Abstract

AbstractThe The ability to think critically and the emotional intelligence of students is a matter of concern in the learning of mathematics. The importance of critical mathematical thinking ability are listed in the NCTM's objectives. This reseach aimed to know the correlation among emotional intelligence and mathematical critical thinking ability of the tenth grade students of SMA1 Pontianak. The method that used un this reseach was a quatitative descriptive with Ex Post Facto form. The subject of this research were second eleventh grade science that consist of 33 students. Data collection techniques in this research was a measurement technique in the form of essay and the scale of emotional intelligence. Based on the Kendall’s Tau test with significance level α = 5% found that there was a positive relationship between the students emotional intelligence and mathematical critical thinking ability with the correlation 0,435. So it can be concluded that emotional intelligence is directly proportional to the students mathematical critical thinking ability.Keywords: Emotional Intelligence, Mathematical Critical Thinking

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the application of Cooperative Integrative Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning models in class VII social arithmetic material at SMP Negeri 2 Sungai Raya. The study was reviewed from three aspects, including: the implementation of the syntax of learning, learning activities of students, and learning outcomes of students. The research method used is an experimental method, with a pre-experimental design. The research subjects were grade VII students. Based on data analysis that reviews three aspects, the results are (1) the application of learning syntax is categorized very well with 3.53. (2) the learning activities of students are included in the active criteria that is equal to 73.68% (3) students' learning outcomes classically there are 27 students which is about 79.41% who achieve minimal completeness. The conclusion of this study proves that the Cooperative Integrative Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model is effectively applied to social arithmetic material class VII in SMP Negeri 2 Sungai Raya. Keywords: Cooperative learning model, CIRC type, and social arithmetic

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine students' mathematical communication skills on the material in the circle equation of class XI MIA SMA Negeri 7 Pontianak. The research method is quantitative  descriptive and the research design is a survey. The subjects of this research were 33 students of class XI MIA 1 of SMA Negeri 7 Pontianak. Data collection techniques used were direct measurement and communication techniques. Data collection tools used were test questions and interview guidelines. The results of the research generally showed that students' mathematical communication skills were obtained by 60% in the medium category. This can be seen based on indicators of students' ability to state the situation of the equation of a circle in the form of images and express it into their own language through writing is 62% with a high category, and indicators of the ability of students to express the daily events of the equation of a circle into a mathematical symbol and solve it through writing is 57% in the medium category.

Abstract

AbstrackThis study aims to describe the variety of misconceptions in solving addition and substraction of integers with the method of CRI (Certainty of Response Index) modified in the seventh grade of SMP Kapuas Pontianak. This study uses descriptive method with case study as its methodology. The subject of this study is all of the students of seventh grade of SMP Kapuas Pontianak with misconceptions experienced by students complete on the addition and substruction of integers as the object of this study. This study shows that the variety of misconceptions experienced by students on the addition of integers are systematic misconception, random misconception, and the misconceptions caused by carelessness. While the variety of misconceptions experienced by students on the substruction of integers are systematic misconception, random misconception, misconceptions caused by carelessness  and the misconception that does not belong to any of the above types. Overall it can be concluded that on the addition of integers, students only experience 3 of 4 misconceptions that exist. While on the substraction, students experienced all the existing misconceptions. Keywords: Misconceptions, Operations of Integers

Abstract

 AbstractThis reseach aimed to know the correlation between self-confidence with learning outcomes after given problem solving approach on linear program class XI SMAN 1 Bonti. The method of this research is pre-experimental and research design one-shot case study. The sample of this research are 28 students. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that (1) Learning outcomes of students after given problem solving approach on linear program is 73.21 included in medium category. (2) Self confidence of students after given problem solving approach on linear program is 69.05% included in high category. (3) Based on results of test statistics analysis, the correlation pearson relationship between self  confidence to learning outcomes of students after given problem solving approach onlinear program obtained  that there is positive relationship between self confidence with learning outcomes, with correlation value is 0.691. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that there is significant relationship between self confidence with learning outcomes of  students after given problem solving approach on linear program at SMAN 1 Bonti . Keywords: Self Confidence,Learning Outcomes,Problem Solving

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to improve student learning activities through Lesson Study on rectangular material. The research was conducted at SMP PGRI 4 Pontianak Class VII semester 1 academic year 2011/2012 where the subject of this research is the students of class VII A which amounted to 35 people, with the details of 16 men and 19 women. The research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The study was conducted in two meetings. Each meeting consists of three stages, namely the stage of planning, implementation and reflection. The types of data collected in each cycle are quantitative data in the form of field research notes. Based on the observations obtained at each meeting, it can be seen that the more days learners become more active in learning activities. With the use of Lesson Study the classroom atmosphere becomes more alive and not monotonous, so that learners become more motivated, interested, and more active to follow the learning activities of mathematics. At the first meeting, the learning activities of students who support the learning there are 18 points while the learning activities of students who do not support learning there are 16 points. In the second cycle, student learning activities that support learning there are 23 points whereas student learning activities that do not support learning there are 10 points. The results showed that the Lesson Study can improve the learning activity of VII students of SMP PGRI 4 Pontianak.        Keywords: inprove, activities, lesson study

