Abstract

The experiment activities carried out are not complete experiment activities. One of the learning models that includes investigative activities is the RADEC learning model. This research aims to implement inquiry-oriented RADEC learning. The method used in this research mixes methods by design-embedded experimental design. The subjects in this study were 45 elementary school students in class V, one of the elementary schools in Bandung Regency. Data collection techniques were collected using test and non-test instruments in the form of observation sheets, test questions, and questionnaires. Each stage of the RADEC learning model was good, with some stages increasing at each meeting and some optimally implemented. In investigative activities, students still need guidance in designing and making investigative reports and are required more than once to develop their skills in compiling, carrying out, and reporting investigations. Besides that, RADEC learning can increase students' mastery of concepts and encourage student collaboration skills.

Abstract

This research is based on the low level of creativity and conceptual understanding of grade 5 elementary school students, due to a lack of variety in learning. Students' creativity and understanding of concepts need to be developed through the implementation of RADEC learning. This research aims to determine the role of RADEC learning in developing fifth grade students' creativity and understanding of concepts in human growth material. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects were Class V students in one of the elementary schools in West Bandung Regency. Data collection techniques use tests and non-tests. The data is explained in detail through descriptive analysis, with non-parametric tests via the Kendalls' W test for creativity data and prerequisite and parametric tests for concept understanding results. The results of this research show that the Kendall's W test result of 0.92 shows that there is a high level of agreement between the 3 judges regarding the products that have been made by the students. The results of the mean rank of experimental class products show the top 4 rankings of the 8 products evaluated. The average N-Gain of students' conceptual understanding in the experimental and control classes was 0.72 and 0.31 in the high and medium categories. Therefore, it can be concluded that RADEC learning plays a positive role in developing students' creativity and understanding of concepts in human growth material.

Abstract

Science literacy in Indonesia is still far below the global average, thus highlighting the need for substantial improvement in science education, especially in science process skills. This study aims to analyze the basic science process skills of 4th grade elementary school students by using a descriptive approach through classroom observation and written tests. The results showed an average score of 54, categorized as poor, with the score of each aspect being observing 62 (fair), interpreting 61 (fair), classifying 56 (poor), predicting 54 (poor), planning experiments 51 (poor), and communicating 42 (bad). The study identified weak communication and experiment planning skills as the main factors contributing to low science literacy. Therefore, the implementation of inquiry-based learning strategies is essential to enhance science process skills and improve overall science literacy. The findings provide valuable insights for educators to design more effective and engaging science learning in primary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ISPS owned by 4th-grade students at one of the Public Elementary Schools in Cilegon City, in the subject of IPAS on the five senses material. This study used a quantitative descriptive method whose sample consisted of 5 male students and 9 female students. The instrument used was a written test in the form of an essay consisting of 5 questions to measure students' science process skills. The results of the study showed that students' SPS was still low, as evidenced by the average test score of 51, which means the results of this study still indicate low abilities in ISPS. This study identified that integrated science process skills in grade 4 students are still low. These findings provide insight to teachers to design science learning activities that can actively involve students in learning activities. Thus, it is necessary to implement a learning model based on inquiry so that students can be actively involved in learning making learning more meaningful.

Abstract

While the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) model effectively structures active learning, its application to abstract environmental phenomena often faces cognitive visualization barriers at the elementary level. This study addresses this gap by pioneering the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) within the RADEC framework, shifting from traditional text-based prompts to immersive 3D ecological simulations. The study aims to investigate the impact of this integrated approach on the problem-solving skills of fourth-grade students regarding climate change topics. Utilizing a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design, the research involved 62 students divided into an experimental group (n=30, using AR-assisted RADEC) and a control group (n=32, using conventional methods). Data were collected via observation sheets and validated problem-solving essay tests, and analyzed using paired and independent sample t-tests alongside N-gain scores. The independent sample t-test revealed no statistically significant difference in final posttest scores between the two groups (p = 0.124). Crucially, however, the N-gain analysis demonstrated that the AR-assisted RADEC model achieved a substantially higher and moderately effective improvement rate (58.5%) compared to the conventional method (41.0%), which was less effective. Qualitative observations confirmed that the AR integration successfully lowered cognitive barriers and fostered collaboration during the discussion and explanation phases. This integration contributes a novel, technology-enhanced pedagogical framework that bridges the gap between structured instructional models and abstract science concepts, offering a superior acceleration pathway for fostering elementary students' environmental problem-solving capacities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the RADEC learning model on the conceptual understanding of fifth-grade students in the subject of natural disasters. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design involving an experimental class and a control class. The research instruments consisted of pretest and posttest to measure students' conceptual understanding. The results of the study showed that there was an improvement in conceptual understanding in both classes, both those using the RADEC model and the direct instruction learning model. In the experimental class, the average score increased from 61.20 to 73.99, while in the control class it increased from 60.00 to 68.55. Statistical test results showed that there were significant differences before and after learning in each class. However, there was no significant difference between the two classes after learning. Nevertheless, the N-Gain results indicate that the improvement in the experimental class was higher compared to the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that the RADEC learning model has a better potential in enhancing students' conceptual understanding, although it does not show a statistically significant difference compared to the direct learning model.
