Abstract

Language does not only function as a means of exchanging information but also serves as a link that connects individual thought with cultural values. This study aims to explore the relationship between language, thought, and culture from a semantic perspective, with an emphasis on the role of language as a medium for conveying meaning in communication. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using semantic analysis of linguistic data consisting of words and phrases that reflect cognitive processes and cultural contexts. The results reveal that language contains implicit meanings influenced by mental structures and cultural backgrounds, which in turn affect how people understand and interpret reality. In addition, the study shows that semantic elements in language play a crucial role in constructing collective understanding within a community. These findings emphasize the importance of semantic analysis in understanding language as a holistic system encompassing communication, thought, and culture.

Abstract

This article discusses the integration between the humanistic school in educational psychology and Islamic values in shaping the teacher’s personality. The humanistic approach emphasizes self-actualization, learning freedom, and appreciation of human potential, while Islamic values highlight the purification of the soul (tazkiyatun nafs), moral development, and exemplary character. This study employs a qualitative descriptive literature review method to examine the relevance of both approaches. The findings indicate that integrating the humanistic perspective with Islamic values can produce holistic teachers—intellectually intelligent, emotionally mature, morally upright, and spiritually aware. This integration broadens the function of education from merely transferring knowledge to a comprehensive process of personality formation and spiritual development for educators..

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital information has created a paradox within contemporary Islamic education. On one hand, social media serves as an effective medium for da'wah; on the other, it has become a channel for disseminating radical ideologies and religious disinformation that threaten the sustainability of religious moderation in Indonesia. This study aims to describe an integrative multidisciplinary strategic model for countering radicalism and disinformation on social media. Employing a qualitative approach with a multiple case study design, data were collected through social media content analysis, in-depth interviews with Islamic education teachers, and participatory observations conducted in several pesantren across East Java. Thematic analysis was carried out with the assistance of qualitative data analysis software. The findings reveal five central components: the anatomy of digital radicalism and disinformation; the Framework of Islamic Learning and Technology for Ethical Reasoning; the integration of technological, narrative, and operational dimensions; the development and contextual validation of the FILTER prototype model; and the recontextualization of Islamic epistemology in the digital era. First, the vulnerability of young generations to radical content is shaped by weak critical thinking skills and fragmented religious understanding. Second, the integration of hadith studies, ushul fiqh, cognitive psychology, and digital communication proves effective in strengthening ideological resilience. Third, the FILTER model demonstrates its potential to enhance students’ ability to identify and reject problematic content during limited trials. Therefore, these findings affirm that multidisciplinary digital literacy strategies not only enhance learners’ technological competence but also reinforce ideological immunity against the growing waves of radicalism and disinformation. The implementation of the FILTER model further represents a new form of digital sanad an adaptive knowledge chain responsive to contemporary scholarly dynamics and technological developments.

Abstract

This study explores the relevance of Imam Al-Ghazali’s educational philosophy to contemporary Islamic education in responding to current moral, social, and educational challenges. Using a library research method, the study systematically examines Al-Ghazali’s views on educational goals, curriculum orientation, the role of teachers, and instructional methods, and then contextualizes these perspectives within the dynamics of modern educational systems. The analysis highlights how Al-Ghazali’s educational thought addresses issues related to moral decline, character formation, and the imbalance between intellectual achievement and ethical development in present-day education. The findings show that Al-Ghazali’s emphasis on integrating knowledge and character, balancing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, and highlighting the teacher’s role as a moral exemplar remains highly applicable today. His educational framework which prioritizes spiritual development, moral formation, self-discipline, and closeness to God offers a strong, comprehensive, and relevant foundation for renewing Islamic education in the modern era and for fostering holistic learners with intellectual competence, ethical awareness, and spiritual integrity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Using a descriptive qualitative approach with library research methods, this research analyzes various relevant literature sources. The findings indicate that PBL offers significant advantages in the context of PAI, including the development of critical, analytical, and reflective thinking skills, strengthening moral and spiritual responsibility, fostering collaboration, and increasing student learning motivation through solving authentic, contextual problems. However, the implementation of PBL in PAI also faces several challenges, such as the low pedagogical readiness of teachers in designing problem scenarios aligned with Islamic values, limitations in time and learning facilities, and resistance to the shift from traditional teaching paradigms. The success of PBL in PAI heavily depends on the teacher's ability as a facilitator to integrate modern constructivist approaches with the principles of Islamic pedagogy, such as tarbiyah, ta'dib, and muhasabah. This study concludes that PBL is a relevant and effective learning model for PAI, provided there is adequate support for teacher competency development and learning infrastructure.

