Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of interactive multimedia-assisted probing - prompting learning model on conceptual understanding of students. Population in this study was the students of class XI of State SHS 11 Semarang academic year 2017/2018. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique and obtained three classes as the samples namely class XI-Science 1 and class XI-Science 4 as the experiment classes, and class XI-Science 3 as the control class. The study method used was mix methods with Sequential Transformative Strategy model. The study data were obtained by test and observation methods. The results showed that Interactive multimedia-assisted probing-prompting learning model had an effect on students’ conceptual understanding with percentage improvement in two experimental classes of 24.15% and 15.12%, respectivelly.

Abstract

Science process skills are indispensable for educators in the world of education or in everyday life that includes observing, categorizing, interpreting, forecasting, questioning, formulating hypotheses and communicating. The aim of this research is to develop of inquiry-based chemical practicum green chemistry-oriented for improving the students' science process skills in a colloid material. This research is a type of R & D research with One Group Pretest-posttest Design design applied to test the application of practicum as the product of development. The criteria for the success of this study are valid practicum, increasing KPS and getting a positive response from learners. Research data obtained by observation method, documentation, questionnaire and test. Device validation results obtained valid criteria (3.8 of 4). The results of early practicum KPS were in enough and fewer categories, improved on the final lab in the good and excellent category. The average of cognitive learning outcomes of the broad test classes is 79.20 (> of KKM) and the proportion of classical learning completion is greater than 80% or 24 of the 30 students reach the KKM. Students respond positively to the practicum in the "strongly agree" criteria.

Abstract

The involvement of science, environment, society, and technology or SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, and Society) in learning makes learning more meaningful. The fluency and success in learning can be supported by the availability of more varied learning facilities, one of them with Student Worksheets (LKS). SETS visionary worksheets as a learning tool that will be developed to train students' scientific literacy in accordance with the learning material. The purpose of this study is to describe the improvement of students' scientific literacy skills between the experimental class and the control class.This study uses Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Scientific literacy skills are measured by a description of 10 items. The results showed that there were differences in the increase in scientific literacy skills between the experimental class and the control class in the low improvement category, but there was a significant difference in both quality/statistics. The percentage increase in the experimental class (41.5%) was greater than the control class (24.7%). Students' responses to the worksheets applied were very good. The conclusions in this study are that SETS vision worksheets applied can improve students' scientific literacy.

