Abstract

Household waste management in residential areas remains a significant challenge due to the low level of public awareness regarding proper waste disposal practices. This community service activity aimed to increase public awareness of household waste management through the use of educational media in residential environments. The methods employed included environmental observation, coordination with local community leaders, development of simple and persuasive educational messages, installation of educational media at strategic locations, and brief socialization activities for residents. The results indicated that the educational media helped raise residents’ awareness of environmental cleanliness and served as a reminder to avoid improper waste disposal, particularly in drainage channels and along residential roads. The community showed positive responses and began to demonstrate improved attitudes toward maintaining cleanliness around their homes and public facilities. These findings suggest that well-designed educational media, placed in frequently accessed areas, can effectively encourage behavioral change in household waste management. Program sustainability requires continued support from community leaders and active participation from residents through monitoring and routine environmental cleaning activities

Abstract

Pematang Gubernur Subdistrict is one of the areas with well-organized residential areas and a fairly good level of environmental cleanliness awareness. However, understanding of waste management and separation is still uneven, and there are no information media available to help residents understand the proper way to sort household waste. This community service program aims to provide education through the installation of educational information boards in RT 22 RW 02, Pematang Gubernur Subdistrict. The implementation methods include field observation, preparation of educational content, media creation, board installation, and socialization to residents. The results of the activity show that visual educational media help increase public knowledge about types of waste and how to separate it, as well as serve as a sustainable educational tool accessible to residents.

Abstract

Marriage in Islam is not merely a physical bond between two individuals but also an act of worship that encompasses spiritual, psychological, and social responsibilities. This article aims to examine the concept of marital readiness from the perspectives of Islamic religious education and educational psychology, emphasizing the importance of emotional and financial preparedness, as well as a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities within married life. Employing a qualitative approach through literature review, the study explores key dimensions of marital readiness, including moral, spiritual, physical, and psychological maturity, along with skills in conflict management, communication, and adaptation to household dynamics. The findings indicate that spiritual orientation serves as a critical predictor of marital harmony, while external support, such as family involvement and an Islamic environment, strengthens holistic preparedness. Contemporary challenges such as the childfree phenomenon, same-sex marriage, and cultural practices conflicting with Islamic teachings are highlighted as significant concerns in the discourse. The study concludes that the integration of Islamic values with educational psychology approaches is essential for cultivating comprehensive marital readiness and fostering families grounded in sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah.

Abstract

Pancasila education in primary schools is pivotal for early character formation, yet teachers face limited digital teaching media, low learner engagement, and weak technology integration, especially in resource-constrained settings. This study aimed to identify pedagogical, content, and technical requirements for an Android-based application, GO-PANCASILA, for Grade-4 learners. Using a Research and Development approach, the study combined the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) with the Waterfall SDLC, focusing on the Define and Design phases as a needs analysis. Data were collected through literature review, classroom observations, and semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, then thematically analyzed and triangulated. Findings showed that teachers struggle to create contextual materials, choose relevant methods, and manage instructional time, while students prefer multimedia-based interactive learning. Key needs include engaging visual content, reflective quizzes, and integration of Pancasila values into daily experiences. These findings provide a foundation for developing GO-PANCASILA as an adaptive learning solution supporting character formation and civic literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) strategy on students’ critical thinking skills in economics learning at SMAN 5 Pekanbaru. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method, with class X5 as the control group and X6 as the experimental group. Data were collected through pretest, posttest, and analyzed using statistical tests. The results showed that the implementation of PBL had a significant effect on improving students’ critical thinking skills, where the experimental class showed higher improvement than the control class. This indicates that PBL encourages students to actively analyze and solve problems. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning strategy is effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study explores the rich yet often overlooked history of Bandar Senapelan, a former port and commercial center that served as the capital of the Siak Sri Indrapura Sultanate from 1761 to 1779. Once a vital hub for trade, cultural exchange, and the spread of Islam in the Riau region of Sumatra, its historical role remains insufficiently examined in scholarly discourse. Addressing this gap, the research analyzes the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Bandar Senapelan to illuminate its contribution to the development of Islamic society and to situate it within the broader narrative of Islamization in Southeast Asia. Employing a historical–interpretative methodology, the study draws on primary sources such as archaeological artifacts, architectural remains, and historical accounts to reconstruct the relationship between material culture, belief, and governance. The findings reveal that Bandar Senapelan’s heritage directly reflects its role as a key center of Islamic history in the Malay world. The peaceful arrival of Islam through trade and its institutionalization under the Siak Sultanate fostered a dynamic synthesis between Islamic principles and indigenous Malay traditions, evident in the city’s architecture, law, and educational institutions. Ultimately, the case of Bandar Senapelan demonstrates how Islam in maritime Southeast Asia evolved through adaptation and negotiation rather than conquest. Its enduring cultural legacy underscores the inseparable link between faith, commerce, and identity, affirming the importance of heritage preservation for understanding the historical dynamics of Islamic civilization in the region.
