Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the strengths and the weaknesses of the use of "Speed Up English 6" textbook through contextual teaching and learning of the sixth grade students of SDN IKIP I Makassar. This research employed a descriptive method. The data source was "Speed Up English 6" as the reference book of the sixth grade students of SDN IKIP I Makassar. It was written by Rita Kurniawan and Naning Partini, and published by Yudhistira in 2006. The informants were 10 students of class 6' and 10 students of class 6. The collected data were analyzed by using percentage descriptive analysis. The result of this research showed that (1) the strengths of this textbook lay on its colorfulness either its cover or contents and its pictures which are related to the real world as well as provide syllabus based on standardized national curriculum, (2) the weaknesses of this textbook lay on some activities which are not related to the syllabus, and (3) this research found that Contextual Teaching and Learning contribute to maximize the use of "Speed Up English 6" textbook.Key words: Speed up English 6, textbook, contextual teaching and learning.

Abstract

Due to the wide spread of Covid-19, the government started to began online learning activities. This new policies created a new learning environment for students and teacher. This study focused on teacher strategies in teaching writing skills in pandemic era. The aims of this study are to answer the research questions: what are teacher strategies in teaching writing skills during online class and how did the teacher implemented these strategies during online class. This study used qualitative approached. The subject of this study were English Teacher from SMK Negeri 8 Makassar, SMK Negeri 4 Enrekang, and SMA Negeri 5 Enrekang. The research instrument for this study is interview protocol. The result of this study showed that each teacher have a different strategies and how they implemented it. As the interviewed results, these teachers used two strategies, that are Cognitive strategy and Affective strategy. For Cognitive strategy, there are several methods that implemented by the teacher, namely, question and answer, comprehend and understanding, and teaching method. While for the Affective strategy, the method that implemented by teacher is using student’s favourites and experiences as the writing topic.Keywords— Teacher Strategies, Writing Skills, Online Learning.

Abstract

English is one of the international languages, as well as the UN's official language (United Nations).  Mastering  English  will  increase  an  individual's  opportunities  to  learn  about  the world  and  compete  on  a  global  scale.  Nonetheless,  English  proficiency  among  Indonesians remains quite low. According to EF-EPI, Indonesia is in the low ability category for English proficiency, ranking 80th out of 112 countries. Then why is it like this when English has been a required subject in schools and has been taught for a long time to Indonesian students? In truth, there are inhibiting factors affecting students' English performance. In truth, there are inhibiting factors affecting students' English performance. The purpose of this research is to determine the factors that inhibit performance by focusing on data sources. specifical students from SMK-SMTI Makassar 12th grade in the 2021/2022 academic year. This study's findings revealed  ten  inhibiting  factors which  are grammar,  vocabulary,  lack  of  self-confidence, familiarity  and  feeling  toward  the  topic,  self-esteem,  interlocutor,  self-consciousness, pronunciation, shyness, and anxiety. Keywords— English-Speaking Skills, Inhibiting Factors.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to improve learners' vocabulary ability. through Synectic strategies. pre-experimental design is the method used by researchers with one group pre-test and post-test. The population in this study were students of class X MAN 1 Barru in the academic year 2022/2023. Cluster random sampling is used in this research. in this case, the researcher chose class X MIA 1 as a representation of the population consisting of 26 students. The results of this study prove that there is a significant difference between students' scores before treatment and students' scores after treatment are evident from the students' pre-test normal scores (56,88) and should be lower than the post-test means (87,04). In addition, by using a Synectic strategy, students can remember words, train students’ creativity, and are effective in teaching vocabulary at MAN 1 Barru Keywords— Synectic Strategy and improve Vocabulary

Abstract

This research examines the Qodiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah Tariqat's teachings in Palembang, focusing on the individuals responsible for preserving these teachings, their roles, and the impact of these teachings on education, social life, and religious culture within the Palembang Muslim community. The study employs a case study research model conducted at Subulussalam Islamic Boarding School and Aulia Cendekia Palembang. Data were gathered through observations, interviews, and document analysis, with qualitative analysis performed using Miles and Huberman's techniques. The research utilizes a sociological perspective, applying continuity and change theory to explore the development of the Qodiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah order from a social standpoint, including influential figures, teachings, and networks. Key findings indicate that the Qodiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah teachings in Palembang encompass tanbih, tawassul, talqin, zikir, manaqiban, and khalwat. These teachings are a continuation of those from the Suryalaya Tasikmalaya Islamic Boarding School and the An-Nawawi Berjan Purworejo Islamic Boarding School, propagated by figures such as Kiyai As'ad Balkhi, Kiyai Imam Syarkowi, Kiyai Yuda Mulya Angga Sasmita, Kiyai Zaki Mubarak, and Kiyai Hendra Zainuddin. The significance of the Qodiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah Order lies in its role in religious education, aiming to produce spiritually adept students and enhance community spirituality and morality. Moreover, the article highlights specific TQN practices—tanbih, tawassul, talqin, zikir, manaqiban, and khalwat—which showcase the ongoing preservation of traditional elements within the Palembang Muslim community. At the same time, the research acknowledges changes in the Order’s role, particularly in how it adapts to contemporary religious education by emphasizing spirituality, moral development, religious moderation, and the revitalization of ascetic practices. The incorporation of TQN into institutional religious education and its influence on the NU-an tradition in Palembang reflect its evolving function in the local context. By applying continuity and change theory from a sociological perspective, the study successfully portrays the persistence of TQN's core teachings and the adaptations made to address contemporary spiritual and social needs, ensuring its relevance in the modern era.

