Abstract

Rabies is a zoonotic disease caused by the rabies virus and can be fatal if not treated immediately. In Kualin, East Nusa Tenggara, local people have long used traditional medicinal plants to treat rabies. This research aims to explore the types of medicinal plants used by the Kualin community in treating rabies, as well as find out their properties and how to use them. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through interviews and direct observation. The results of the research show that several plants are often used, including soursop (Annona muricata), turmeric (Curcuma longa), ginger (Zingiber officinale), gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica), and tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). This ethnopharmacological knowledge needs to be preserved and developed as part of local wisdom in managing public health. Further research is needed to identify and test the effectiveness of medicinal plants used by the community in treating rabies.

Abstract

This study examines the development of a palm oil mill in a densely populated area such as Pulo Padang Village, which has created complex dynamics related to environmental politics and social conflict. This study aims to evaluate the impact of development on society and the environment, as well as the resolution process. A qualitative approach method was used with interview, observation, and documentation techniques for residents, the government, and the company. The results show that the conflict is rooted in a lack of transparency, minimal community participation, and ecological impacts that are detrimental to the surrounding community. The government needs to strengthen regulations and actively involve the community to achieve equitable sustainable development. These findings emphasize the importance of an inclusive approach, constructive negotiation, and the application of environmental justice principles to reduce conflict and improve socio-ecological sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The teaching of English For Young Learners (TEYL) in Indonesia has become increasingly prominent in response to globalization and the growing need for English proficiency in academic and professional spheres. Despite this rising demand, the implementation of English education at the early childhood and primary school level encounters significant challenges. These include inconsistent educational policies, a lack of adequately trained teachers, and insufficient teaching and learning resources. This study investigates the current landscape of English language education for young learners in Indonesia by examining national education policies and classroom practices. The research identifies key issues such as the incongruent of a standardized curriculum, minimal pre-service and in-service teacher training specific to TEYL, and disparities in access to quality English instructions and materials between urban and rural schools. Therefore, this current study proposes a strategic roadmap aimed at enhancing the quality and effectiveness of TEYL in Indonesia. These include policy reforms, targeted teacher development programs, curriculum enhancements, and improved resource allocation. The findings are intended to inform policymakers, educational institutions, and practitioners in developing a sustainable roadmap for TEYL in Indonesia.
