Abstract

It is inevitable that there are partialities to certain parties, one of which is news related to North Korea. CNN tends to release news by emphasizing negative aspects of North Korea, such as its nuclear program, human rights violations, and restrictive government policies. This study aims to prove the power of CNN as a media in constructing the image of North Korea. This research is qualitative research because the data used is not numerical data. This research uses the three-dimensional theory of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) by Norman Fairclough. The theory of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) by M.A.K. Halliday is also used as a supporting theory to analyze the first dimension of CDA. The results showed that there is a partiality of CNN to the United States in writing news. Starting from the use of verbs that indicate the occurrence of violence, the existence of negative words, and the conflict factors that occur between the United States and North Korea are supporting aspects of the formation of a negative image of North Korea in public.

Abstract

This study aimed to design and evaluate a local wisdom–based entrepreneurship course model to enhance the entrepreneurial competencies of pre-service science teachers. The research followed the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) instructional design framework and employed the Delphi and Fuzzy Delphi methods for expert validation involving ten specialists in science and entrepreneurship education. A true experimental design using a posttest-only control group was conducted with 62 participants enrolled in an entrepreneurship course at a university in Central Java, Indonesia. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, independent sample t-tests, and Cohen’s d to determine the effect size. The results demonstrated that the developed model achieved high validity across all instructional stages (DV > 0.7; d < 0.2). Empirical findings indicated that the experimental group exhibited significantly higher gains in entrepreneurial skills than the control group (p < 0.05), with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.54). The model effectively strengthened students’ risk-taking abilities, opportunity recognition, self-efficacy, emotional intelligence, and innovative thinking. These findings underscore that integrating local wisdom into entrepreneurship education fosters contextualized learning experiences and promotes sustainable entrepreneurial behavior among future science educators. The proposed model provides a practical framework for higher education institutions to develop entrepreneurial competencies while preserving and utilizing local cultural values. Keywords: entrepreneurship education; local potential; pre-service science teachers; entrepreneurial skills; fuzzy

Abstract

The increasing demand for lightweight and sustainable materials in automotive safety components has driven interest in natural fiber composites. Abundant oil palm trunk waste in South Kalimantan presents a promising, low-cost source for composite reinforcement. This study aims to analyze the crashworthiness performance of crash box structures using oil palm trunk fiber composites as an environmentally friendly alternative material. The research method involved the fabrication of composite specimens with fiber orientations of 30°, 60°, and 90°, using epoxy resin as the matrix. Mechanical testing included tensile tests based on ASTM D638-02 and Charpy impact tests based on ASTM D6110. The tensile test results showed that fiber orientation significantly affects the mechanical properties of the composites. The 60° orientation exhibited the highest tensile strength and elastic modulus, while the 30° orientation demonstrated the highest elongation, indicating better ductility. The 90° orientation showed intermediate performance but tended to be brittle. The impact test results revealed that the 60° fiber orientation had the highest toughness in absorbing impact energy, whereas the 30° and 90° orientations displayed lower toughness. Overall, the 60° fiber orientation of oil palm trunk composites shows potential for crash box applications, as it provides a balance between strength and toughness, although its brittleness still requires further consideration.

Abstract

A major concern in rural development is the cooperation between the central government and communities to satisfy their entitlement to food and enhance the nutrition of kids. By means of local resource management and encouragement of community-based economic activities, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa) significantly contribute to this endeavour. This study looks at BUM Desa's legal responsibility for carrying out the Free Nutritious Meals Program, evaluates its success in tackling food security and child nutrition in line with human rights standards, and thus aligns with. BUM Desa has major legal, operational, and resource-related difficulties running the program notwithstanding its strategic promise. Its capacity to properly support food security and nutrition enhancements is hampered by regulatory discrepancies, poor institutional capacity, and inadequate cooperation structures. These difficulties generate questions regarding the fit of the current legal system controlling BUM Desa and its conformity with more general human rights responsibilities. Making sure BUM Desa participates meaningfully depends on strengthening this structure. This study emphasises the necessity of harmonised rules and capacity-building initiatives to improve operational performance of BUM Desa. Moreover, guaranteeing sustainable food security in rural areas depends on closer cooperation among the stakeholders. Although BUM Desa has great potential to assist the Free Nutritious Meals Program by using local resources and involving communities, current issues have to be resolved. BUM Desa can help to more successfully reach food security and nutritional objectives by enhancing legal and institutional frameworks and supporting teamwork. This study adds to the conversation on community-driven economic institutions and human rights-based methods of rural development