Abstract

Digital Game-Based Learning (DGBL) merupakan metode pembelajaran yang memanfaatkan permainan digital untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan dan motivasi siswa. DGBL menawarkan lingkungan belajar yang interaktif dan menyenangkan, memungkinkan siswa untuk belajar secara lebih aktif. Di sekolah kejuruan, DGBL bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman materi dan keterampilan yang relevan dengan industri, khususnya dalam pengembangan kemampuan berpikir komputasional. Kemampuan ini mencakup pemecahan masalah sistematis, pengenalan pola, pembuatan algoritma, dan berpikir logis. Melalui DGBL, siswa diharapkan dapat mengasah kemampuan ini.Beberapa penelitian sebelumnya telah mengeksplorasi pengaruh DGBL terhadap kemampuan berpikir komputasional siswa. Meskipun demikian, masih terdapat kesenjangan dalam pemahaman menyeluruh mengenai kolaborasi penulis, jurnal penerbit, dan tren publikasi di bidang ini. Studi ini bertujuan mengatasi kesenjangan tersebut melalui analisis bibliometrik yang mendalam, menggunakan R Studio untuk analisis dataset besar dan VOSviewer untuk visualisasi pemetaan bibliometrik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa DGBL memiliki dampak signifikan terhadap kemampuan berpikir komputasional siswa, namun penelitian terkait DGBL dan berpikir komputasional di pendidikan kejuruan masih jarang dibahas, sehingga memberikan peluang untuk penelitian lebih lanjut di masa depan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the factors that influence the interest of the millennial generation in paying zakat online through the fintech platform. The sample used in this study was 108 respondents from the millennial generation who live or are domiciled in the West Java region. There are three independent variables used in this study, namely Income, Religiosity, and Accountability. While the dependent variable used is the interest of the millennial generation in paying zakat online. The sample selection method in this study uses a purposive sampling technique. This study uses a descriptive research method with a type of research using a quantitative approach, which is measured by the panel data regression method using the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) version 23. The results of this study indicate that income and accountability have a significant positive effect on the interest of the West Java millennial generation in paying zakat online through the fintech platform, while religiosity does not affect the interest of the West Java millennial generation in paying zakat online through the fintech platform.

Abstract

This study developed a learning model to improve students’ early reading skills in Indonesia. The model is based on social cognitive learning theory and is implemented using interactive multimedia. The research method uses Design-Based Research (DBR) and the subjects are 195 first and second graders of an elementary school in Bandung, West Java. The findings of the study show that social cognitive learning can be integrated and implemented through interactive multimedia and that interactive-multimedia-assisted social cognitive model (IMAS Model) can improve early reading skills. Students’ average early reading skill scores were measured using Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) instrument before and after intervention to see the effectiveness of the model. Pre-test – post-test results comparison showed that students’ average early reading scores increased after learning using IMAS Model. Students’ average scores of reading letters, reading syllables, reading words, reading sentences, and reading comprehension skills at pre-test were 78.06, 67.06, 60.92, 55.21, and 44.95, respectively. These scores respectively increased to 92.71, 92.45, 88.58, 74.60, and 87.08 at post-test, indicating that IMAS Model is effective to increase early reading skills.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays an integral role in shaping holistic character, including the development of soft skills in individuals. This article aims to examine the importance of developing soft skills through Islamic Religious Education to achieve success both personally and professionally. The research method used in this study is library research, the data sources are collected from books, website articles and previous studies. The data obtained was analyzed in depth and detail to understand the phenomenon in a broader context, as well as to draw relevant conclusions to outline the concept and application of PAI in the context of this skill development. The purpose of the study was to present a comprehensive view of how PAI can effectively play a role in training skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork. The results show that PAI positively contributes to building characters with integrity, empathy, and responsibility, communication skills, critical thinking, and leadership, almost in all areas of study presented in the data table. The integration of PAI in the learning process can create an educational environment that encourages the development of soft skills, preparing individuals to face the complex challenges of the future.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penambahan tepung kunyit (Curcuma domestica Val.) pada pakan terhadap konsumsi pakan dan produksi telur burung puyuh. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dan dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam (ANOVA).  Perlakuan level tepung kunyit terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu P0 (Kontrol), P1 (5%), P2 (10%), dan P3 (15%). Setiap perlakuan terdiri dari 3 ulangan sehingga terdapat 12 unit pengamatan dengan menggunakan 120 ekor burung puyuh (10 ekor/unit). Dari hasil penelitian ini, diketahui bahwa pemberian tepung Kunyit dalam pakan burung puyuh berpengaruh (P<0.01) terhadap konsumsi pakan namun tidak berpengaruh (P>0.05) pada produksi telur burung puyuh. Hasil Konsumsi pakan yaitu P0 (22 g/ekor/hari), P1 (21.33 g/ekor/hari), P2 (20.67 g/ekor/hari), dan P3 (18.5 g/ekor/hari). Sedangkan nilai produksi telur yaitu 53.33-73.33%. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa suplementasi tepung kunyit 5-15% dalam pakan menurunkan konsumsi pakan  burung puyuh namun tidak mempengaruhi produksi telur .