Abstract

Hasil observasi awal kelas 3 SDN Nguter II, Sukoharjo ditemukan permasalahan rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan instrumen penilaian sikap percaya diri tidak ada. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mendesain perangkat pembelajaran matematika menggunakan model PBL dengan APM yang terdiri dari silabus, RPP, LKS, bahan ajar, dan soal TKPM yang memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. Penelitian dan pengembangan ini mengacu pada model Borg and Gall yang secara garis besar meliputi: studi pendahuluan, perencanaan desain, dan pengembangan. Penelitian ini menghasilkan buku pedoman guru untuk pembelajaran matematika. Validasi perangkat pembelajaran menyatakan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran valid. Kepraktisan perangkat pembelajaran diperoleh dari pencapaian kemampuan guru melaksanakan pembelajaran, respon guru terhadap perangkat, dan respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran tergolong kategori sangat baik. Keefektifan pembelajaran ditunjukkan dengan ketuntasan belajar siswa mencapai 90% dan uji beda rata-rata menunjukkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas eksperimen lebih baik dari kelas kontrol. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas eksperimen meningkat sebesar 0,36 dengan kriteria sedang. Pencapian indikator sikap percaya diri siswa kelas eksperimen meningkat berdasarkan hasil pengamatan mencapai kriteria sedang. Simpulan penelitian yaitu perangkat PBL dengan APM valid, praktis, dan efektif. Saran untuk peneliti selanjutnya yaitu perlu adanya penelitian lebih lanjut sebagai pengembangan dari penelitian ini pada materi pokok yang lain.The results of preliminary observations in grade 3 SDN II Nguter, Sukoharjo problems found that poor problem-solving skills and assessment self confidece doesn’t exist. The purpose of this research was designing mathematical learning tool using PBL model with APM that consists of syllabus, lesson plans, worksheets, materials, and problem-solving skills test which valid, practice, and effective. This research and development refer to the Borg and Gall models which include: preliminary study.  planning, and development. This research resulted in the teacher manual for learning mathematics.Validation of the learning device states that valid. Practicality learning tool obtained from the achievement of the ability of teachers in implementing the learning, teacher’s response to the tools, and student’s response to learning category is very good. The effectiveness of learning shown by students learning completeness reached 90% and independent sample t-test show students problem-solving abilities experimental class is better than control class. Problem-solving ability of student’s experimental class increased by 0.36 with the criteria of moderate. Self confident indicator experimental class students increased by observation achieving middle criteria. The conclusions of research that the PBL with APM valid, practical, and effective. Suggestions for further research is need for further research as the development of research on another the subject matter.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to compare the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning with SETS approach and lecturing on cognitive learning achievement and naturalist intelligence of fourth grade elementary school students. This research used quasy experimental design, pretest-postest control group type design with guided inquiry learning SETS approach as independent variable. The dependent variable is the cognitive learning achievement and naturalist intelligence. The results of this research found that the students' cognitive learning achievement increases after being teached by using guided inquiry learning SETS approach that compare to discussion and lecturing. There is significant difference of learning achievements that apply the guided inquiry learning with SETS approach compared to the discussion and lecturing. Guided inquiry learning is more effective in improving cognitive learning achievement of fourth grade students. There is a high naturalist intelligence on the application of guided inquiry learning with SETS approach on science subject. It is suggested to teachers to apply guided inquiry learning with SETS approach in order to improve cognitive learning and naturalist intelligence. The use of guided inquiry learning with SETS approach should be priopritized in learning.

Abstract

The use of storybooks is rarely used in science learning. Though the storybook is able to help students construct the concept comprehension and the curiosity. The purpose of this research is to know the Influence of the storybook on science concept through curiosity as an intervening variable. This is quantitative expose facto research with the formulation of associative problem. Data of Science Concept Comprehension, storybook, and curiosity are successively obtained through the description test instruments, multiple choice test instruments, and observation instruments, and also analyzed by regression analysis and correlation analysis. Storybook and curiosity influenced Science Concept Comprehension, proven correlation analysis of 0.92 and t-tested by 15.14. With the value of 2.02 ttable, then the results show that the influence of storybook and curiosity is very strong and significant. In the joint influence, the dominance of storybook influence is very high and significant, evidenced by a partial correlation of 0.89 with a value of t-test of 12.20. While the dominance of the influence of curiosity is very low and not significant, with the result of correlation analysis -0.03 and t-test value of -0.20. These results indicate that the storybook has a powerful effect on Science Concept Comprehension. In the storybook's shared influence, curiosity has no big effect on Science Concept Comprehension. This research should give belief to elementary school teachers to use storybook in learning because it proved very influential towards understanding the Science Concept.

Abstract

The background of this research is less optimal learning of science grade IV of elementary school in Tugu subdistrict semester I of academic year 2017/2018. Students have not shown a good scientific attitude so that science learning achievement is not optimal yet. The classical passing grade of science is still less than 85%. For the same case, other researchers have applied a quantum teaching model with multiple intelligences to improve learning outcomes. The aim of this research is to know the impact of multiple intelligences approach through quantum teaching model to scientific attitude and science learning outcomes in the  fourth grade student on plant part structure material. This research was conducted at the SDN Tugurejo 01 and the SDN Tugurejo 03 Semarang academic year 2016/2017. This research method is true experimental design with pretest-posttest control group design model. The sampling technique chosen is probability sampling with simple random sampling model. The result on scientific attitude of experimental class is 78,4% belongs to a good category while the passing grade of science learning is 87,9% with average score 81. Result on scientific attitude of control class 70,97% belongs to medium category while passing grade of science learning 81.3% with an average of 76. The conclusion of this study is learning by multiple intelligences approach through quantum teaching model more effective to improve scientific attitudes and science learning outcomes than learning by quantum teaching model.