AbstractThis study aims to find: 1.) Design of jigsaw type mathematics learning model for learning to build up space in class IX Tumbang Titi Junior High School 1. 2.) Steps of jigsaw type learning model for learning to build up space in class IX junior high school Negeri 1 Tumbang Titi. 3.) Differences in the acquisition of wake-up learning space on cognitive and affective aspects, using jigsaw type mathematics learning models and those using conventional learning in class IX Tumbang Titi Junior High School 1. The research method used in this study is concurrent embedded design. Concurrent embedded design is a research method that combines the use of quantitative and qualitative research methods simultaneously or together but the weight of the method is different. The selection of the use of research methods of mixed methods of concurrent embedded design is because the researcher considers that this approach is very appropriate to be used in research that researchers do. Abstract

AbstractThis study was aimed at 1) Describing the misconceptions of students towards the Field Independent and Field Dependent cognitive styles on integer operation material in class VII and 2) Describing whether or not misconceptions could be solved through remediation on cognitive style students in Independent Field and Field Dependent cognitive styles. This research applied a descriptive qualitative case study. The subjects in this study were class VII F students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungai Raya choosen by applying simple random sampling. The data collection techniques used in this research were 1) test methods in which it consisted of Group Embeded Figure Test (GEFT) and Multiple Choice test with open reasoning, 2) interview method which was conducted to Field Independent and Field Dependent students who had misconceptions, 3) remediation methods (metode pengajaran ulang/perbaikan) of the integer material. Based on the results of data analysis, it was obtained changes in the score of pretest and posttest. The mean score of students' pre-test was 37.91 and the mean scores of students' posttest was 96.7. This indicates that the score of the post-test after remediation increased and misconceptions that occured while doing the pretest had been minimized, there could not even be found any subjects that had misconceptions anymore and it means that the remediation (pengajaran ulang/perbaikan) given by the researcher successfully helped solve the misconceptions in integer operation material. Keywords: Cognitive Style, Integer, Misconception, Remedition

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui miskonsepsi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 10 Sungai Kakap pada materi pecahan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan instrumen Certainty of Response Index (CRI) Termodifikasi. Hasil penelitian menggunakan CRI Termodifikasi menunjukkan bahwa 9% siswa tahu konsep, 81% siswa mengalami miskonsepsi, dan 10% siswa tidak tahu konsep. Miskonsepsi yang umum terjadi pada siswa kelas VII SMP N 10 Sungai Kakap pada konsep pecahan meliputi: Ketika mengoperasikan pecahan tanpa menyamakan penyebut, Ketika mengoperasikan pecahan, menyamakan penyebut tetapi salah dalam menjumlahkan pecahan, Ketika mengoperasikan pecahan, mengalikan pembilang dengan penyebut dan menjumlahkan hasil-hasil perkalian, Ketika mengoperasikan pecahan, menyamakan penyebut tetapi salah dalam mengurangkan pecahan yaitu memperoleh hasil penyebut = 1. Berdasarkan analisis data yang dikaitkan dengan teori dari pustaka ditunjang dengan hasil wawancara, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penyebab siswa kelas VII SMPN 10 Sungai Kakap ditinjau dari dalam diri siswa yaitu : Tidak lengkapnya pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep pecahan yang mereka pelajari, Kurangnya rasa kepedulian dalam belajar seperti tidak mau bertanya dan Tidak mau mencari sumber lain ketika mereka tidak paham pada materi pecahan yang diberikan oleh guru. Kata Kunci : Miskonsepsi, Pecahan, CRI, CRI Termodifikasi Abstract: This study aims to determine the misconceptions students of class VII SMP Negeri 10 Sungai Kakap on the material fractions. The method used is descriptive with instruments Certainty of Response Index (CRI) Modified. The results using CRI Modified showed that 9% of students know the concept, 81% of students experiencing misconceptions, and 10% of students do not know the concept. Misconceptions common in class VII SMP N 10 Sungai Kakap on the concept of fractions include: When running fractions without equating the denominator, when operate fractions, equating the denominator but one of the add fractions, When operate fractions, multiplying the numerator by the denominator and summing the results multiplication, When operate fractions, equating the denominator but wrong in subtracting fractions that get results denominator = 1. Based on analysis of data associated with the theory of literature is supported by the results of interviews, researchers concluded that the cause of the students of class VII SMP N 10 Sungai Kakap in terms of the student ie: No details students' understanding of the concept of fractions they learn, lack of a sense of caring in learning as unwilling to ask and not willing to look for other sources when they do not understand the material fractions given by the teacher Keywords : Misconception, Fraction, CRI, CRI Modification

Abstract

AbstractThe research is a qualitative descriptive research that discusses mathematical problems solving that have high, medium, and low self efficacy in the material of Geometry at SMK Negeri 5 Pontianak. The subjects in this research were people, namely students of class XII of SMK Negeri 5 Pontianak who were at high, medium, and low self efficacy. The technique of the data collection is test techniques and direct communication techniques. The data collection tools used are questionnaires, problem questions, and interviews. Obtained from students with high self efficacy can relatively solve problems, can determine plans to solve problems, do calculations well and according to plan, and can re-examine the results obtained and draw conclusions well from the problem proposed; students with medium self efficacy are able to decide questions, determine plans to solve problems, less careful in doing good calculations according to plan, and can re-examine the results obtained and draw conclusions well from the discussion obtained; students with low self efficacy have not been able to solve the problem relatively well, can determine the plan to solve the problem, are not careful in carrying out the calculations and have not been able to draw conclusions well from the problems collected.
