identity, cognitive development, and linguistic skills. Findings from various studies highlight the pedagogical value of translanguaging and other multilingual approaches that leverage Local languages as a bridge for understanding English. However, the review also underscores obstacles such as lack of teacher training, limited resources, and institutional constraints. This study emphasizes the need for a more inclusive EFL curriculum that respects linguistic diversity and promotes sustainable language practices in Indonesia. Recommendations for future research are provided, focusing on effective strategies for balancing local and global language competencies within EFL pedagogy.