Abstract

This research aims to find and identify the 4th level students science generic skill using guided inquiry learning in SMK Raja Permaisuri Bainun. This research method is descriptive qualitative method that explains the generic science skills indicators that have been studied through the Data taken from the research then Analyzed and summarized as research results. Profile of generic science skills valuation indicates that the indicator of student observation on acid and base material is high with the average of 81. Science Generic skills of symbolic language are classified with average of 73, while logical consistency and inference indicator are classified as high with average of 67 and 85 respectively. Overall, 4th Generic science skills of SMK Raja Permaisuri Bainin on acid and base material in guided inquiry learning is high enough with the average of 76.5. The analysis of students' cognitive learning outcomes guided inquiry learning was obtained in average of 73 and it indicated a high level of achievement. Furthermore, this result also indicated resources in the student's response to the guided inquiry learning that positively influences the students science generic skills.

Abstract

Teaching materials are a set of learning facilities or tools that contain learning materials, methods, boundaries, and how to evaluate a systematic and attractive designed to achieve the expected goal, namely achieving competence or sub competence with all its complexity. This research aims to (1) analyzing the chemical materials used in the class of XI IPA, (2) to develop the teaching materials that should be used in chemical learning, (3) test the feasibility of e-module based on problem chemical, (4) to examine the effectiveness of the chemical e-module based on problem based learning. This research uses the model of Research and Development (R & D). The teaching materials used in chemistry learning in the classes of XI IPA are LKS and published books. The teaching materials are developed in the form of e-module of chemical based on problem-based learning. The steps include: Presenting the problem, organizing the students, investigation of the group, Development, and presentation of the work, and evaluation of the results of the investigation. The feasibility of an e-module based on the problem of chemical media experts and the materials and practitioner’s validation. The validation is done in two stages. On the feasibility Validation e-module chemical based on problem-based learning in steps two, the result obtained e-modules based on the problem of chemistry that has achieved maximum score with the category is good that can be used in learning. Based on the effectiveness test that is using descriptive test, prerequisite test, and hypothesis test, it can be concluded that e-module of chemical based on problem-based learning can improve the concept of student understanding. The results of the study are expected to strengthen the theory of learning technology, especially on the development of chemical teaching materials. This Research as a means of procurement of educational products, i.e., e-module based on the problem-based learning that is flexible, efficient and effective, and can be used as a source of reading capable of providing an understanding of the enhanced student concepts mastery in learning of chemistry.

Abstract

Twenty first century learning directs teachers and students to develop learning to promote critical thinking skills. The learning model accommodating critical thinking skills is inquiry. Chemistry learning modules that have not used a chemical representation approach. This study aims to produce chemical representation based equilibrium modules with a decent and quality inquiry approach. This research is a development research from Thiagarajan modified 4D model. Four stages of development are Define (design), Design (Develop), Develop (development), and Disseminate (spread), with disseminate not done. Evaluation of module feasibility is seen from the validity and effectiveness of the module. The effectiveness of the module is seen from the increase in learning outcomes and improvement of students' critical thinking skills. Based on the results of the analysis obtained a validity value of 3.41 (85.25%) with a very good category. In a large-scale trial obtained an increase in learning outcomes through the N-Gain test obtained an average value of 0.72 with a high category, while the aspect of critical thinking was assessed based on observations on the observations and explanations of students in answering questions. Critical thinking ability of students at a score of 3.35 with a good predicate. While the response of students who agreed to use the chemical module was 96%. The average score of posttest using critical thinking questions is 81.39. Based on the results of the evaluation of inquiry-based chemical equilibrium material modules and the chemical representation approach it is said to be feasible and effective for learning.