Abstract

Assessing reading skills in Arabic language learning is a crucial aspect that demands effective, objective, and adaptive approaches to student needs. However, in practice, traditional assessments often face constraints such as time limitations, teacher subjectivity, and a lack of evaluation tools capable of comprehensively measuring student comprehension. This paper aims to explore the utilization of AI technology, specifically AI Form Grader and Reverso applications, as innovative assessment solutions for evaluating reading skills in Arabic texts. AI Form Grader facilitates automatic correction of multiple-choice and short-answer questions related to reading comprehension, while Reverso is used to analyze sentence structure, contextual translations, and the accuracy level of students' comprehension of Arabic texts. Through a literature review approach and descriptive analysis, this paper presents a study on the advantages, challenges, and integration strategies of these two tools in technology-based Arabic language learning. The results indicate that the implementation of AI can enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and objectivity of assessment, while also encouraging students to be more independent and reflective in understanding Arabic texts. Thus, the utilization of AI technology in this context can be a significant breakthrough in the development of innovative assessment systems in Arabic language learning.

Abstract

Reconstructing the paradigm of Islamic education has become an urgent necessity in response to the dynamic development of knowledge and the challenges of modernization. This study examines Fazlur Rahman’s alternative ideas as an effort to renew Islamic education through a library research approach. Fazlur Rahman proposes three innovative main approaches: the Islamization of modern secular education as an effort to integrate Islamic values into the contemporary education system; the simplification of the traditional syllabus to align learning materials with current needs; and the integration of classical branches of knowledge with modern sciences to create a holistic and relevant curriculum. This study emphasizes that these three approaches not only have the potential to overcome the stagnation of Islamic education but also open space for educational transformation that can compete globally without losing its Islamic identity. The findings are expected to serve as a conceptual foundation for educators and policymakers in formulating progressive and adaptive strategies for renewing Islamic education.

Abstract

Assessment in education is the most crucial component for measuring student learning outcomes. Arabic language learning has experienced a paradigm shift from a focus solely on cognitive aspects to a holistic assessment oriented toward character development. This means that students are unable to understand and practice religious values related to moral ethics in school life, such as disrespect toward teachers, increased bullying, fights between students, smoking on school grounds, and various other unethical behaviors. This has led to a tendency to neglect character education as a priority. Therefore, innovations in Arabic language education are needed that integrate and prioritize strengthening student character. Therefore, character-based Arabic language learning assessment innovations are presented as an integrative effort that combines language proficiency with character values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, and cooperation. The innovation in character-based Arabic language assessment aims to develop an evaluation method that not only measures linguistic competence but also shapes students' personalities with noble morals and the ability to become responsible individuals. The developed teaching system combines assessment of language skills (Istima', Kalam, Qiro'ah, Kitabah) with observation of character values such as honesty, responsibility, cooperation, and discipline. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Results indicate that the implementation of character-based assessment can increase learning motivation, active student engagement, and create a more meaningful and holistic learning environment. This innovation is expected to make a real contribution to the development of more humanistic Arabic language learning evaluations relevant to national character education goals.

Abstract

This investigation endeavors to explore the integration of Pavlov's classical conditioning theory with Piaget's stages of cognitive development in the articulation of comprehensive learning principles. The methodological approach adopted is a systematic literature review that amalgamates core tenets from Pavlovian theory and Piaget's cognitive developmental phases. The outcomes demonstrate that the confluence of these two paradigms furnishes a robust foundation for devising adaptive learning frameworks oriented toward holistic student maturation. This synthesis emphasizes that comprehensive learning extends beyond mere stimulus-response dynamics, incorporating students' cognitive progression and mental engagements. Accordingly, this framework enables the formulation of dynamic and contextually attuned learning experiences commensurate with students' developmental exigencies. The study asserts that the convergence of classical and cognitive theories is imperative as a cornerstone for contemporary pedagogical practices.
