Abstract

Bullying represents a significant challenge in educational settings, affecting students' psychological, social, and academic development. While traditional counseling approaches face limitations due to inadequate counselor-to-student ratios and adolescents' preference for peer communication, peer counseling programs have emerged as promising alternatives for bullying prevention. This qualitative case study examined peer counseling program management at two public high schools in Bandung (SMAN 13 and SMAN 18 Bandung). Data were collected through in-depth interviews with school principals and guidance counselors, participatory observation of program implementation, and documentation review. Thematic analysis was employed to identify patterns across four management domains: planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision. The study revealed a systematic four-phase implementation approach. Planning involved comprehensive needs assessment and objective formulation aligned with school culture. Organization established a three-tier structure comprising guidance counselors as coordinators, teachers as facilitators, and trained students as peer counselors. Implementation featured informal counseling sessions and structured two-component training (basic counseling skills and bullying-specific education). Supervision utilized direct reporting mechanisms and field monitoring, though standardized evaluation criteria were absent. Both schools successfully created safer environments through peer-mediated interventions that leveraged adolescents' natural communication preferences. Findings demonstrate that systematic peer counseling program management effectively contributes to bullying prevention by empowering students as active agents in creating supportive school cultures. The study provides practical frameworks for program implementation while identifying areas requiring enhanced documentation and standardization. Results support previous research showing peer counseling effectiveness while offering detailed insights into operational mechanisms necessary for program sustainability.

Abstract

Teacher professionalism remains a critical challenge in educational systems globally, with many educators failing to meet established professional standards despite various certification programs. This study examined principal management practices in developing teacher professionalism, addressing the gap between management theory and educational leadership practice in professional development initiatives. A qualitative descriptive study was conducted at two Indonesian elementary schools (SDN Mekarjaya 2 and SDN Panyusuhan 1) over six months. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 24 participants, participant observations during professional development activities, and document analysis of school policies and evaluation reports. G.R. Terry's management framework served as the theoretical lens for analyzing planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating functions in teacher professional development. The findings revealed systematic implementation of four integrated management functions. Planning encompassed comprehensive needs assessment (100% implementation), resource allocation (90%), and strategic objective setting. Organizing established clear team structures with defined roles and collaborative approaches involving senior teachers. Implementation featured structured delivery through hands-on workshops, community of practice methodologies, and interactive learning sessions. Evaluation employed four-tiered assessment measuring participant satisfaction, competency improvement (28% average increase in theoretical understanding), behavioral change through classroom observation, and long-term educational impact. Key obstacles included initial resistance to change, technology integration challenges, and resource constraints, addressed through preparatory seminars, mentoring systems, and innovative resource-sharing solutions. The study demonstrates how systematic management approaches complement traditional leadership paradigms in developing teacher professionalism. The integration of management functions with communities of practice principles creates supportive environments that enhance teacher commitment, professional identity development, and sustained behavioral change. These findings contribute to educational leadership literature by providing empirical evidence of specific management practices that effectively transform teacher professionalism within contextually situated learning environments.

Abstract

This study examines learning community management in developing teacher collaboration culture at SMAN 23 Bandung and SMKN 2 Cimahi using George R. Terry's management framework. A qualitative multiple case study approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with school principals, learning community coordinators, and participating teachers, combined with observation of learning community sessions and document analysis. Data were analyzed through the Miles and Huberman framework, focusing on planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling functions. The findings reveal that effective learning community management requires data-driven planning based on student learning outcomes and teacher needs assessment, flexible organizational structures with rotational leadership roles, active implementation through technology-enhanced collaboration and integrated scheduling, and participatory supervision emphasizing improvement over compliance. Both institutions achieved 100% teacher participation rates and demonstrated significant improvements in collaborative lesson planning and instructional quality. However, cross-subject collaboration remained limited, indicating areas requiring additional intervention. The study contributes to educational management literature by demonstrating the practical applicability of classical management principles within contemporary collaborative learning contexts. The research provides evidence-based strategies for educational administrators seeking to implement sustainable learning communities, particularly in developing country contexts where resource constraints and cultural factors present unique challenges. These findings offer actionable guidance for bridging the implementation gap between educational policy intentions and practical realities in fostering teacher collaboration.

