Abstract

Education in Indonesia plays a strategic role in shaping students' character by strengthening religious and ethical foundations in the curriculum. This study aims to analyze the integration of religious and ethical values in the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly in terms of its objectives, content, and implementation in the context of arts education. The research method used literature study and policy analysis by examining academic sources and relevant education regulations. The results of the study show that the Merdeka Curriculum explicitly places the Pancasila Student Profile as the foundation for character building, with the dimensions of faith, devotion to God Almighty, and noble character as the main indicators. The integration of religious and ethical values is realized both through core subjects, such as Religious Education and Pancasila, and across disciplines through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). In arts education, these values are reflected through the use of local and religious-based artworks that contribute to strengthening students' moral awareness, ethics, and cultural identity. However, implementation in the field still faces challenges in the form of variations in teacher competence, differences in value interpretation, and limited supporting facilities. This study concludes that the integration of religious and ethical foundations in the Merdeka Curriculum plays an important role in shaping the character of students holistically, thus requiring a structured, contextual, and collaborative implementation strategy, especially in arts education.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of deep learning-based training in strengthening multicultural competence and awareness of radicalism among Indonesian school counselors. Employing a quasi-experimental mixed-method design, the study involved 17 guidance and counseling teachers from secondary schools in Garut Regency, West Java. The three-week intervention integrated Socratic dialogue, experiential simulation, and structured cultural reflection. Quantitative data were collected using a pretest-posttest Radicalism Attitude Inventory, while qualitative data were obtained from reflective portfolios, interviews, focus group discussions, and observations. The paired-sample t-test revealed statistically significant improvement in counselors' radicalism awareness (p = 0.015, Cohen's d = 0.657), driven primarily by substantial gains in detecting overt radicalism indicators (Revolutionary dimension: p = 0.001, d = 1.03). Qualitative findings demonstrated transformative professional development, including increased cultural self-awareness, enhanced empathetic and dialogic counseling skills, greater sensitivity to subtle forms of intolerance, and improved readiness to implement preventive strategies in school contexts. Overall, the findings indicate that deep learning-based training facilitates professional transformation through iterative reflection and experiential learning, supporting its integration into counselor professional development programs focused on multicultural practice and radicalism prevention. Abstract

This qualitative study explores the factors shaping high school students’ growth mindset from the perspective of educators in Surakarta, Indonesia, a novel approach in the local context. Utilising Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and narrative inquiry, data were collected from 18 school counsellors and 6 Principals/Vice Principals across public and private high schools. Thematic analysis, supported by NVivo software, identified ten key themes. Findings reveal that students’ internal motivation and future goals are the most dominant factors, while the role of parents and family environment emerges as the most prominent external influence. Other contributing factors include self-perception, socioeconomic conditions, school environment, teacher roles, aspirations, and educational policies. These results underscore the crucial synergy between school and family environments, highlighting the need for relevant and challenging educational policies that foster a growth mindset. Practical implications emphasise parental involvement and developing students’ life goals for optimal growth mindset cultivation.

Abstract

The rapid transformation of Indonesia's educational system has raised concerns about curricula that prioritize measurable outcomes and technical skills, often neglecting the deeper dimensions of human identity. This qualitative study aims to reconstruct the concept of human nature as the ontological, anthropological, and philosophical foundation for developing the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia. Employing a critical library research approach, this study analyzes philosophical and anthropological perspectives on education alongside policy documents related to the Merdeka Curriculum. The findings indicate that the Merdeka Curriculum possesses significant humanistic potential through its emphasis on learner autonomy, differentiated instruction, and character development as articulated in the Pancasila Student Profile. However, tensions persist between industrial demands and the vision of education as a humanization process. This research underscores the importance of grounding curriculum development in a holistic understanding of human nature to ensure education nurtures learners comprehensively.

Abstract

Trends and shifts in Structural Equation Modeling applications in growth mindset research Abstract: This study aims to examine the application of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) in research on growth mindset. A systematic literature review was employed, using journal articles and conference proceedings sourced from Scopus and Google Scholar via the Publish or Perish application. Inclusion criteria included: publications from the last five years (2020–2024), English-language articles, and explicit use of SEM in studies on growth mindset. Data were analyzed descriptively and through content analysis, with visualization using VOSviewer. The findings indicate that SEM is commonly used to model mediating and moderating relationships between growth mindset and internal factors (e.g., grit, motivation) as well as external factors (e.g., social support, classroom climate), particularly in educational contexts focusing on student academic achievement. Methodological challenges include sample size and validity issues, while conceptual challenges relate to definitional variation and limitations in interpretation. This study is limited to specific data sources and a restricted publication range. Future research is recommended to broaden data sources (e.g., adding Web of Science, ERIC, or ProQuest) and extend the publication period to provide a more comprehensive literature review.

Abstract

This research is aimed at analyzing the level of understanding of guidance and counseling teachers towards the code of ethics of the counselor profession and how they apply it in schools where they are assigned as guidance and counseling teachers. Understanding the professional code of ethics listed in ABKIN is very important for guidance and counseling teachers or school counselors to understand and apply with the aim of avoiding possible malpractice actions. The method used in this study is the SLR (system literature review) method which examines and discusses previous studies and draws conclusions from a discussion. The results of this literature review prove that the understanding of guidance and counseling teachers or school counselors on the code of ethics influences the provision of guidance and counseling services in schools. The higher the percentage of guidance and counseling teachers' understanding of the code of ethics, the better the implementation of guidance and counseling services and vice versa.

Abstract

Temuan mengindikasikan pembelajaran konvensional kurang memberikan ruang eksplorasi multi-perspektif sehingga menghambat pengembangan potensi kreatif optimal. Penelitian merekomendasikan implementasi pembelajaran berbasis proyek terintegrasi teknologi interaktif untuk mengembangkan seluruh dimensi kreativitas secara holistik.
