Abstract

This study examines the trends and implementation of game-based learning (GBL) in primary school mathematics learning, integrating global perspectives and the Indonesian context. This study aims to: (1) identify post-2021 GBL design trends (digital vs. non-digital), (2) explore the determinants of successful implementation across different geographical contexts, and (3) analyze the synergistic role of teachers and technology in reducing the risk of disruption. A systematic literature review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol was conducted by analyzing 15 Scopus-indexed international articles (2021-2025). Findings show that developed countries adopt more AI/AR-based digital GBL and adaptive apps, while Indonesia emphasizes hybrid approaches (culture-based board games, physical-digital integration) and affordable technologies. Key success factors include teacher-developer collaboration, technical training and cultural relevance, although challenges such as the digital divide (30% of rural schools without computers) and overly complex designs persist. Teacher-led scaffolding-based learning (pre/post-game guidance, time management) and technology-based tools (instant feedback, adaptive difficulty levels) synergistically reduced distractions, aligning with ZPD and Flow Theory principles. This study confirms the importance of glocalization - integrating global innovations with local contexts to support inclusive, adaptive and sustainable mathematics learning. The implications call for policy reforms to address infrastructure gaps, teacher capacity building and context-sensitive GBL design.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the financial performance of the local government ofBarito Kuala Regency by using the Financial Ratio Analysis of the Regional Budget andRevenue (APBD) of Barito Kuala Regency in the 2015-2018 Fiscal Year. In this study, the analysis tools used are Regional Financial Performance Analysis and Analysis ofRegional Financial Capabilities. Financial Performance Analysis is measured bycalculating the Independence Ratio, Activity Ratio, Effectiveness and Efficiency Ratio, and Growth Ratio. At the same time, Financial Ability Analysis is measured bycalculating the Routine Ability Index and Fiscal Autonomy Degree Ratio.Based on the results of the calculation of Regional Financial Performance, it canbe concluded that the relationship pattern of regional independence is instructive, meaning that the provincial government is still very dependent on central governmenttransfer funds. Simultaneously, the Activity Ratio level is not balanced, where localgovernments prioritize Indirect Expenditure compared to Direct Expenditure. However, the level of regional effectiveness and efficiency ratio shows a practical and efficientlevel. Based on the average growth ratio shows that growth is fluctuating from year toyear. Change tends to be positive, but Direct Spending shows negative growth. Whilebased on the results of the calculation of Regional Financial Capabilities, it can beconcluded that the results of the analysis of Routine Capacity Index and Fiscal AutonomyDegree Ratio are on a scaling scale, meaning that the financial capacity of Barito Kualadistrict is not yet ideal, because the role of the central government is still very dominant.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential in modern education and are important in sound decision-making and problem-solving. Therefore, effective teaching in developing students' critical thinking skills must be taken seriously. This article aims to review various effective teaching strategies in improving critical thinking skills at different levels of education. This research uses a literature study approach by analyzing recent articles discussing teaching methods, focusing on developing critical thinking. Based on the literature review conducted, it was found that methods such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and inquiry-based learning (IBL) proved to be very effective in improving critical thinking skills. PBL, which encourages students to solve real problems in groups, provides hands-on experience in critical thinking. In addition, IBL teaches students to ask questions and explore answers independently and actively. Both methods improve students' analytical and evaluative skills at primary and tertiary education levels. However, challenges in implementation include the need for ongoing training for educators and limited resources. In conclusion, teaching based on these methods effectively improves students' critical thinking skills and prepares them to face the challenges of the complex world of work.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a web-based learning medium utilizing an inquiry model to enhance primary school students' cognitive learning outcomes and learning independence. The development procedure followed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects were 60 fifth-grade elementary school students, divided into experimental and control groups. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. Media validity assessments by material and media experts yielded an average score of 94% ("very valid" category), while practitioner teacher evaluations indicated 91% feasibility. Effectiveness tests revealed significant improvements in the experimental group: average cognitive learning outcomes increased from 68.4 to 87.2, whereas the control group only rose from 66.1 to 72.3. Similarly, the experimental group's learning independence questionnaire scores increased from 66.5 to 85.6, compared to the control group's increase from 67.2 to 70.8. T-tests confirmed the significance of these improvements (p<0.05) for both variables. The main innovation lies in integrating the inquiry model into an interactive web-based medium specifically designed for the IPAS topic "Earth Layer Structure." This medium empowers students to construct knowledge through self-exploration, visual interaction, and reflective, inquiry-based activities, addressing a gap in digital learning development at the primary school level. Practical implications suggest that this inquiry-based interactive web medium can serve as a strategic alternative for IPAS learning, emphasizing conceptual understanding and fostering learning independence. The medium's flexibility allows for broad integration into various learning scenarios, supporting both offline and online adaptive and personalized instruction.