Abstract

Contemporary educational institutions face unprecedented challenges in fostering student moral development amid rapidly evolving technological and social environments. Parenting programs have emerged as strategic interventions for character development, yet limited research has systematically examined their management implementation within educational settings. This qualitative descriptive case study examined parenting program management in two vocational schools in West Java, Indonesia: SMKN 1 Cihampelas and SMK Wirakarya 2 Ciparay. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and parents, complemented by non-participant observation and documentary analysis. Data analysis employed thematic analysis guided by George R. Terry's management functions framework: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. The findings revealed significant deficiencies across all management functions. Planning lacked systematic needs assessment and measurable indicators for moral development outcomes. Organizational structures demonstrated poor coordination between stakeholders with unclear responsibility divisions. Program implementation remained largely incidental and unsystematic, with low parent participation rates (30-40%). Supervision and evaluation mechanisms were absent, preventing measurement of program effectiveness in improving student morals. Both schools showed reactive rather than proactive approaches to parenting program management, limiting their potential impact on character development. These findings contradict established management principles and highlight critical gaps in educational practice. The study contributes empirical evidence demonstrating that program effectiveness depends on systematic management implementation rather than content design alone. The research provides a comprehensive framework for understanding how educational institutions can optimize parenting programs through proper management practices, offering practical implications for educational administrators and policy makers seeking to enhance moral development outcomes through school-family partnerships.

Abstract

The background of this research is that there has not been a habit of using academic information systems by both lecturers and students, there are no educational staff from the field of computer science or informatics, and the limited budget they have. This research approach is a qualitative research with case study method. The results of this study indicate that academic information system planning refers to the blue print for the development, management and utilization of higher education information systems. The organization assigns a direct assistant to the Head of Academic and Student Affairs who is assisted by two operators, whose operational direction is based on a decree issued by the leadership which is fully managed by the Telecommunications Center. Coordination of academic information systems based on the participation and support of all parties. Control is carried out directly by the Chairman as the leader. The obstacles faced in general are that there is no budget available considering the need for the development of an Academic Information System that requires a large amount of money, the age of most of the lecturers is old so it is quite difficult to adapt to changes towards digital and the ability of lecturers to use information systems is still low. The solution is to encourage students and lecturers to want to get used to adapting and learning in the use of academic information systems

Abstract

It can be stated that when designing a plan for a primary school, it is important to ensure that the plan is in line with the 8 National Education Standards (NES). These standards provide a solid performance framework for improving the quality of education, ensuring every aspect of education functions properly. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with interview techniques, observation and supported by documentation for data collection. The analysis through the data visualisation approach produced by Atlas.ti 9 describes Pamulang Indah Primary School as a pioneer of excellence in education. The school's unwavering commitment to implementing the 8 National Education Standards (SNP) is evident in its comprehensive and structured approach. By prioritising quality education for all. SDN Pamulang Indah has made significant progress in fulfilling most of the 8 National Education Standards (SNP), although there are still shortcomings that need attention, especially in the Financing Standard. The high dependence on APBN and BOS funds has caused some student activities to be hampered when these funds are insufficient or disbursed late. This points to the need for strategic measures to find alternative sources of funding to ensure the smooth running of all educational activities. To overcome the dependence on APBN and BOS funds, SDN Pamulang Indah can seek to diversify funding sources by collaborating with the private sector, raising funds through community activities or applying for assistance from donor agencies. With these measures, the school can be more financially independent and ensure the smooth running of all educational activities, including extra-curricular activities and facility development, without having to rely too heavily on the government budget.

Abstract

Madrasah performance dominantly to date is very low and below the standard of other educational institutions. Only a small number of Islamic education are able to compete with other educational institutions. Seeing such a phenomenon is interesting to conduct an assessment of the conditions and problems that are actually faced by Islamic education institutions in Indonesia. Research is a literature research with the focus of the study of the implications of regional autonomy policies in the management of Islamic educational institutions, while the object to be studied is the implications of the regional autonomy policy in the management of Islamic educational institutions, with the procedure for obtaining data on researchers using literature. The data obtained will be identified, examined, analyzed, and interpreted so that the substance of the implications of regional autonomy policies in the management of Islamic educational institutions can be captured. After that, researchers will try to compare with other theories, to achieve a complete picture of the implications of regional autonomy policies in the management of Islamic educational institutions. The results of the study that the presence of madrasas in Indonesia has the same duties and roles as schools. As an educational institution that prepares the young generation of Muslims for the future, madrassas are expected to be able to produce graduates who will be able to play an important role in all sectors of national life, both the religious, social, economic, political, scientific and technology sectors. Madrasas are seeded than public schools because madrasas provide religious education (which is better than public schools) in addition to public education (which is the same as public schools). The problem that is still faced by madrasas today is the still low quality standards of general education provided in madrasas. Problems in the management of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia faced, are (1) management problems which include the field of human resources/education personnel, curriculum fields, facilities and infrastructure; (2) Conceptual-Teoritis and Operational-Practical Problems; and (3) the problem of education policies and politics.
